Actually yes, DH has been using a pride for the last 6 or so cruises this year.   Per our recollection, you will be able to get the scooter in the door, however, if the bed is right there, you will need to climb over the bed.   It is against regulations to store a scooter outside the cabin, so your best bet, if no other configuration is available, is to ask the special needs desk, or onboard, if they can store it for you.   

  2. ?  I researched 3 Cruiselines for several trips to be taken this year recently, and found openings and drastic price savings, most due to the holes the Cuba Cancelation caused.   Folks canceling.   No worries, I don’t think any conspiracy against one cruise line vs another.  But don’t take off that tinfoil hat just yet.

  3. I went to the Royal Caribbean website and found: 

    On boarding day, guests may bring onboard two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per stateroom in their carry-on luggage. If more than two bottles of wine or champagne are brought onboard, including any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, they will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on your last day onboard.

    Guests on consecutive cruises may bring two (2) 750 ml bottles of personal wine or champagne per voyage, per stateroom. Additional bottles will be stored by the ship and two bottles at a time will be delivered to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing more than two bottles at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for any consecutive sailings available to share with security on boarding day.

Our problems began when They had a last minute charter of the entire ship, and moved our cruise out to another date without contacting our TA.   No communication, and an arbitrary movement, with a different cabin, etc, and a total mess up of their web programming for excursions, etc. We fought (our TA actually) long and hard to get a total refund , and we eventually did, however almost had to go through legal means to do so.   Never again,   We stick with Crystal and Oceania now.   (And Disney with the grandkids).   

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  5. Unfortunately due to some shenanigans they pulled on us last year, we canceled our cruise on the Journey, and never went back.   I also suggest you post this on the Azamara board linked https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/362-azamara-club-cruises/

     

    They have a person I believe her name is Bonnie that is employed by Azamara, on the CC Azamara Forum regularly, that may be able to assist you.   Good luck, and let us know what happens.   

  6. Not knowing your budget or where you want to cruise, I googled Regent and found their Explorer Ship has a master Suite that has two bedrooms.  I would suggest you contact a knowledgeable TA and have them suggest some Cruiselines and ships for your preferred itinerary.

There are no adds Spa benefits, however, you have access to the Spa Terrace,  which on the Riviera contains a thalassotherapy pool, and loungers.   It is a smaller area than the main pool area, and can get warm on summer cruises, as there is little airflow.  Some folks like the pool, and separate area, however, I myself found it not to my liking.

Comparing price is misleading.  Our Regent Mariner Cruise was actually 1000 US less than the almost exact same cruise on Oceania.  There are extreme deals on Regent lately that your TA can snag for you.  Doesn’t sway us.  Still enjoy Oceania or Crystal better,  just people we fit with I guess.

  9. Unfortunately, this is one of those cases of reading the fine print.   On the offer, there is an asterisk, and when you go read the terms and conditions of the offer, it states:  (only Europe embark and disembark)    

    PREMIUM ECONOMY AIR UPGRADE* 
    Air Upgrade, if applicable, is a Premium Economy Air Upgrade only available when air is purchased through Oceania Cruises. It applies to intercontinental flights only and is priced per person, each way, on select voyages from select gateways, open to all categories for Europe embark and disembark ports only and based on availability. Not all amenities will be available on all carriers.

Having sailed on both Oceania and Regent, I have to partially agree with Dan above.    We sailed on the Mariner to Alaska 1.5 years ago (prior to refurb).  We found the ship to be fine actually, suites OK, but we are low Maintenance usually taking Veranda on Oceania, and Crystal.   Have done one Penthouse on Oceania as upgrade, but really Ok with regular.  We don’t drink, so that was lost on us on Regent.    My DH is disabled, so do private tours on both, again, Regent tours lost on us.   Found food to be about the same...the food on Regent was about the same quality however on our cruise it was served lukewarm, and had to talk to f&b head twice about that,  and if I am on a Luxury line, should not need to do that.   Fellow cruisers...well, about the same. We just fit better on Oceania.  You find snooty people all over.   Buck for buck, we are happy on Oceania, but again, we are low maintenance and definitely not as vocal as some on the Regent board about cheerleading on either.   I don’t believe that asking on the Oceania board is going to sway you, but I can guarantee that asking this question on the Regent board will give you more “encouragement” to try Regent,   Most Regent folks we talked to on our cruise put down Oceania.   Different lines, different wants and needs.   Definitely more of a pomp and circumstance line vs Oceania.  Worth it?  Only you can decide that.

