Thats what I needed today Kalos, full blown argument today with in-laws both my husband and myself had words today full on blow out for me and been crying all day because of it , because it’s not like me but it’s been brewing for two years, anyway they have agreed to get carreas in now so I’m in the process of that , I refuse to be ffffed at after spending 8 hours a day with them , but no apology from his father stubborn so & so ,  but it was all aired today and I will make the phone all tomorrow to start the ball rolling, taken advice from a few on here 😔

Oh dear.Hopefully things will get easier when carers are put in place. My Mum was discharged from hospital last year with 4 carers but said she didn't need them because my sister lived nearby! My sister, who still works, insisted that she kept one visit from carers a day and although my Mum still insists she doesn't need help she keeps the one care visit to keep my sister happy Thinking of you.Take Care

If that were the case, MSC and Costa wouldnt be sailing. Just my feeling.

I think one difference bewteen P and O and Costa and MSC is that for P and O most sailings are from Southampton with mainly UK passengers. If there was a bad outbreak of covid onboard a P and O ship it may put people off from travelling with them again.Costa and MSC have a wider market and lots of ports for embarkation.P and O have got more to lose

In the many cruises I have done I have had lots of inside, some outside, and some balcony.

To be honest the most pointless were the outside, and I was glad we got them ‘free’ as I really couldn’t see the point.

Balconies vs inside - well it depends on you.

For me cabins are used for three things, none of which requires a window, and most of my time is spent off the ship or enjoying the facilities elsewhere on the ship.

If there are lots of sea days then a balcony can be useful if only to avoid the hoards on deck, but that for £90 a day - nah.

I am like you in that for me its an inside, if a short cruise and lots of Ports of call but I like a balcony on a longer cruise with a lot of sea days to provide somewhere to escape to!

    Ann,

My wife and I were on the last Saga cruise that sailed in March last year. That was our first Saga cruise, and we are now hooked, having booked three for 2022 - we have written this year off. I wrote a review of the cruise - I didn't post it anywhere; I wrote it because some of the friends we have made while cruising said they were considering Saga, and they would like to read a warts and all report from someone who had cruised with them. It's a little too long to post here, but I'd be happy to send it to you in a PM if you are interested.

    Bob

    Thank you 😊

OK, thanks, one nostril or both? one of mine is almost blocked by bone

I'm sure if you mention that to P and O staff they will be fine with one nostril as that is what the self testing kits advise

Started off overcast this morning but has turned into another glorious sunny day, slapped on the sun cream today. Beaumaris Castle was amazing, named the best castle that never got completed. Managed to walk the part of the outer curtain walls and part of the walls of the inner keep, view across the town,  the Menai St and Snowdonia spectacular from the high walls of the keep.

This afternoon visited South Stack, decided not to go to lighthouse after seeing steep descent, it’s not the going back up that is the problem, my knee wouldn’t cope. Saw numerous puffins, gulls and choughs on the cliff face, some serious photographers there with some amazing photography equipment.

Back at apartment now, all quiet as the pilots at RAF Valley have put away their “toys” for the day, preparing evening meal which will be downed with a glass or possibly 2 of a French White wine I had for Father’s Day, followed by some French cheese.

    Sounds lovely

Think I might take a bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced on my Iona cruise. My favourite mixer is Coke, diet version with no caffeine. The Coke is in cans, will I have a problem taking 8 of them aboard ?

You shouldn't have a problem taking 8 cans of coke aboard.P and O say a reasonable amount of soft drinks is allowed and I think up to 12 cans is allowed onboard Princess

Glorious day in Anglesey yesterday with wall to wall sunshine, took a nice short walk along the coast yesterday morning, relatively quiet in this part of the island, lots of palm trees and Aloe Vera plants, reminiscent of a place we stayed in Andalusia a few years ago.

Off to Beaumaris Castle today, overcast at moment, but sun trying to break through as we look across the bay from apartment window.

It sounds lovely. Its definitely on my To visit list.Enjoy the rest of your holiday

We are Caribbean tier and our check in time was 2.45.  After testing etc we got to terminal building about 12.30 where we sat waiting for the test results (20 mins).  After getting the all clear we were sent straight through to check-in.  Once checked in we went to another holding area and were then boarding at about 1.15.  As others have said boarding for everyone didn't start until just after 1pm.

Do you know what happens for those who arrive by taxi rather than private car.We are travelling to Southampton by train and then will get a taxi to the port .Normally the taxi drops us off where our bags are taken and we go into the terminal building.Presumably we can't go into the terminal building until after we have been tested?

But P&Os passenger demographic has a high percentage of lift users.

