  1. I'm in an interesting situation... still waiting to hear back from my TA.

I originally received $100 OBC from NCL and a free upgrade from ocean view to a BD Balcony.

My booking has gone down $120, so I could stay with my same booking and net out +$20 (lose $100 OBC, but pay $120 less for the cruise).

    OR

I can upgrade to just straight booking the BD for $80 more for the week. I would lose $100 OBC but would gain the UDP, which is valued at $238. This would mean I'm up $58. I guess this one makes the most sense, if I plan on spending more than $58 in the speciality restaurants... which seems like only 1-2 dinners max.

    Decisions, decisions.

  3. Hello CC - I posted this on the NCL forum, but got no replies... maybe this is the more appropriate place for this:

Looking to book a snorkeling excursion on my Eastern Caribbean GA cruise in May and was wondering if anyone had feedback on the three that NCL offers:

    Athol Island Snorkel - $39pp, 2.5hrs

Board your powered catamaran for a narrated harbor cruise on the way to the snorkeling site off of Athol Island. While cruising around one of the most beautiful harbors in the world, you'll be briefed on historical points of interest as well as the homes of the rich and famous. Once at the snorkel site you'll discover the real beauty of the Bahamas. You'll snorkel in some of the clearest water you've ever seen. The friendly staff will guide you along the reef and highlight the fish that you see, answering any questions that you might have.

    Seahorse Sail & Snorkel - $49pp, 3.5hrs

This tour offers the ideal combination of sailing and snorkeling. After a short stroll, you'll board your catamaran, which features a shaded lounge and spacious deck, for a cruise through historic Nassau Harbor en route to one of two spectacular reefs. Here, you'll see natural coral reefs teaming with the ocean's wildlife on a snorkel adventure. During your sail, you'll receive your snorkel gear and instructions from the knowledgeable crew, who will accompany you into the water to ensure your safety and enjoyment. Unlimited rum punch is offered after snorkeling, and a full premium cash bar is available at an additional cost.

    Undersea Snorkel - $44pp, 2.5hrs

See the best of Nassau Harbor's oldest cities and its history while enjoying music aboard a double-deck 48 foot catamaran. When you reach the snorkel site, dive in and spend the next hour exploring the undersea world with a live colorful reef and where the fish can feed from your hands.

  5. It was Wednesday night, they blasted 80s music during the 5 min show. Deck space was at a premium, everyone was outside at this moment. It was pretty cool set to music, wasnt 4th of july quality but decent to see em shot off the deck of a cruise ship

I don't know if this is consistent, but are the fireworks visible from balconies on the side of the ship?

  6. This post coincides with what I was sure I had read here before. If you call and purchase ahead of time: no taxes. If you buy once you have sailed: no taxes. If you buy when you get on board while the ship is still in port: you WILL pay taxes.

I wish the search function works, because I know that's been mentioned somewhere before in one of the billion UBP threads.

Yeah - while I have no personal experience, I have read, rather extensively, that you should call ahead as it saves on the taxes (versus purchasing as soon as you get onboard). My dilemma is that I'd like to use OBC... I hadn't thought of waiting until it's in international waters though...

I wonder if it would "retroactively cover" any drinks I bought on the ship prior to buying UBP.

  7. Hello all!

I'm sorry if this is a previous post, but as I live in South Florida the easiest way for me to get to the "Getaway" is to drive there. However, does anyone have any experience with leaving your personal car at the port and its safety? And - does anyone know where the best and safest parking for NCL's terminal is?

    Thanks so much!

    P

Might be cheaper to cab, depending on where you live in SFL... I lived in Brickell and it was well cheaper to take a cab to POM than to park my car, but obviously Brickell is quite close.
