I don't see the point.  Belfast is a very compact and walkable city.  You miss the local flavor bus cruising by on a bus--or getting caught up in traffic.  Which attractions are you interested in?

Thank you.  I am not sure yet.  Just starting to research this port.

  2. Listed at Gibraltar May 12.

Those summer NYC dates are weird. Where do you go from there for an 8 day cruise?

Oh, well, we are out. Wanted Europe but have to abide by school schedule so will have to wait to see what Royal puts out in a couple months.

Same here. We will either book Royal or MSC.

  3. Nonna5 when is your next cruise. I got the two on the Elation and booked the Valor in Sept. I would like to go on the Sunshine Apr 6th 11 night cruise but can't find anyone to go. The solo rate is about 1300.

Hi Terry - How is everything? Three booked. That is fantastic. My next one is on 1/9 and I think I am booking one if February. I looked at Sunshine 11 night but it is more than I want to pay. I am going to watch and see if it goes down any. But by the time that happens the air will probably bee too expensive. Friends want me to go on one in May on the Breeze that I am thinking about.

  4. What is the cost of this? And my husband had a lap band. He needs to eat slow. Will he feel rushed? Not sure if this something that he would like. Any input would be appreciated.

The cost is $75 per person. It includes unlimited red and white wine. Or you can get tea or soda. It takes about 3 hours for the entire meal. It is not rushed at all. One of the ones I went to actually took 4 hours, but that is longer than usual.

  5. Part two : I thought I was done with the food part but I forgot about the deli this was also very good fresh turkey ,ham ,rubens and many other choices(the cole slaw could use some work) . Across from the deli is the pizza which is pretty good for a ship (it was tough to judge fairly after having pizza in Naples) they have six kinds all looked good. Also on deck 4 they have the tasting bar which is nice for a lighter breakfast or your morning coffee. They also have samples from the sell-up venues it is a very nice spot to sit and relax. The bars: We had most of our drinks at the lobby bar it is very pretty and a lot of action goes on around it .On our first sea day (this cruise had a lot of ports) we checked out the ''Red Frog Pub'' it lookes like a fun spot very large and laid out well it also had the old school shuffle board game(long)and a fosball game both free ,nice touch. They also have a sports bar on deck5(I think) I went to see some football scores and it has a tickertape running 24/7 which was nice it has a nice bar but it seemed alittle sterile to me and most people did not stay long. The only other bar we had a drink at was in the theater in the back I dont think I have seen this on other ships but it was nice place to sit and watch the shows. In fact some people at the bar kind of forgot where they were and had to be shoshed a few times. One of the things Ihad read about this ''new'' ship was how small the theater was and it is small by most ships standards but it was not a problem any night we were there. This was one of the few negaitive things I read that was true .If it is a problem get there early or go to the second floor .Many have also said that the pool is small (there is only one ) I cant say I even noticed but it was a good time anyway ,the hot tubs are the same as other ships and were crowed on sea days (wait till first seating it thins out). The adults only area at the top of the ship was nice and very quiet it has one hot tub that was almost never crowed. This is my first review so I hope it helps people who are looking into this ship I read some bad things on this site but found most were off base I.M.H.O. Now for a few minor quibbles this was a12 night cruise but the A show (with live singing and dancing) only went on 3 times not 3 nights 3 times. I think they were having problems it played twice one night and once another .Carnival is best at this kind of show I.M.H.O. and most people on board did not see it I think that is a shame .Two things that made my cruise better were the singing mater-de Ken byrne this charming irishman sang everynight at dinner each a standard by Sinatra or Perry Como I thanked him every night gave him the thumbs up on the way out ,a real treat. Last thing ,I have been on 13 or 14 ships (some more than once) and for the first time a ship had a pinball machine this was a real treat for me (even at a dollar a game) all my life that was part of a vaction since I was child and went to the Jersey Shore for vaction it is part of the best arcade I have seen on any ship. So would we go with Carnival again ,yes we would they tried hard to please and we thank them for it . As for the Sunshine also a big yes ,is it the newest greatest ship afloat ,no one thinks that but it is a very nice ship with a lot of fun to offer we would do it again in a minute if the ports were right for us.P.S. this was a Med. cruise I know most of will be on Caribbean runs but if anyone is interested in the ports just ask (I will keep it short).

Thanks for the review. Glad to see you enjoyed the ship. I leave tomorrow early am for the TA and first cruise out of NO.

  6. I also wrote to them and got the same response.

Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of this.

I NEVER get any promotional emails. Doesn't matter that I booked using my MC and have used it to set up my onboard accounts. Sorry!

I NEVER get anything from the Casino club. Doesn't matter how much I spend (or don't). Seems like virtual newbies have recently received offers for FREE cruises.

    I NEVER get upgrade offers.

Sheesh. I did my first B2B last October and it seems that every single person who has ever done one received a gift basket in their cabin for Leg 2. Not me!! Not a single thing from anyone.

Is it because I sail too often? Do the marketing folks think "hey, why offer HER anything? She's going to cruise with Carnival anyway! We'll give a bunch of stuff to everyone else and let this solo cruise pay for two people and not offer her one single incentive to continue to cruise with us!!!"

Sorry. I'm just getting a little tired of it. And a plate of chocolates that I don't want and a crappy gift is NOT much of an incentive.

Guess I should STOP booking cruises and then maybe they'll offer me something. But I doubt it! I think I'll go rant at John Heald. Not that he cares (since I'm not going to rave about how WONDERFUL he is).

I also cruise Carnival solo all the time and believe that a lot of it has to do with being a solo cruiser. I have never been offered anything either.

My sister that cruises an average of once a year gets free upgrades (from inside to outside and on her last cruise inside to a balcony) almost every cruise. And before everyone says they do not give free upgrades anymore I know hers are free because I manage her cruises for her and when she gets to the pier she has the upgrades. She also gets things from the players club and I am in the casino more than she is. I also do ship tours when cruising solo and she never does ship tours since she never cruises solo.

By the way I am Diamond and my sister is being grandfathered into Platinum with 10 cruises but only about 60 days. So you might be correct in the frequent cruisers do not get as much as the cruisers that do not cruise as frequently.

But I do enjoy the free gift and do not think they are crappy. I do feel you pain as I have a lot of the same gripes as you.

  9. Got off the 7/29 Triumph sailing and it never showed up. Went to guest services and they were not able to help. Hope it works for some more of you. I still have 3 upcoming cruises I applied for it on but am not looking for it to be there. As someone else said no one ever posted which cruises it was suppose to be good for. Good luck to everyone that has applied for this obc. By the way, I booked my cruises with my Carnival M/C which was also my card registered for my sail and sign.

  10. I never get emials from Carnival either. I have called everyone including their it dept. but nothing has helped me to get emails. I did register for the last promo and got the obc. I am also looking at this one as a wait and see. Not sure what it takes to get on their email list. I don't even think their it department knows.

  11. OK, then my original time table kind of makes sense....

    1. Panama Canal Transit from Tampa to Long Beach - 16 days.

    2. Hawaii Transit no less than 10-12 days.

    3. Sydney Transit - I have no idea but I would "guess" another 10-12 days.

    36-40 Days

I would think the Hawaii to Sydney transit would be more like 16-18 days wouldn't it. Maybe someone who did the Spirit can let us know how long that cruise was.
