  1. Way to go Egon!!!!!

Thanks for the update you two.

I also hope I am able to live a long long healthy life. Unfortunately I do not have genetics on my side. But I can always be the first.

  2. Yellowbird and Party of One thanks so much for keeping us updated on Egon's travels.

I too wish I was able to cruise with him to help him get around. But I only hope that when I am 95 that I am able to get around as well as he does.

  3. My studio cabin that I am booked for this Saturday out of Miami, just fell another $50 for Studio guarantee on the Epic. Too bad they wont price match in terms of OBC.

That is a bummer. That is one of the reasons I like to book with Carnival's early saver. They will give you obc up to 3 days before the cruise. I have ended up with $700 in obc on one cruise.

If I book other lines I do not even check the prices after final payment because it is such a bummer not to be able to get an obc.

  4. There use to not be any outlets in the older ships. There was a room to go to blow dry your hair or use your curling iron or whatever. The only plug was in the restroom and it was only for electric shavers. If you plugged in your blow dryer it would blow a circuit and no one around you would have lights.

Also on the Mardi Gras the bathroom shower was over the commode so when you showered your commode got all wet.

You never had to show your boardings slip to sign for drinks or whatever. Also I remember that you could either set up an onboard account or pay cash throughout the ship.

The funny thing is I pay about the same to cruise today as I did in the early 80's for a cruise. Cannont say that about many things.

  5. Yellowbird have you heard from Egon. I was just wondering if he was able to get over his cough.

So sorry some found it necessary to post such negative posts. Thank you for keeping up with Egon's travels for us.

  6. Has anyone heard if Egon got on his cruise without any problems.

I am not sure why he continues to cruise with MSC either. I guess it is because it is familiar to him.

I am looking forward to his future updates.

  7. I was under the galley one time on the Elation and all I can say is I will never make that mistake again. I am a light sleeper and I could here carts being rolled around most of the night. My husband was not a light sleeper and he did not hear anything. Fortunately I was able to get moved while on the ship. When I got home I called my PVP and asked her to make a note in her files that I do not ever want to be under the galley again. I always check also too make sure before calling her.

If you are a light sleeper I would see if I could change locations.

  8. I confess I did not read all 160 pages. But my question is:

If my cruises returns to Vancouver on Tuesday what would be the earliest flight I should book for my return trip home. The latest flight available is 11:30 a.m.. I will be able to take my luggage off the ship so I am usually one of the first off. Thank you so much.

  9. Just checked our past history, our Dream trip isn't showing up on it! I'll have to call Carnival tonight to fix it, I don't want to be discreditted for future Platinum hopeful status! :)

EDIT: Seems that I was able to put my mum's past guest number through, but can't put it for the others in my family?

I have been told by Carnival IT that you are only allowed one profile per email address. I really think this is something they need to fix. A family really needs to be able to see everyones cruise history in the family.

If anyone finds out how to do this please let me know.

  10. Good news! You got your cabin 12022 on the sailing of 3-10-12.

Just like I thought. They would not tell me why or how they got it, but the important thing is you got it. Personally I think that cabin cancelled.

    Just my thought

I am so glad Egon got his cabin.

  11. I’d rather be cruising and sailing the seas,

Than mopping my floors on my hands and my knees.

I’d rather be cruising to some distant place,

Than having to stay home in this old space.

I’d rather be cruising and snorkeling and such,

Than channel surfing, which I hate very much.

I’d rather be cruising in 2012,

But Santa brought nothing and neither did his elves.

    :D:D:D

    Very very cute.

If it makes you feel any better - Santa or elves did not bring me anything either.

  12. I just found this thread this morning about 4:00 and have been reading it ever since. Just got caught up.

Egon is really a character and probably should write a book.

I have stayed in the hotel he is staying in in Cozumel. Very nice and friendly people but a good distance from town. It was the last land vacation my husband and I took before he passed. Very good memories for me. I was shocked when I read the name (which I thought I recognized) and then saw the pictures.

Yellowbird, partyofone and ladysail2 thanks for keeping up posting with this thread.
