  1. Agreed with the others. There is a Norwegian's Night Out (I think it was Wednesday night, sailing from Kona to Kaua'i. I'll check our Daily's later) but that doesn't mean a whole lot other than the Captain's pictures and you may see somewhat more formal dress than usual. On any night, the Liberty Dining room and Jefferson's Bistro are requested "nice" dress which is really business casual and above.

  2. We don't tip either. All of our excursions are through NCL and the price should cover everything. Unless someone personally waits on one of us (as in bringing us a drink) there is no need to tip.

Tour operators and staff don't make any more money on tours booked through NCL than if you book separately. In fact, they may make less if NCL gets a bulk rate.

Regardless a bus driver or tour guide does not get any money directly from NCL under any circumstances.

I typically start at $20 and adjust downwards if the tour isn't enjoyable and upwards if it is out of this world. (Road To Hana in Hawaii - 10 hours of near non-stop narration - that driver got $40!)

  3. I was just in a Penthouse suite (11528, large balcony, accessible) last week and I was able to plug my CPAP directly into the outlets in the electrical closet behind the TV and it would just barely reach the bed on the right side. The brick was actually suspended in air the fit was that tight and out steward had a habit of unplugging it to clean.

That said, I don't know if the electrical closet was supposed to be accessible (it was not locked so I used it).

Without those outlets I would have needed at least 12 feet to cross the room from the desk.

  4. I'll be on the PoA next week and based on all I've read I'm expecting decent service, decent food (we got the UDP as a fail safe to reports of a mediocre MDR) and decent entertainment.

The star of the cruise is really Hawaii itself. As long as they get us from island to island with minimal fuss, we'll be happy!
