  1. I'm able to check out a little bit later. They are going to stow my luggage and lock up my valuables. Since we are on the beach they are letting me use their chairs and towels for the day. I'm going to separate my luggage. The hotel is going to give me some toiletries as let me freshen up and change in their restroom before heading to port. It's not ideal, but the hotel is being great.

There is a group on our roll call coming straight from Allure. What I'm hearing is RC is going to take their luggage and then shuttle them downtown for the day. I'm hearing reports of $75 OBC. That will cover lunch and dinner but not missing 1/3 of the cruise. It's annoying but what can you do? I feel for large groups or those with kids.

  2. I just got the following text...

S: Important Notice - Majesty of the Seas, Nov 6, 2015

Hello, this is Royal Caribbean International. We would like to provide you with important information regarding your sailing on Friday, November 6, onboard Majesty of the Seas. The ship needs to conduct important maintenance on its water system tomorrow that will delay your boarding. Boarding for your cruise will take place between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Because the cruise terminal at the Port of Miami is very limited in space, we ask that you NOT arrive at the port for boarding before 6:00 p.m. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation and we look forward to welcoming you onboard. To confirm: reply with YES and send.

I'm cruising solo. What am I to do for 7 hours after checkout? I've gotten the call a few days ago about boarding times due to deck number, but this is way different.

    Thoughts?

  3. Shoot...yes I should have specified. I do have my time dining. I am going to go to the dining room when I board and request a table alone.

I wouldn't think it'd be an issue, because like you all said, I'm alone. I just know people can seem funny about what others do in the dining room.

I dine alone a lot when I am home, it doesn't bother me. Just thought I'd ask. I'm very excited about this trip!

  4. Leaving tomorrow for my first solo!

I already know I want to sit alone at dinner. Would you find it rude if I brought my tablet and read while I ate? I have downloaded several books that I'm very excited about digging into.

For those of you that prefer to eat alone, what do you do?

    Thanks!

  5. If it was a new policy, and the website wasnt changed, I can see why in April they would have given us the info they did. It was fine, I like to err on the side of caution, I would have worried doing our route with her anyway. So we modified the vacation where she spent several days in Puerto Rico with us.

However, the fact that it's September, and that info is still on the website, is unacceptable. They really should get their act together and make a rule, stick to it, inform their people, and change their info.

  6. From the website...

My daughter couldn't go on our May 2015 cruise because she would have entered her 24th week 3 days into the cruise. It was not honor system. They went by the rules in the link I posted and they required the "fit to travel" docs. Her OB was willing to sign a release and RC refused.

ETA... I'm now the proud 1st time grandma to they most perfect 6 day old little girl alive. :-)

  7. First...the plane story made me LOL and shake my head at some people at the same time. I can relate to the dog story...

On our flight home from Puerto Rico after our cruise in May we were in the front row of the airplane. Hadn't been in the air long when the WORST SMELL EVER came into my airspace. I thought I would throw up. It kept coming every 5 minutes or so. I was about to get some kind of upset with a rude passenger. Then I turned around and saw two pugs sitting in the lap of the woman behind me. She said one flew great. The other....not so much. HAHA How could I be mad at the poor dog with tummy troubles? I just kept the laminated thing that tells you how to survive in a crash with me and fanned when he "fanned"! lol

What hotel are you staying at? I'm taking a solo cruise in November. I booked the Edgewater, but am always open to suggestions. I was going to go to Cabaret that night, but heard it closed! UGH...so any suggestions would be welcome. I love Wet Willies!

    Have fun!

  8. Thank you both. Great pictures and videos. Thank you.

Was your excursion also just 4 hrs?

For the dolphin sightings, it looks like this is near the ferry docking? I haven't heard of the $19 extra charge, which is obviously better than the dolphin encounter (which is $193CAD per person x 4 people...unfortunately too much)

We were in Nassau from 7am-midnight so we had a lot more time. We took the ferry over there that morning and I think took one of that latest ferries back...I think around 1 or 2. They leave at certain times during the afternoon. Once you get there, you leave when you feel like it. What time frame are you in port?

