1. How would u get an obc for a downgrade? Or am I misunderstanding? I thought u could only upgrade on ES unless u were canceling and rebooking. Sorry, I'm confused

Personally, it just depends on who you get...they were going to let me tho!

  2. Don't move. My wife and I had one on the Liberty when we sailed on her in December. The cabin feels more spacious and the balcony is twice the size as a normal balcony. Our balcony had a lounger, a small table and 2 chairs. See my attached picture. We checked out the suites prior to debarkation, and our balcony was much nicer. In terms of noise, despite being under Punchliners we hardly heard a thing.

I think you have settled it for us. We've already paid, and I've been looking forward to this cabin since we booked--totally excited for the lounger :) Plus, we already have $80 in OBC, which we would lose....If we were able to keep the $80 and use the current promotion, I'd move, but for only $50 more...we'll keep her.

  3. We have a 8A balcony on the glory, one of those weird extended balconies but not categorized as such (6450). However, we could receive $218 in OBC if we move to a guaranteed balcony...

Is it worth it? And are there obstructed balconies on the Glory? I've been googling it but haven't found the answer...

    TIA!

  4. The true test of a Carnival "lover" would be being true to one self answering the question, if Carnival and RCCL were priced the same same, which would they choose?

Carnival. I don't need a Coach store, or a mall on my ship. I don't need a rock climbing wall...All I need is good service, the ocean or a drink in my hand.

I've never sailed RCCL, and I have no desire to sail with them, even if the price was the same. Now if the price was cut in 1/2 of Carnival's (like MSC in October), then we'll talk...

  5. I love carnival because it's fun--we like to chat with new people, eat and drink to our heart's content and carnival allows us to do that for a good price. We have to fly anywhere to cruise (we live in the upper Midwest) so Carnival allows us to cruise 1-2x/year.

We've cruised 4 times, and each time, great service. In the words of my fiancé, "why would we cruise another line? We know what to expect, and it's always great service for a great price."

With that said...we are cruising MSC in October and I'm quite apprehensive about it, however, we got a 7 day cruise for $650 for both of us for just an interior room. This allows us to cruise and get the drink package--both fit perfect into our honeymoon budget. Hopefully we'll like it! Otherwise, we'll just drink more. HA.

  6. I am trying to decide about the cheers program.....since my husband died of a massive heart attack in September :( :( our son is going in his place ... we had 2 cruises booked before he died....our platinum cruise was in November ...and then we had this 8 day cruise next month that he was SO excited about. Our son will be 21 in a couple of days after the cruise has ended .... (and I know this is wrong...and will get MANY ugly comments.....if I did get the cheers program for just me...since it is just the 2 of us ... I could basically split the 15 drinks between the two of us? I know I could come NO WHERE near drinking that many...I have maybe 2 specialty drinks a day ... and my husband and i had Bud Light most of the other time...because that is what we do/did at home ...... but how would I figure out if I would come out ahead doing the Cheers program? How much would it be on an 8 night cruise? With just one person?

Let them talk. You guys go and have fun. Buy the cheers and share it with your son. I'm sure he's never drank before ;) you and your son deserve to have a good time without worry...it's tough what you have been through, and I'm sure it's been tough on your son. Let the morality judgers judge while you're in the sun :)

  7. Freeport is a terrible port in my opinion. So, I would be happy, happy, happy to get an OBC!

Totally agree! Been there twice and will stay on the ship next time.

  8. At the beginning of the week I did see limes in several Mojitas coming from the bar near the atrium down the hall from the Black and White Lounge - maybe they ran out or maybe they only stocked them in certain bars where fruity drinks are most popular. since I don't care for lime I wasn't really looking for them. it's possible that there is a shortage and they just did not get a supply that they ordered. I certainly would not judge how enjoyable a week at sea was based on whether or not there were limes. My husband recently survived prostate cancer, so I could every day with him as a day to cherish and I just had 7 of them on the Divina!

There is actually a lime shortage....it was in the news :(

  10. No problem. I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. I think you'll love it!

Thank you again! We'll be on her in October, and it looks awesome :) Something that we do every cruise is eat bagels and smoked salmon for breakfast...Did you see that? :)

  11. Looking for reasonably priced photographers in San Juan to do a trash the dress shoot...We wanted to get married in San Juan (fiancé is Puerto Rican) but his parents aren't in the best of health. Instead, we jumped on the cheap MSC cruises, and will be in PR on October 22...Anybody recommend any?

(I have googled but only found the ones that are quite a lot of $$)

    TIA!

  12. Wow, now maybe I think I shouldn't have booked the Divina for a cruise in October. Our family has sailed Carnival, Princess, Disney and NCL. Truly we have never had a bad cruise experience, but I guess our expectations are on the low side.

We have tattoos, some have piercings, we don't mind wearing jeans and I shop at Walmart. It is a disappointment to read the comments of a few on these boards. I work hard at my full time job, my husband busts his tail off working long hours, we rescue cats, I work a part time job when I can. We are Disney Vacation club members and we also look for the best priced vacation we can get and we try to cruise a few times a year. We work hard for our money and don't have a lot of extra cash for vacations. But with good prices I have managed to be able to book us 3 cruises in the same year. Just because we aren't upper class doesn't make us bad people.

When in October-we are oct 18th :) we are also huge cat lovers and rescuers. Also, the fiancé has a few tattoos, so sounds like you'll fit right on in with us ;)

  13. We still talk about the greatest waiter we've ever had--Kittyphong on the Ecstasy in Nov 11. She's an older ship, but WOW for the crew and the service.

In Key West, we loved the pub crawl excursion. The year before, we did the glass bottom boat. DON'T. NOT worth it. I know other people who have did it, and we all agreed--small boat=rough ocean, takes 75 minutes to get to the spot to look, then you're there for about 30 minutes, and another 75 minutes to get back...The smell of vomit was overwhelming from everybody that got sick.

...And of course, check out the cat man on the pier :D
