Bring your own.  We found Regent's metal bottles cumbersome and poorly insulated which failed to keep water cold.  Worst: a metallic, acrid, sour taste from water in the bottle.  Ugh.  We tossed the bottles and used our own, filled with ship water.

Water refilling stations are available throughout the ship.

We found the same thing. Awkward to drink out of - bring our own!!

  2. We are wondering if there will be any mandatory formal nights, Greece is pretty casual and it  is a short trip. Hoping not to pack fancy duds although we do always dress Country Club Casual - no jeans

Chris, I completely agree about the crab legs!  It's inexplicable to me that Crab legs (Especially - "Fresh") on a Regent Alaska cruise (or fresh crab AND fresh lobster/clams/oysters on a Regent New England/Canada Maritime Cruise), would not be available for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner...with "snacks in between" on those itineraries!  😉  Can't they/won't they provision that "fresh and right off the docks" when they're operating in those areas?  Or must it all be ordered/frozen/packed/delivered well in advance of initially getting underway?  Best Regards.  I really enjoyed reading your travel report.  Thanks.

We just got off a Princess ship from Alaska and found the very same thing no fresh local seafood or fish

I will be on the Navigator for the first time in nov 2023 and I am nervous about being in room 942 under La Veranda.  Will I hear lots of noise and moving chairs? Plus  many people have said the ship rocks a lot in bad seas.  Is it worse in the front or back?

If you can change cabins do so.
Under the veranda deck on any ship is noisy

  5. We have been sailing with Regent over the Holidays for about 10 years now. It is truly a special experience. The staff really go out of their way and the ships always look fabulous.

agree 73 days is a long time, it will be the longest for us and yes thank goodness for business class.

    hope you can persuade her

Thank you everybody much appreciated, I left it to the wife to decide upon either this trip at Christmas 2022 or another one I just noticed which is the grand spice cruise.

The grand spice cruise has a great itinerary. We are booking this one. Very similar to the one we were supposed to do this year

Too late for our Nov. cruise but works for Dec. ones

  8. Hi travel cat it has been awhile miss contacting with you. I have tried to figure out on the Regent website to find out who is the CD, and F and B and GM  as well as the before dinner  entertainment dancing people are as in Boogie and Cassia or Natures Rhythm for our upcoming trips

Don't find the website so friendly but clearly not using it correctly  Can you walk me through it

    Thanks

    Sandy

  9. Re: Chartreuse. Have to admit we too much preferred the menu in Signatures. We are long time Regent cruisers and are usually on board for 2 months over the holidays(including this year on the Mariner)  and the menu in Chartreuse gets really boring .Have mentioned it many times to the maître d on each ship but nothing seems to change. Signatures used to change the menu every week and we loved it

  10. The Journey Is About To End

As we come to a close of this trip, to sum it up it was a nice cruise.

Yes it’s time to say goodbye to the folks we met on board the ship and the ones on Cruise Critic that have been following the post. We hope you not only enjoyed them but found them informative as well. Sorry about no pictures, but next time we’ll do better.

Last evening we had friends from San Diego and Los Angeles meet the ship and have dinner with us on the ship. One of the couples had never been on a ship before and couldn’t believe how nice it was on the ship.

We had them up a cocktail party in our suite; the Butler did a great job setting it up. The Chef did some really nice selected canapés along with a caviar service. After that we headed to the Mariner Lounge for a drink before dinner at Prime 7. The food and service outstanding, the steaks cooked perfect. And desserts were very good, most had key lime pie. I had the ice cream which I think is the best I’ve had, even off ship. After dinner it was time to say goodbye to our friends and walked them off the ship. This was a really special evening for us.

To sum it up, the cruise was a good one and Regent did a nice job with a few exceptions. They need to be more consistent on food. Most of the time it was good but they missed the mark a few too many times. One night you have a great meal in a restaurant, the next time not so good in the same restaurant.

The tours average at best and one really bad. The extra pay “Swim with the Dolphins” was excellent from the ship to the dolphin area.

The crew on the ship was excellent, we think maybe understaffed from time to time (mainly in La Veranda & the Pool Grill), but even under staffed the crew did a super great job.

Housekeeping again did an excellent; you couldn’t have faulted them on anything.

We didn’t over use the Butler, and he was excellent. No matter what people say about they don’t need a Butler, the Butler just makes a cruise better. We don’t have one at home, but on a cruise it’s an important part of the cruise for us.

So thanks again, until our next cruise on Regent its goodbye for now.

So all in all you had a great time. Loved reading your blogs and so hope we have the chance to sail with you both again. We embark the Mariner on Nov 30 - Jan 20 and look forward to the new look after being on the Explorer the last two Holiday Cruises. As I said before the Mariner was always my favourite

    Safe travels home

    Sandy and Terry (Calgary)
