  1. Actually, Cruis'nMaMa, it was reading your post that made me go into our booking(s), and once again get totally frustrated with their website.

Couldn't believe what they'd done to you, so I was double-checking that our cabins were still what we'd booked, and then I got all riled up over the other issue of how inept and feckless they are with their website.

Hope you get a good outcome, but isn't it awful and disgraceful that you're even going through this?

Yes I am totally frustrated! We were all set and so looking forward to our vacation and now it is all so unsure! I had been reading about it happening to others on the boards so I was checking regularly. Still nothing and my booking still shows Guarantee ☹️

  2. The UK website has been messed up for over 5 years let alone 10 months! we can no longer see details of the previous cruses taken apart from the ship names and the last one from last month is missing ... :o

On the UK site it clearly says our Final payment date for our Seaside 23rd December 2017 sailing is 23/10/2017, arrived home earlier to find an e mail requesting payment within the next 7 days then further down the paper work it states payment must be made 9 weeks prior to sailing ...

Once again it shows that the Left hand does not know what the Right hand is doing.

No idea about the USA but on this document it also says now "Final cabin numbers may change till departure date. Msc will guarantee same or higher type of cabin category."

While we know that they have been doing this, it is the first time it has appeared on documents in six cruises with them.

Change our Suite MSC and the sh*t will fly ...

They just did it to me. Took away the Grand Suite I specifically selected and made it a Guarantee! Still waiting to hear if they are going to put it back! Not cool.

  3. I'm thinking along those same lines. Someone probably complained loud enough to the right person and went from a 1br/1ba Grand Suite to the OP's 14001.

How many people were booked in the OP's Grand Suite? If less than 5, MSC might have "moved" the OP to another GS because someone else "needed" it.

I have 3 people booked, us and our teenage son so a 2 bedroom was attractive for privacy.

I am still waiting to hear back from my TA. Needless to say, I was looking forward to trying MSC but this does not leave me with a great impression. I am selective in my cabin choice and it’s important to me. Have been on many cruises in my life so I know what I like.

I will post an update when I hear and am keeping my fingers crossed!

  4. Just experienced what everyone is talking about in regards to MSC. I booked on Seaside for Jan 2018 back in Feb 2017. Booked one of the infamous Aurea Grand Suites 14001. Has been on my booking every time I checked. Not today however! My travel agent is not in so I called direct. Come to find out MSC decided to change me to a Guarantee this past Friday. I am not happy and if they don’t get my cabin back I will cancel. My final payment was due soon. Glad I haven’t paid. They escalated it to the Management Team.

So mostly I’m posting to tell everyone to check their bookings in case Friday was a day they did many changes.

Adding some more info from my TA who talked to them too. Apparently they were “updating” itineraries in the system and it made my booking revert to Guaranteed and released my cabin.

  6. MSC offers a status match program so if you have higher past passenger status on another cruise line, MSC will give you the equivalent status.

On their website they tell you to fill out a form and send it in to obtain the status match.

When I did that and didn't receive any reply, I called MSC. MSC said I had to book a cruise first, than they would give me the status match.

Has anyone found out which is the correct procedure to obtain status match?

For me, I booked the cruise first I think. I filled out the form online, attached a PDF copy of my status from Princess and submitted it. They sent my match within a day or 2. I then had my TA apply it for the discount.

  7. Well that's interesting that you got a package on Seaside for 2018 at the $98 and Divina shows $199. We do like to have the photos taken on the ship, I just can't understand the reason for such different levels of pricing in the same market. Oh well, should have booked it sooner, I guess now I will end up paying more. Though the size of 12x14 photos is making me think twice.

I'm not sure either. I figured I better get it now before it changes. My other thought is Seaside may still be low as an introductory promotional since it's a new ship.

  8. I just went on the USA site and purchased it for our January 2018 Seaside cruise and it was $98. The photo quality is usually very good on cruises I have found. There are times I don't want to carry my camera and we don't carry our phones around on a cruise usually. I also like getting the formal portraits done since I don't do that at home often.

  9. Princess Cays is ok. I find it rocky and yes the cabanas are not on the water directly. Also, there are many times my Princess cruises have had to skip it due to conditions making it unsafe to tender in. Will be visiting HMC next week for the first time and am excited to compare.

  10. My first cruise was in 1981 at 8 years old. My parents took me on Sitmar Cruises, Fairwind. Was a cozy inside room where I got to sleep in an upper berth. Everyone treated you so nice and even at 8 years old I remember the fantastic Italian food. Some cooked table side. The first time you ordered something like chocolate milk, they brought it each evening without asking. We went to the Caribbean. My parents were hooked and I was too. Would love to go every year but it averages every 2. Heading to the Koningsdam on HAL this coming Sunday!
