  1. we took the shuttle downtown (can also walk) and shopped a bit and went to this great Irish Pub for food & irish cider. We really enjoyed it. Beautiful city.
  2. thanks for the info. no worries.. I usually bring my own bread and crackers. appreciate your input. Thinking of WS for Norway/Scotland
  3. thanks for your reply. I did correct the listing for O
  4. HI All, could find no info here on gluten free on WS so wondering if someone could provide info.. I just off Azamara and they were spectacular with my gluten free need. went over and above..Celebrity not so good..... anyone have allergy experiences in WS? I am a seasoned cruiser (over 50 cruises on many lines) so know about notifying them and meeting when on board... just looking for someone that has actual experience with an allergy on WS. Would really like to try their line. thanks so much. all info is appreciated.

  6. Hello we are spending several nights pre cruise late August 2023 in Vancouver. Would like to stay in Mt Pleasant/Cambie St area as there are many gluten free eating options for me. Hotels/guest houses, etc you can recommend? I can look them all up but would like to have a recommendation. Is it doable/safe to walk from here to downtown, Gaslight area, etc? we are walkers...
  7. Thanks so much for this info. Yes We are coming to your area in late August early September 2023 for an Alaska cruise and plan on spending 3-4 days in Vancouver. Some great ideas.I did have the Sea to Sky on my list for post cruise and the harbor tour sounds great. A few questions if you don't mind. I am gluten free and it seems there are many GF eateries in Mt Pleasant. particularly Cambie St area. Can you recommend any of the guest houses in that area? Is this area ok to walk around in? We are good walkers and do walk a lot on our travels. Is is doable to walk to the downtown area from here? Any experience with the HOHO bus? We are coming from Florida and will not have a car. thanks so much for taking the time to respond & provide your local insight.
  8. Vegetarian is clearly marked on the menus as is gluten free. I think sometimes people assume vegetarian is gluten free....but does not hurt to double check. Also the menus for the cruise are posted on the Celebrity phone AP. As far as customer service,,, the staff was very friendly and always smiling... the fact that SO many were new to the ship & Celebrity I think was the issue. It is just discouraging. I am hoping that all those 'new' staff will receive more training and be more seasoned for our next voyage. Being honest..... Royal Carribean was much better for gluten free eating & going out of their way to be sure I had different foods.
  9. we loved the Irish Times Pub.. great food, drink and beautiful pub
  10. thanks so much. the info is very helpful!
  11. Was there in October.... West St Cafe great and price was reasonable... Stewmans great and nice atmosphere... buy more $$$ Have been to Geddys also very pricey ($38 for lob roll)and I did not feel 'lobsta' roll was as good at all. No taste= cold fries. So busy we did not see our waiter again after we got our meal. very dissapointed Just my experience
  12. Having grown up in New England with summers on the Vineyard, I would love to be there again ( our family were extras in JAWS when filmed in the 70's). So you probably will dock in Oak Bluffs as that is the most cruise ship friendly. Depending on your port times... OB has the merry go round... great small shops & restaurants. In June the Island bus will be running between OB, Vineyard Haven and Edgertown. Edgertown is a bit more upscale, with lots of shops, restaurants, a nice harbor, etc. Vineyard Haven is more relaxed & laid back. We used to love to sit and just watch the ferries unload from Woods Hole (mainland MASS) in VH. Be sure to get fish or 'lobsta' roll while there. Renting a car can also be an option as was said before. You could drive to the smaller towns around (Menemsha, Chilmark- sm fishing village) or the red cliffs of Gay Head.
  13. yes ....we have been researching this tour as well for 2023. Every review I have read is very positive. seems like you get several mini tours in one.. mini tour of town... boat ride... and looks like a great meal... I have contacted the lodge and they confirmed that it will run for 2023. Also gluten free is no problem and they can accommodate no fish people (hubby) with chicken. Sounds like a great value to me. We will be going.
  14. Hello considering using this service in Vancouver BC pre-cruise...feedback from anyone who has used them? I know it is a free service but want to be appropriate and have proper expectations. How long should I expect a stroll to be? DO I tip the person hosting the stroll? thanks so much for your feedback.
  15. A toss up with foliage.. depends on temperature and rain, etc when peaks. We just cruised this route September 11-21, 2022. No color to speak of yet. I am sure they will offer more excursions as we get into 2023. In Sydney we did the partial Cabot Trail with Blackwood Tours would highly recommend they were great and we saw more things than other tours had. even did the fun short car ferry to the trail. Halifax had a great walking path along the harbor and we visited the Maritime museum. Lots of places to eat. We took the ferry to Dartmouth (a short walk from ship) and ate at terminal at other side. A nice day. The triangle Pub was fun FYI be sure to change your watch to land time... our phones did not change when on airplane mode and we missed out tour in St Johns.
  16. Hello we are visiting New Orleans on a ship that will dock in NOLA on Monday for 2 nights, Tuesday being Mardi Gras. For those that live close or have been here during this time, your insights on a few things: * on Monday and Wednesday is it reasonable to expect we can do some touring of the city areas or will the crowds be maxed out on those days as well? I know it is a busy time and sightseeing as usual may be limited. * do the restaurants stay open during these days? * suggestions for gluten free eating in the area? any suggestions are appreciated...
  17. we have used SafeCruise parking twice with no issues.
  18. thanks for the info. We are also sailing in January and looking for a reasonable hotel with parking. Did Aloft off a shuttle to the Port?
  19. So I was on the summit 4 months ago and again right now. Love the refurbished done.. lots of nice spaces to relax. This time... Definitely a full ship. And many many new crew that are very green in our opinion. Someone said they just brought in a mostly new crew. I knew the last cruise told us many were leaving over the summer so new crew would be in but so many at one time. They had trouble finding the dining room table numbers.... were not sure of things when asked questions and a noticeable absence of supervisory staff. So the gluten free stuff... 4 months ago I was very pleased with the gluten free response... pre and on the cruise. However today is a different story..... one good thing is that dining room items are clearly marked with allergy options... however our waiter told me they could not make any gf desserts... I thought that odd but okay......food in the dining room to us was very basic....and some lacked flavor. We opted for the buffet and I stuck to the fresh veggies and salad bar. I was looking forward to the gf pizza as I had had it twice several minutes baths ago. This time the staff member said gluten free ok . I advised it was an allergy and it would be cooked in the back with separate veggies right? He looked at me.. opened the door halfway pulled out a. Gf pizza ball unrwrapped it and placed it on a tray that he just unloaded a regular pizza. so much for celebrity ‘ allergy aware’ program...also in the coffee shop, they used to gs from the cookie jar for the gf muffins and macaroon... very disappointed.. I so wanted to love celebrity. They seem lacking in customer service...
  20. Hi all! we will be on a b2b cruise in September 1st thru 15th. would love to see the salmon run. I know there is no schedule for them running but based on your experience where might be best place to plan for viewing! Thanks in advance for your guidance
  21. So we just booked a viking nile river cruise for September 2024 and they wanted full payment by August 2022.. CRAZY- other river cruises and Nile land tours are 60-90 days before. I am going to try to push it forward !!!! We'll see if I succeed....or perhaps rethink this.....
