  1. Our first cruise was with another couple who had cruised before. It was great to have them along to help us out. We have now recruited more friends to join our vacation obsession. It's fun to watch them get more comfortable with each cruise.

Things I learned after the 1st..

If you workout, bring a few workout outfits. You may decide to use them, I had to walk in swimsuit on my 1st. Better to have than to want. Most important, get on the ship as early as possible. You are paying for the day, let your vacation begin.

  2. The first time this question was asked I was a little confused. Then thought here we go, starting to get less for my money. After a few cruises I don't really see why I need the room cleaned up twice. We are gone from the room almost all day, It's not dirty. We pick morning service. Steward stops by at night and gives fun times and change beach towels.

  3. I have cruised on Royal, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, and Norwegian. I LOVE the food on Norwegian. I didn't think Celebrity was all that amazing. The atmosphere and entertainment on Carnival is the best. We love the trivia during the day, the theater shows, comedians, and piano bar at night. They really are the fun ship. Carnival's food is ok, I cruise with them so often I would love to see the menu change a little. I feel the service on all is the same, they are there to please us. The big picture for me, I'm on vacation. The ports are the same and so is the ocean.

  4. Forgive my ignorance, why is this a problem? If they are using the threadmill as a treadmill then it’s up to them how long their work out takes, surely.

If cruise ships stocked twenty five treadmills, two dozen bikes, a dozen elipticals, and a dozen rowers, then it wouldn't be a problem.

Point being, there are often multiple people waiting to use a treadmill as they are without doubt the most popular piece of equipment in the most gyms, cruise ship fitness centers included. In the morning hours is when I see them the most busy.

They auto-shutoff after 30 minutes for a reason. To get you off and allow the next person to come on. Most ship gyms I have seen also post signs indicating that time should be limited to 30 minutes when people are waiting.

  5. I noticed the ports are far from Anchorage airport. Seems like a hassle to get from Seward or Whitier to Anchorage. The easiest way looks like booking transfer with cruise line. Which is why I was considering the RT from vancouver.

Is the extra hassle worth it?

  6. I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on taking a round trip cruise from Vancouver VS. a one way trip from vancouver? Planning a cruise next summer. We are in are our 40's and our aunt and uncle are in their late 60's. We don't plan on doing any land tours. Just interested in a relaxing cruise and seeing the sights. Appreciate any tips, comments, opinions.

  7. I just received an email that carnival is implementing staggered check in times. This is my 4th carnival cruise and have never had this happen before. Luckily I got a time slot the first hour. I don't agree with this process. I'm paying for that first day and want to get on as soon as I can to begin my vacation. I would be very upset if I had a late check in time. Any opinions or experiences?
