  1. Good to hear from you guys! I have been worried with our lack of attention over here.

We went to Cozumel July 4-11 and had a great time until day 6 when we got sick a week ago Sunday:( And I mean SICK. We haven't felt this sick for YEARS. I had a fever of 103 (actually had a fever for 5 days total), headache, body aches, sinus, and this terrible bone wracking cough. DH got it about 12 hours after I did. Our last 2 days in Cozumel were spent just laying. We felt like lepers on our flight home--fever, coughing, comatose in the seats. Today is the first day I have felt half way decent. I'm still a little tired but SO MUCH BETTER. DH didn't get it quite as bad as I did but, he's still tired when he comes home from work. I couldn't have worked if I had wanted to.

I took some photos but, haven't even thought about going through them yet. I'll post some when I do.

I feel like I have a good FIRE closet. It looks bright and colorful for the most part. I have a few misses--some greens that are a bit too blue, etc. but, for the most part I am really pleased with my FIRE colors. Style--oh, Lordy, do I even have a style???? No, I think I do. I know when something is a miss. Sometimes if the color and price and purpose are right I get it anyway. I have had to come to grips with my enlarging middle as I've aged. it's not huge but, for ME it is as I was always bone skinny with a 24" waist. Well, that went bye-bye with kids and menopause :*

I read about Laurie not liking prints and why she likes to accessorize. It made me think--THAT"S possibly why I ADORE prints--I DON'T like to accessorize and prints do it for me. Thanks, Laurie for making that clear for me. I love eclectic clothing and prints and I think it looks even better now that I buy only FIRE colors. So I now wear, bight, eclectic prints that I feel good in and for the most part look good too (at least in my head  I think the FIRE colors fit my personality too. I love wearing them and even get the stray compliment.

I love to read about all of your thoughts--you're articulate and can type--win-win. Typing is my arch nemesis!

    Good to hear from everyone.

  2. I wanted to share this with all of you--today I was at Lowe's looking at paint chips for our bathroom. The paint person asked me what I was looking for and I told him a warm blue. He looked at me like I was in idiot and said :a warm blue is an oxymoron. There's no such thing as a warm blue." I just looked back at him and said thanks. Guess I won't be asking him for his help :loudcry:

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  3. Doing one of the DNA tests is on my list of things I want to do! It sounds fascinating.

Laurie, I can relate to the looking sick with white. I really do look like death warmed over

Melody, I still lean toward ICE with you. I keep looking back at the ship photo you posted with the black background and you wearing the white/silver top.

  4. You may do to something with winter, the clear colors are definitely good, but some deep winter colors look awful. Can I be a Fire & Ice??? Melody

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Nope-- ICE is clear and blue undertones and FIRE is clear and yellow undertones. Opposites.

Willing to do some color draping and post photos? We can at least give you opinions--now, whether they are right or wrong is debatable

In this photo, you don't look anything like I would with a black/white top and black background (I am a definite FIRE). I would look like death warmed over. I think you look nice in it!

  5. Melody,

It would be interesting to see you do some color drapes :) I'm leaning toward ICE/Winter for you. I "think" the blue lace top you have on in the photo looks more ICE than FIRE.

    Sally,

You make some really valid points on air travel. I can't say long trips are fun but, I just look at it as an inevitable part of the trip if I want to go to far away places.

    Pam,

    Japan sounds exotic :)

  6. Melody,

I wonder if you might be an ICE or maybe and AIR?I could be way off-- does anyone else have any thoughts? Looking at some of the backgrounds of your posted photos--it makes me wonder?????

    Debbie,

How did your green/navy dress work out?

We're going to NOLA to visit our DS soon, excited about that! Going to Cozumel this summer--always fun! That's it for any travel plans for us.

What's everyone else been up to?

  7. Thanks for the additional tips, Pam. Good stuff! No, we have never used Uber. Last cruise with Debbie we rented a car for the 2 days in Ft. Lauderdale. We then drove from Ft. Lauderdale to MIA to drop off and took advantage of the free shuttle to POM. On the way back we used QLS and it was $13/person. We have also used SAS before on a previous cruise.

As I said previously, I am sure we will use remaining credit on SWA and need to fly into FLL. We are even toying with the idea of flying in the day of the cruise if my DH can't get the extra day off before. We have never done that before. We ALWAYS go the day before but, may not have that choice this time :( It makes me nervous but, we will see. I guess we will have to do what we have to do.

The sun beds look so inviting but, we won't spend that much, as usual we are on a budget and our money will go to diving this cruise. I think on Labadee, we will try to find a shady place with loungers and a nice sandy water entry and park ourselves there for the day. Maybe even go check out some of the other areas on the island. I'm not sure how long my DH will just lay around!

Thanks again for all of the info on the Navigator, it sounds like we are in for a great cruise! So excited!!!

  8. Good info, Pam! I WISH we had a balcony on this cruise but, alas it's an inside. But, better inside than landside:D We will be on deck 9 and inside starboard-hopefully nice cabins.

We have Early Traditional dining. The Early Seating is too early and the Late Seating is too late but, I don't think I would like My Time Dining? I like the idea of the same table, same waiter and if we are with other diners at a large table, we have always been lucky to have good tablemates. No food issues with DH or myself--just curb the appetite :(

We don't have our flights yet but, would suspect they will be out of FLL due to us having more voucher credit with SWA.

She had some real issues on board and I ended up being her advocate at Guest Relations. That's a long story and worthy of telling over a glass of wine, believe me.

Let's have that glass of wine (or bottle!). I would love that!!!

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions, appreciated.

Oooohhhh, Laurie, that sun bed looks so inviting! Were they expensive? With the money we are paying to dive in 2 ports and Renaissance Island, not sure I want to spend much at Labadee:(

  9. Thanks for the nice info and tips, Pam. Glad you had a good time! The itinerary seems like a great one--something for everyone and just a little different than the usual Caribbean itinerary.

We have never been to Labadee. From photos it looks lovely and like a great place to spend a lazy beach day :) I think that's what we have planned there.

You stopped in Nassau? We don't have that on our itinerary and I'm glad. I've been there once before and we went to Atlantis for the day. It was nice as my sister and I were traveling with our Mom who used a wheelchair. But, I really don't like the Bahamas :(

I have been to Curacao 3 times and always dive there. We are going to dive there again on this cruise and Debbie and DH are going to snorkel/lounge while we're diving. After that, I think we'll wander around town. It's a fun town and I love the colors there!

I have been to Aruba twice before also. There I "think" we're going to Renaissance Island for the day. It has resident flamingos and is a really nice place to spend the day. if that doesn't work, I "think" we'll go to Palm or Eagle beach, I can't remember which one is further down and more quiet. the city bus is a great way to get around to the beach. I think we paid $2 RT/person last time.

Bonaire is a new one for us. We are going to dive there also. Debbie and DH are going to rent a golf cart and self drive and search for flamingos :)

What did you think of the ship, staff, food, etc.? It will be the largest ship my DH and I have been on. I hope we aren't overwhelmed.

Photos??? So nice to see you posting!