I don’t think I understand?    We have 2 Inogen portables, and in both cases, we can plug the unit in at night to charge and run, and use an external plug in battery charger to recharge the extra battery.   We don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to change batteries...so I guess I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish?   If you are trying to charge both batteries over night, purchase an external charger...I am unsure of any portable unit that doesn’t plug in to run and charge.  You can use this unit also on board ship, no need to rent one.   Pls elaborate further, so we can assist.

Expectations are a big part of the reviews.   Some folks come in expecting ultra luxury, and were told by someone else that it was the best ever....they now expect a 7 star luxury experience.   Sigh.   That’s why it’s so subjective, what I love, you may scoff at.  Some folks start off with a bad experience, and their entire cruise is downhill from there, as evidenced by more than one “bad” review listed.   Have we experienced some not so awesome food, yup....and we also had some of the worst food ever on Regent’s Mariner 1.5 yrs ago in Alaska....sub par food, experience and service, and at their prices, we won’t ever return...not to mention, we find Oceania folks so much more our type.   Soooo,  we haven’t found subpar anything as a trend on Marina or Riviera, but yea, we have seen some hiccups but we come to expect some missteps occasionally, it’s how they are corrected that makes us want to come back.

In response, you may hear some noise, depending on cabin number....we were in the A1 almost dead center, of the 8the floor, with the pool area above us, and yes, early AM you can hear chairs scraping.   Didn’t bother us, as we were already awake, but around 8ish in the AM, you may hear some noise, and during sunny afternoons, you may hear it also.  We have also been in Penthouse 3’s and have And, yes, under gym area, you “may” hear some thumping, as well as in rear, below terrace you “may” hear early morning and noon and evening setup and movement.   Been there, done that.   Didn’t bother us, but it depends on your toleration level.   Search on your cabin number in this forum, to see of others that have complained.     Some have found it annoying, some, like Dan, above, never noticed it, others, like us, heard noise, but ignored it.

I have been on 18hour flights and cruises with no problems. The only difference traveling with one vs. without one is you have to tell the people at the medal detectors that you have one (you don't even need to show them your card, they don't care!) and they will either pat you down or use the x-ray machine instead. Hope this helped.

  15. This is taken directly from the Cunard Special Assistance Section on tendering:  if your friends have it in writing from the cruise line, or you wish to confirm, I would call their special needs phone number to discuss with a representative directly, and get it in writing.  

    Embarking and disembarking the tender safely

    In some ports it is necessary to anchor off shore rather than alongside the dock or quay . When this is the case, we use a tender to take you ashore. A tender is a small vessel that carries around 100 passengers. In order to board the tender, please note that you will be required to use steps (up to 20cm/8 inches high) and navigate the gap between the platform and the tender (of up to 45cm/18 inches).

     

    In the interests of safety, we require all guests wishing to use the tenders to have sufficient independent mobility to negotiate steps and traverse a gap of up to 45 cm/18 inches. Anyone wishing to board the tender will need to demonstrate this ability via a mobility test prior to tender embarkation by stepping unaided over a distance of 45 cm/18 inches. Children who are unable to step across a gap of this size will be permitted to use the tender service provided their parent/guardian is able to demonstrate that they can carry or pass them safely across the mobility test gap.

     

    There will be crew members there to guide and steady you as you embark, but they cannot support, carry or lift guests on board the tender for safety reasons. Please wear appropriate, flat, and securely attached footwear, when embarking and disembarking the tender.

     

    If you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter, please note that you or your travelling companion are responsible for assembling and disassembling your wheelchair/mobility scooter. The crew will endeavour to assist where practical and safe to do so, providing that no individual part weighs more than 20kg/40 lb.

     

    If you have notified us that you have reduced mobility you will be invited to a tender briefing on board and given the opportunity to take part in the mobility assessment (described above) in advance. This must be completed independently, without any assistance. If an officer decides it is not safe for you to board a tender, please respect their decision as this decision is taken to ensure your safety, in accordance with health and safety law.
