  1. We LOVE the spa and for that reason always book spa stateroom when there is a cloud 9 spa on the ship. The thalassotherapy pool is wonderful. The thermo suites are my favorite. We did buy a pass a long time ago. That was how we were introduced to the area. But being so close makes it much more convenient to go more often. We just booked a horizon spa room for a Barcelona departure in April. I can’t wait!!

  2. I would recommend Princess or Celebrity.

Carnival and royal are both geared for families. The week you mentioned will guarantee tons of kids onboard either of those lines. Princess and Celebrity are more geared toward an older crowd. They are more expensive - that eliminates some families from the get go

  3. Of those you've listed, the Dream is my favorite. (We have not sailed on the Miracle tho.)

I have heard that people like the layout of the Miracle as it is pretty different from the other ships.

I like the Dream because we love the Cloud 9 facilities and this particular ship has a Razul (sp?) mud room that can be booked privately. We have done this twice and it was a great experience. I was very disappointed when we got on the Breeze and found out they did not have the same facility. I thought all Cloud 9 ships had one...

  4. I have been on most of the classes of Carnival ships and have "mustered" both inside and out... We had an inside location on Promenade on the Fascination years ago (the only reason I remember this was it was our kids first cruise and my son, who was 9 managed to lose his sign and sail card before the drill was over... )Our first cruise on the Inspiration we were outside and our friends were inside, a couple of years ago we were on the Paradise (also Fantasy class) and our station was out by the boats. On the Dream and Breeze we have been inside every time, which I think is the norm for that class. On the Glory and Liberty... I don't honestly remember. The drill has never been a big deal with us- but of course, we prefer to be inside.

  5. I'm sorry for your pain but the good news is that Naples will be an easy problem to solve.

First, if you have a car service reserved you could go ahead with your plans to see the Amalfi Coast, just drop the Pompei stop and add more time along the coast.

If you'd rather not do that, Naples herself is a great option. The cruise port is located in the historic center, facing a huge castle (Castel Nuovo). You can walk from the ship, cross the main street in front of the cruise port and walk up a ramp alongside the castle to Via San Carlo. From here you'd walk past Naples's historic opera house and galleria to the famous Cafe Gambrinus on Piazza Trieste e Trento, diagonally across from the royal palace and apartments. All that and you're only a half a mile from your ship.

If you're willing to walk (or take the metro or a taxi) a little further (one mile) you can see the famous Spaccanapoli and the nearby Museo Cappella San Severo with its outstanding sculpture of the Veiled Christ.

In the same area, if you're looking for beauty and peaceful quiet, check out the cloisters of Santa Chiara. There's also some excavated ruins and a museum there.

This is great information- We just booked a Carnival sailing for next April and I hope I can find this post when it gets closer to detailed planning so I can refer back!!

    Thanks!!

  6. I have not done a 3-day with Carnival, but have with Disney. (Not my choice, but it was paid for, so what the heck!)

If you want three good days on the boat, then it can be really relaxing. If you are determined to get off and spend as much time as possible in ports, it can be exhausting. You might find you need a vacation from your vacation.

  7. We just got back on May 9th from the Breeze 6-day sailing. We ported in Falmouth. We were excited because this was a new port of call for us. But as others have mentioned, Ocho Rios is closer to many of the excursions. We booked a private excursion to Green Grottos cave. It was about 45- minute drive to the location. It was fine, we enjoyed seeming more of the island but for those wishing to do longer trips like Dunns River Falls, it might prove tight on time.

On another note- the port at Falmouth is very nice.

  8. The way around forcing both people to get cheers is to split the booking. If you put the person who wants it in a room

With a minor, they can't force you to pay for two.

The op says they have older teen daughters- that's not legal drinking age. As others have mentioned- it would be against the rules to share but also as they mentioned, you can do it without being caught if you're discreet.

  9. We are looking at a last minute cruise on the Breeze this summer. We can get an ocean view on deck 2 or, for $600 less, an inside midship on deck 7. Haven't cruised in an inside since it was just the 2 of us. Now we have 2 children 10 & 14. Will an inside be too small? Thanks!!!!

We always book inside- but we book 2 inside when the kids are with us. I couldn't handle trying to maneuver around that cabin and share one bathroom with 4 people. Our relaxing cruise would be nothing of the sort.