Yes, where the video was is near the ferry docking. They had been feeding some of the dolphins. It was very interactive the day we were there. We heard about the $19 kiss photo here on these boards. We booked the $65(or whatever it is now) beach day. Then when we got to Blue Lagoon we went to the gift shop area and told them we wanted the kiss photos. They told us when to be back and that was that. That was last year. I would think they still do that, but it wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email to make sure.

  9. I copied this from my enchantment review. We did Blue Lagoon last year and loved it. The $19 "kiss" with the dolphin was well worth it. We still have those pictures out.

Nassau: We did the Blue Lagoon Beach Day. It was a great excursion. We loved the boat ride over. The island was not crowded at all and again we had a stretch of beach to ourselves. We did the “guest photo”. For $19 each, we got into the water and a dolphin kissed us. We got to keep the photo. We really lucked up. We timed it perfectly. At 11:00am the trainers were coming off of break and the encounter and swim people were up doing their training. So after our picture, the trainer let us stay in the water and interact with the dolphin. We got to pet it, rub its belly and rub its teeth. We more than got our $19 worth! As we were waiting for the boat one of the dolphins started a game of catch with Arianna. He would take a ball and throw it with his mouth to her on the dock. She would catch it and throw it back. It was adorable. She says it was the highlight of her trip. Lunch on Blue Lagoon is included in the beach day and was very good. We were very happy with the day.

Here is a link of Arianna playing catch with the dolphin. It was totally unplanned and so cute!

  10. We went to cockleshell. When we were there in May you could walk a foot or two into the water, but then there was a considerable drop off to get into deeper water. I watched people struggle with it all day. The food was good at the restaurant. The bathrooms (2 stalls) were clean. Had to change in the bathroom. We thought about the Marriott but with it being on the Atlantic side, you run the risk of rougher waves. Our taxi driver took us by there to look and it was very windy that day and the waves looked down right dangerous so we decided against it.

  11. Hi all. I've gone through several pages of posts and have gotten lots of information. But since everyone's needs are different, and I couldn't find a post similar to my specific scenario, I thought I'd post yet another Fll to POM question. (Sorry) Here are my specific needs...

Flying in late (after 10pm) into Fll.

Solo cruiser, so will want someplace safe.

Want someplace clean, fairly recently updated, free breakfast.

Will want a place the shuttle services to POM will pick up at.

Will need (preferably free) shuttle service from airport to hotel.

Reasonably priced... I don't want to spend over $150. $100-125 would make me very happy.

Since it's just a place to lay my head for a couple hours, a place close to the beach, shops, etc is not required.

    Thanks for the help!

  12. Sailed Majesty at the beginning of the month. Scheduled to fly in the night before arriving at 12:30am. Notice the word scheduled. Due to there not being a gate available at our connection city, we missed our flight to Miami. Thankfully there were multiple flights the next day - except they were all fully booked. We got lucky and they were willing to oversell one of those flights to get us there, but we were quite exhausted by the time we got to the ship.

For fun, our flight home from our connection city got cancelled as well. Thank goodness for travel insurance.

Oh my word. I would have been a wreck coming and going.

  13. Thank you all for the replies. I don't fly much but I guess I've been lucky and never had a sizable delay. I may just take an extra day of vacation and enjoy the day before. I am going to search for hotels in the FLL or MIA areas. If any of you have stayed at some that are not expensive, please feel free to share.

  14. There is a AA flight leaves 7am on the 6th direct to MIA arrives 10:20am.

Google Flight Matrix it might help you searching airlines quickly. However it does not show charter type flights like South West but it will help you see all flight times quickly for major airlines.

Thank you. I did see that one. But for the cost of the flight, I can fly in the day before and stay at a hotel. It's a racket I tell ya!
