  1. If you are in Star Class on an Oasis or Quantum Class ship you can get room service from any restaurant on the ship as long as you plan to eat during the regular operating hours of that restaurant.

Wow this is new to me - thank you very much! We were Star Class once but were not informed that this could be done - with a young child in tow, this would be very useful for our next cruise, enabling us to enjoy speciality dining in our room without disrupting other diners.

  2. Following your review with interest. Have noted that the Staff Captain and the GRM have both changed (we remember both these officers very fondly) and the OL maitre'D has moved to Luminae - we really liked him whenever we dined at OL. Who is your butler? After two weeks onboard the Constellation, it has become almost like a friend to us. Although DH's first words to me on the gangway were "looks old".

  3. Yes, I would insist on having pre-cruise comm with your Genie.

One of my only disappointments with the Star Class service was the very poor pre-cruise coordination. The other disappointment had to do with Luggage Valet but I will not expound on that issue, here.

Even with the last minute switch it should not matter. Your Genie SHOULD reach out to you and if he/she does not, I would track them down ! You're going to need to coordinate boarding details at a very minimum.

I have just sent an email to the concierge requesting for precruise communication from the Genie. We sail in two days so cutting things a little tight I know!

  4. You could always email the concierge and explain the situation. They should be able to connect you which your Genie.

That's an idea, thanks. I had hesitated to e-mail the concierge again as I think she's swamped with people getting on/off the ship and hadn't followed up on my previous e-mail (I had told her I had upgraded and requested for a list of Star class benefits to replace the Sky list she had e-mailed me; she had said ok but the e-mail never came). I'll probably e-mail her again at the risk of sounding like a pesky demanding suites passenger :o

  5. I was about to post this. We did a last minute upgrade (we had received the Sky class concierge welcome email prior to upgrade) and we cruise in under a week. Will we expect to hear from the genie at all? I updated both the concierge and the Special Needs department about the cabin switch but have not received any acknowledgment either.

  6. On one of our upcoming cruises, this option recently opened for booking. The terms are that we get 50% off if we book specialty dining for the first night. The catch is the time and venue is determined by the ship. Has anyone who has booked this before managed to change the restaurant onboard? The wording in Cruise Planner is ambiguous. Thanks!

  7. Actually, its Qsine that will replace Ocean Liners. And seven "Edge style" cabins according senior staff onboard the Constellation last week.

A chef de rang at OL told us the same thing when we were onboard last month. On the cruise line wanting all M class ships to be standardised, the MCC was quick to point out that for a long time, Tuscan was only on the Constellation. Will be interesting to see what really happens.

  8. This is very strange - I could have sworn on my computer yesterday it was in dark grey! But if that's the case, all the better!

I went back and saw what I had saved and was relieved my eyes were not playing tricks one me. This was what RCL had posted - probably in error. Glad they have amended the colour of the A2 category now. d9ab448e4f4d14d33b1c6f095c09ebd2.jpg

  9. The A2 are in faded pick. It alternates between bright pink and faded pink. Sky class is in faded and bright blue? So A1/A2 are in Star.

My question is has anyone seen any TL (Star Loft) availability. I have looked at a number of dates and see plenty of A1/A2 and RL availability but never any TL. Would be interested in knowing what the price is compared to the A1.

This is very strange - I could have sworn on my computer yesterday it was in dark grey! But if that's the case, all the better! The fare tracking website I use has TL prices and and it was only $200 per pax more than the A1. However, on the sailings I'm tracking, it's sold out (not surprising since there are only 2 on the ship - on the cruises I am looking at, even A1/A2 availability is limited).

  10. She is only sailing the Chinese market. They ne Ed rolled out the suite class perks to her and most of her sailings end up bring charters or partial charters.

Are the "Royal Suite Class" perks going to be implemented fleet wide for ships that have Sky and Sea class cabins, i.e. free internet for Grand Suites?

I'm wondering about Ovation as well. It's sailing Australia, Singapore and the Chinese market and Royal Suite Class has been suspended since 27 January. The Singapore sailings in March and April, contrary to the RSC brochure, does not have genies, free internet etc. Yet it has been affected by the cabin recategorisation. RCL is not being very consistent here unless it intends to reinstate the RSC in its entirety some time on the Ovation.