  10. Can the Carnival Hub App be used on other ships besides the Breeze yet??? How well does app work????

Only the Breeze. We were just on the ship on May 3-9. It works great for fun times. You can also use the chat feature ($5 per phone) which is great if you're traveling with others. Needs to be available fleet wide.

  11. After sailing the last 2 years on The Dream ,The Magic , and The Breeze , We are awaiting The Vista , We would sail on The Breeze again , It is the best of the fleet . We would never consider going back to the older ships after sailing on The Dream Class. Would it be hard for you to go back on the older ships after you had a taste of the newer ships ?

Nope- I'd sail the dream again in a heartbeat. It actually has a mud room that the Breeze didn't have. Don't get me wrong- we loved the Breeze, currently she's our favorite ship. But to neglect every other ship in the fleet would be too restrictive for me.

  12. I could not get FTTF so I am concerned about getting off in Belize in time to get to my non-carnival booked excursion in time. So what if I bought one cheap excursion ($40) through Carnival? Could I get my family of four on early tender with just one excursion ticket?

You shouldn't have issues. The private companies deal with this day in and day out. They don't expect you to be off first.

  13. You can get back off if you want to.

I guess I've never thought about it... But where? Do you go back through where the floods of people are embarking? Then coming back on, do you have to go through the embarkation process? I guess I just don't understand how it would work. In 13 cruises I haven't run across anyone who has done that.

  14. First time cruiser. I just printed my luggage tags and noticed that luggage should not be larger than 24 w x 16 h. I am almost certain that my luggage is greater thar 16 inches high. I understand it cannot weigh more than 50 pounds but has anyone had experience with cruising with larger luggage? Must I go buy all new luggage? Thank you

I can promise you my checked suitcase is much larger than that and weighs much more than 50 pounds. Your carry-on needs to be small enough to fit on the little conveyor belt so they can check it going through security. If you are not flying in to a cruise port you have no restrictions on your checked luggage.

  15. Hey, I never thought of booking the second leg of a b2b while on the cruise. What a great idea. I can't wait for retirement!

You'd actually be taking a chance that the next week would not be available. Different times of year would be better than others. You'd be better off to book two separate cruises while on a third. That way you'd get obc for both.

  16. Hey, we booked our first suite, what excatly is prioity check in? Do we skip the long line or get to board earlier?

We never rush to port or on the ship but if we can walk on early, drop our stuff, then head to the riverwalk (we'll be in New Orleans), that would be great!

Do you mean board then disembark to look around New Orleans? I don't think that would work. They don't let you off once you're on. It's not set up for debarking.

  17. If your talking about the new HUB APP that is being tested on the Breeze then yes you need to have WIFI for it to work. From what I understand there are some areas that would be free, such as viewing fun times and dining menus, but if you want to chat with others on the ship then you would need one of the internet packages. Right now they have the social package which is $5 a day or $25 for a week per device (you can use more than one but have to log out on one first) that would let you keep in contact with each other.

    Actually- that's not entirely correct.

The app is FREE. It doesn't cost at all unless you want the chat feature. Then it is $5 per phone that enables it.

The new internet plan that the breeze offers for phones (and iPads) is totally separate from the app. You don't need the app to use the Internet actually, you use you phones apps or safari- depending upon which plan you purchase.

The $5 per day plan works with ONLY the apps mentioned. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc)

If you want to use an app that isn't on the list, you have to buy the next plan up which costs $60 for the week. We just got off the breeze yesterday and used both the app and the Internet option. We had to buy the $60 plan because my husband needed an app not on the list.

The great part is you can use as many devices that you want- just not more than one at a time.

  18. That is an interesting point of view. It made me go back and look at me 19cruises to see how many interiors were had. The final answer is: 5 of the cruises were interior, 2 were oceanview. Not bad for 97 days at sea.

I'm not at all ashamed to say that every day of our 13 cruises has been interior or porthole. I choose to book interior and spend the money elsewhere. It's everyone's choice what type of room to book. We have also always booked two rooms when our kids have gone instead of squeezing into one room... I have booked 4 spa staterooms and paid the upcharge for the cloud 9 usage. It too was a choice.

  19. Do you tip nightly if you have anytime dining?

    Always...

The service doesn't change Just because you're in a different location.

We have had many sailings where we request the same serving team multiple nights and develop the same kind of relationship with them as set dining.

Our most recent trip on the breeze we found the atd crew forked extra hard still remembering names at every table even though they changed nightly.
