  1. Not sure if it is the same for platinum or not, but we just did a back to back cruise where technically we became gold on the last day of the second cruise. We were gold for the entire duration of both cruises. We also had the two cruises "linked" by a rep over the phone.

  2. We sailed the exact same itinerary on Splendor last year and had a great time. We didn't book any excursions but wish we would have in a few places. Here are some ideas. It all depends on what your interests are but here are thinks we like.

Cozumel: One of my favorite places to wander around. You'll most likely dock and Puerta Maya and will have to take an easy cab ride to your destination. On our first cruise we went to Paradise Beach which charges $3 for entry but they have a beautiful beach and pool area. For an additional charge, they have watersports available. There are also many All Inclusive Resorts that are affordable. A popular one is Nachi Cochem which requires a reservation as they have a 100 person limit each day. Downtown has a lot of shopping if you are interested in that and there is a lot of shopping available right at the port. Los cinco soles has a port and downtown location and they have a huge selection of souvenirs at reasonable prices.

Mahogany Bay is a great day to use as a beach day. You can walk right to the beach area and there are chairs available free of charge. They also have the "magical flying beach chair" which is an additional cost which takes you from the ship to the beach all day. We chose to just walk, about 5-10 minute easy stroll from the ship.

Belize: belize is one place where I would recommend booking an excursion. There is not much to do right at the port area with the exception of bars and the same shops that are at all of the other ports. We walked outside of the gated area to Belize City which made us feel a bit uneasy but I didn't feel like we were in danger. There are just a lot of people selling things outside of the gate and not many people walking around so we were kind of swarmed by them, but we said no thank you and kept going.

Grand Cayman: I would recommend going to seven mile beach or doing the stingray excursion. We just took a bus to the public beach for about $2 I believe. So far, our favorite beach that we have visited!

I hope you have a great time :)

  3. I don't drink and I can't stand being around drunk people. That being said, I have been on 2 carnival cruises (and have 4 more booked!) and have loved both of them. We went on one 4 day Royal Caribbean and there were far more drinkers and obnoxious people but we still had a great time. From my understanding, shorter cruises can have a slightly more noticeable "party" atmosphere. Also it depends on the time of year. We go when schools and colleges are in session and avoid holidays.

  4. We always book with Alamo in Miami or FLL. I have noticed if you book about 2 weeks before the trip, the rates are fairly low with no drop fees. For example, we have rented at FLL, drove about 45 minutes (at night without traffic) to our miami hotel. In the morning, we took the car to MIA and took the free shuttle to the port (about 10-15 minutes). They also pick people up at the port and take them back to MIA but we haven't used that service as we usually fly home from FLL. With tax included the rental costs us around $25.

  5. It really depends on where you are going. I would never leave anything important unattended. I bought a waterproof waist pouch on eBay so I can keep important stuff on me. We usually leave our phones on the ship. I may bring an old one along to use wifi though. Most of the places we have been didn't have lockers, but Paradise Beach in Cozumel had lockers for rent which we used.

  6. Most of the time the omelet station cook doesn't have a bowl and none of the eggs are already cracked and beaten so getting soft scrambled eggs doesn't work. He just cracks it in the pan and pushes the egg around so you get a white/yellow mess.

On our last cruise they already had eggs (not beaten) cracked open into bowls. I usually don't go for scrambled anyway. I like mine cooked over easy

  7. Hi. Im sailing the Breeze in January 30. Is the omlett station in the buffet? Also is the MDR only open for breakfast on sea days?

    Thanks.

The omelet station is at the Lido buffet. I'm not a big fan of omelets but you can get regular eggs cooked to order. I prefer that over the powdered eggs that are in the buffet trays when we have the time to spare. There's usually a bit of a line

  8. I Never eat on Lido/buffet for breakfast. Love eggs benedicts on regular dining room days, but Brunch days love flaming tomato soup, bacon mac and cheese, cheese grits, paparadelle.... to be continued

I didn't know they had dining room breakfast on port days and I've never had eggs Benedict before. Now I'll have to try it in two weeks :)

  9. There are several, I recommend calling to verify but I know that Alamo and Enterprise/national do

To clarify we pick up and drop off at the airport with Alamo. They have a shuttle to the port from the airport. Very easy

  11. We always use Priceline Express deals to get a hotel near the airport for around $100. We also always rent a car for a night from the airport because they are cheap if you book a few weeks out. The last two times it was only $25 including tax and fees. Then in the morning we drop it off at the airport and the car rental agency has a free shuttle to the port.

  12. Also based on my experience, any Priceline hotel with a 7+ rating has been perfectly fine. We use Priceline for nearly every trip and never have an issue as long as we book a 7+.

Sorry for multiple posts lol. I should have looked up all of the information first before posting. I just looked it up on the map and it is right next to Walgreens.

  13. I've been able to find open wifi around the port and downtown without too much of an issue. Perhaps write the draft ahead of time and send it when you find wifi? Not sure about Internet cafes. I believe most of the bars in the port area have wifi for customers if you'd want to just buy a drink or something.