  11. We were on the 14 night Constellation sailing last month and the package on sale then was buy 6 for the price of 5. Each class was $11 + gratuity. This could be used for yoga, boot camp, zumba, Pilates and indoor cycling. Hope this helps!

  12. Here is a link to all the coupons that will be loaded onto each Diamond Member's SeaPass Card http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=52389116&postcount=9 There is also a list of what you can expect in the Diamond Lounge during 5-8:30 or 4:30-8. Each Adult Diamond Member will also have 3 drinks loaded onto their SeaPass card, in addition to what is available in the lounge, that can be used at most bars around the ship during the same hours.

Thanks! We would be happy with 4 free photos.

  13. Just ask the LA for the Emerald pins.

The commerative gift starts at 140 points and every 70 points thereafter.

    Kids should be diamond.

You should call C&A to make sure your status with Celebrity gets transferred over, don't rely on it happening automatically.

Thanks! Does that mean since we get 1 free photo as Diamond, 4 of us (2 adults 2 kids) would get 4 free photos? I usually get the photo package but don't intend to this time round.

  14. We turned Elite after our last cruise on Celebrity even though we are only Platinum (50 points) on C&A. I understand that means we will be accorded Diamond status on our next RCL cruise in April (yay!). Just a couple of questions on this - we are due to turn Emerald after this cruise. Will we still receive the signature lapels for Emerald and thereafter Diamond when we hit 80 points? Or will we no longer receive them since we are now "Diamond" anyway - it's a small thing but it would be nice to get them. Also, is the Diamond milestone recognition and commemorative gift only for when we hit 80 points on C&A? Lastly, will our two children now be accorded Diamond status as well or will they remain at Platinum? Celebrity only gives them membership into Captain's Club when they hit 18.

We had not expected to hit Elite so quickly and were in fact working towards gaining our Diamond qualification on RCL first; a room upgrade on our Celebrity cruise turned things around.

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Thank you for that great review. It was very informative.

    Hope you recover well.

Thank you for your kind words - have finally recovered but am missing the ship with fondness. It was one of our most enjoyable cruises to date!

Thank you for sharing your review. We sail on her in Sept round the Adriatic and Med and new to Celebrity so was nice to get a feel for the ship.

You are most welcome - I think you will find lots to like about her. :)

  16. Is the Blu restaurant mentioned in this diary also available for anyone or does this ship have different dining rooms based on your cabin class? (I assume the Luminae is just for Penthouse inhabitants.) From reading this do I assume that just the MDR and the Ocean View Cafe & Grille are the only restaurants available to all without upcharge.

As mentioned, Luminae is for all Suite guests and Blu is for all Aqua guests - Suite guests can dine there at no charge on a space available basis. Apart from the MDR and the OV, the Aqua Spa Cafe is also available without extra charge. It is not open for dinner though. There is no longer a Bistro on 5 - that has been changed to Sushi on 5. I much prefer the old incarnation as we enjoyed the crepes and shakes. :)

  17. One question if I may as we are on the same cruise as you staring 5 March. Did you encounter any rough weather on your cruise and if so on which legs did it occur and was it particularly noticeable in the aft penthouse suite?

Hi Alan our roughest day was the crossing from Hong Kong to the Philippines. Even the crew remarked about that day - DH was nauseous and couldn't really eat. The seas were also a little choppy from Boracay to Kota Kinabalu but that was very manageable compared to the first rough day. An earthquake had just struck one of the islands of Philippines and there was speculation the second rough day was due to that. Motion was always more noticeable in our PH than the in laws' S1 (cabin 6126 so noticeably nearer the hump). We had a corner aft S1 booked for our 2018 Reflection cruise but changed it to a hump CS after experiencing the motion from the aft. If you have no problem with motion sickness, the aft cabins are wonderful; it is just unfortunate that DH does not cope too well with it.

    Enjoy your cruise!!

  18. Just a quick question. This is our first Celebrity cruise. We booked the Go Best package with free unlimited internet for 2. When we've pre-booked the internet in the past on Royal Caribbean, we had an access code waiting for us in our stateroom. Is this how it works on Celebrity, too? Just curious.

We didn't get an access code on our cruise last week. You will be asked to create an account online via (for my cruise) login.com or something generic like that. You then key in your choice of user name, a PIN and your folio number. It was as easy as that.