Which means  more of a reason that those of us who are easily able to walk up a few flights of stairs should do so.I rarely use the lifts on P and O unless travelling up more than 5 flights though on our last Cunard cruise there was often no one waiting at the lifts so if that was the case I would catch it up a few flights

Just back from this morning's Vaccine Hub shift.  We were told when we started today that it was now compulsory  to wear both mask and shield.  Yesterday it was a Pfizer clinic so they offered LFTs because the attendees had to wait 15 after being vaccinated and they found 3 positive cases all with NO symptoms.

    Take care everyone.

Oh dear.Take care and thank you for all you do

The library was really not too bad, January/February 2020, so almost Ventura’s last sailing.  I was going to elaborate on the types of work available

but then I realised - they won’t reopen it at the moment, will they?

The computers can be wiped down between users but the pages of the books can’t

Are public libraries operating just now?  I don’t think I will be borrowing in the near future, though I suppose they have sufficient stock and space to quarantine items between borrowings

Not sure about ships libraries after July 19th but most public libraries are open now.At ours you have to sign in etc and are only given 15 minutes to look round but better than being shut.Venturas library (like other ship libraries) also has a selection of reference books, including travel books which I find useful sometimes though you can't remove them from the library.

I tried them for an annual quote and it was very expensive compared to other quotes we had received so I gave them a miss.

I think its something like the Civil Service sports club or similar but includes public authority workers and others. When I looked the price for over 65 s seemed reasonable (I think it was about £300 but I only considered it because it includes medical conditions as long as you are fit to travel. At the moment we get insurance through our bank but  may consider it in the future

Never drink soft drinks apart from water, but the Princess forum has a long thread about the new policy. I think you can take on 12 cans,  as long as you carry them on yourself.

Or, just buy the Princess Plus package.

Due to health problems I can only have one alcoholic drink a day and hubby doesn't drink at all. However I will be buying the soda package but will still bring a few cans to drink in the cabin.

Princess policy, aimed at American cruisers who have been abusing the soft drink policy.  Unbelievable!

i couldn't find it on the Princess website.I am a bit of a diet coke addict and like to have some cans in the cabin but only ever bring it on in hand luggage.Thats the problem with people bringing on excess alcohol and/or soft drinks in that the cruise companies will  eventually stop people bringing on any.Nothing wrong in bringing on the allowed amount whether alcohol or non alcohol

Thanks all. I don’t feel quite so bad taking soft drinks and mixers on now ! Husband said I was being a bi of a skinflint.

I usually bring some soft drinks onboard to have in the cabin but am sure I have read somewhere (can't find it now) that only cans can be taken onboard, partly to reduce the use of plastic. It may be on the Princess cruises website but i can't find it on p and O or Princess website now. I am sure no one will check but i do remember thinking that next time i cruised with Princess or P and O I would pack cans.As others have said it is possible to bring more onboard at port stops.

Thanks I will be phoning the bank

May i ask what number you use to pay P&O as their web page does not seem to have this option

Its a while since we booked a P and O cruise but I think we probably just phone the freephone number 08000523840 and choose the pay balance option.I prefer to pay it that way in case the computer crashes!!They also confirm that the payment has gone through once credit card details are given

Getting worried about this. After getting the natwest verification request with the wrong phone number I checked my natwest credit card account and no money is pending. I also made sure my mobile number on P&O was the correct one. Just tried to pay again but yet again the natwest verification pop up had the wrong mobile number. Some thing is seriously wrong somewhere. Maybe that Natwest verification pop up is a scam? but how can it be, it pops up from the P&O online payment page and has the htpps address.

there is a helpline number listed and I checked it out but some say it may be a scam and others say it is natwest

Can you pay P&O via a phone call?, I know there phone lines are not manned on sundays

I have a really bad feeling about this 😟

We always pay by phone.Perhaps you could phone your bank and talk it over with them. The fraud line are usually there during the night and they may be able to reassure you

A quiet day today after a busy week in the garden, installing new security cameras, plus an online session with hospital physio. Lots of birthday messages, but won’t see my children until tomorrow or Monday evening. Youngest son was out on business today, so is visiting tomorrow, daughter comes out of self isolation on Monday, so Monday evening will be a Father’s Day and Birthday in one as she has been in isolation on 2 occasions since 21 June, period of the teaching profession.

Tomorrow we will turn to the thoughts of packing for our week away in North Wales this coming week, what to take as forecast looks mixed. This will be first holiday since a break in Devon in October 2019, 2 cruises cancelled in 2020, none booked this year due to uncertainty.

Happy Birthday! My sons birthday was on Wednesday and his present was England winning. It is his father in laws birthday tomorrow and he's hoping for a winning birthday too!

My annual insurance is blanket cover - no pre existing conditions need to be declared. The only proviso is that you are physically fit to travel.

Is that the civil service/Local authority insurance?
