Just boarded the Ruby. Our dining time is 5:15 Traditional Enhanced Dining. Not seen this one in all my Princess cruises. Our booking said 5pm when they made those dining time changes. Anyone know what it is? Regular Traditional is at 5 in another dining room.

We used Jiffy Jeff and he was $15/person for POM to FLL airport. You would need to check his website for which hotels he will pick up from in Fort Lauderdale. We had a ride to the ship with family but not a return so we only used him one direction but he does both.

We missed Grand Cayman the week of 1/27 this year due to large swells. We had a lot of wind that week.

for the late snackers....isn't that what Room Service is for??
As long as you can get to a person and they answer the phone. We never could get someone late night and we were Aurea.

question - are port charges based on the length of time in port at all? We did get to Cozumel 3 hours earlier than planned so I wonder if that port charge went up in relation to the Grand Cayman going down.

Erica ... I do get where you are coming from but a little bit of pre cruise work would have given you the information before you cruised on extra charges, everyone has a choice as Bea says when it is not all included ie you either pay to use it or choose not to.
Travel agents have a duty to tell you about any extra charges as do MSC is you book direct with them, it is always worth spending an hour or two to check things out on your own.
One reason the cost of the other lines is far higher is because almost everything is included for everyone whether you use it or not and no reduction in cost if you do not drink such as on NCL with their included drink package.
MaMa ... The water slides are free for all onboard to use and has nothing to do with which experience you choose.
Yes I know...was just using it as an example of something that was free. Mostly I was saying what the others said. Pay more for a higher experience and pay less on the ship or pay less and then pay only for what you want in the ship. For us, Aurea covered everything we wanted so we paid for Aurea and had a very small invoice at the end.

I think it depends on what experience you book. We were on Seaside in Aurea the week of 1/27 and left with the lowest bill I’ve ever had coming off a cruise. Drink Packaged covered anything we wanted like drinks and gelato. Shows were included, water slides included and we had spa access. We ate in the MDR and no specialty restaurants. I can see that being expensive since theirs are a la carte unless you buy trio. What items did you pay up charges for?

The Marketplace buffet on Deck 8 was ok for us. We found enough choices and they are open until 3 I think. After 1:30-2pm was not as busy as around 12. MDR for lunch - we only tried it once and it was not a great experience so we never went back at lunch. In the Marketplace, I recommend looking for a table at the back right corner (opposite end from main entrance) Usually not as crowded.

We were on the same cruise as you and would echo the sentiments. The staff was fabulous to us and very attentive. Again, if you are friendly, patient and smile, they will be too. Our family including our 14 year old son enjoyed all the shows. It was great to expose him to the many other cultures onboard. We would sail Seaside again easily! The one thing I found difficult and confusing at times was dealing with the Photo staff and packages. This could be done better and be more organized. Agree on he buffet especially the Biscayne Bay on deck 16. Late afternoon and late night choices need improvement.

Images show more lounges in spa, not sure what 'only 3 loungers' are being referred to. Look at posted images of each of the spa rooms/areas, there are many seating areas and loungers...

Cheers!
There are more regular loungers in the spa but only 3 are the thermal type where they warm up.

We recently stayed at the Residence Inn Dania Beach area. It is fairly new and the rooms are nice. They have shuttle to/from airport and also the cruise port.

Working full time so we do 1 cruise per year typically.

I have not been on the Escape but we were on Koningsdam last year and their thermal area was great. We preferred it over the Seaside’s.

We were on last week. There are 2 steam rooms, light and dark; two saunas, soft and hot; a salt room; snow room. The hydrotherapy pool/hot tub was not hot. Everyone wears swimsuits. 3 thermal loungers. It was an ok spa but not the best.

I have read following in their side:
Special treatments for young guests;
Thermal area: 13 to 15 years olds may enter accompanied by an adult on signature of a waiver front, while 16 and 17 years olds may enter unaccompanied on signature of a waiver.
I understand it in that way that the teens may enter the spa as well,
They would not let our 14 year old use the Thermal area even with us last week. He could have a massage if we signed a waiver for an extra fee.

So one extra lunch in the MDR means they didn't have for 2 dinners? I don't think so.
Butter was also available in the buffet and an extra sea day with 5000 people I think it is possible.

Sorry, I meant to ask before: when you say breakfast and lunch are open seating, does that mean you CAN have lunch in the MDR? My understanding is that the Seashore restaurant was open for breakfast and dinner only, and that the only choice for lunch was the buffet. Is that not the case? Also, if you don't mind, any idea on charges for room service food? I know delivery is free apart from late at night, but are they charging for the food?
Yes you can eat lunch in Seashore. We only did once given it wasn’t the best experience. Not sure on the room service. We tried one night and actually never got any because we could never get through to order and gave up.

On our last night at dinner, they had the Lurpak. It was the only night we didn’t have American butter but asked for the other and he was able to get me one little pack. Seems there was a shortage toward the end which I am attributing to the extra sea day we had in missing Grand Cayman.

Also the sundeck is nice and we enjoyed it. There are children there but they were behaved and our 14 year old son came with us too. He behaved as well.

The Aurea section is only for dinner. Breakfast and lunch are the usual open seating. Breakfast was ok the one time we went. Lunch was not. They were disorganized, forgot to put our food orders in we think (us and a table next to us) as people seated well after us had their main courses. My boyfriend went to the maitre’d as our waiters never came back after serving a starter to us. We waited close to an hour and finally got someone. They then took it from someone else and served us we think. It was not pleasant.

I think they did run out as the buffet did not have any this morning either. They are also out of the little half and half cups for coffee.

We have Aurea and did not tip the massage person nor did they even ask us at the desk on the way out. We tipped our room stewardess extra at the beginning and she has been great. We will be giving extra to the waiter and assistant we had all week in MDR because they too were great. We also plan to give Yuhlia the woman who seats you for Aurea in MDR extra because she knew we liked a certain waiter and let our party of 3 be seated by ourselves at an 8 person table to have them. It was a very busy evening too so we thought that was very nice of her.

Did the ship do anything for Italian night aside from dinner menu? Or just dinner and then white night?

Just dinner then White night. Nothing in particular for Italian night.

Traditional Enhanced Dining?
in Princess Cruises
Posted
I was just asking if anyone knows what Traditional Enhanced is because I had not seen it and it is listed separate from Traditional. I’m well versed on the whole time issue.
I will let you know if it is different or not after we go
