  1. This is good for us.  We were hoping to see feedback from the Navigator Mexico sailings out of Los Angeles before final, which would have been December 16 for March 18th sailing.  Little to no chance of our cancelling, but this gives us time to be sure.  We haven't received an email, but there's still time.  Have the emails gone straight to you even if you're booked with a travel agent?

Excellent post! DH and I do not care about the ports on our 11/19 Mexican cruise. Just want to be on the ocean and pampered!

We're the same.  On our Mexico cruise in March things may have changed, but if they haven't, we're okay with just staying on the ship.  We've been to the ports many times in the past.  Just looking forward to driving to the cruise port and being on a ship again.

NOT looking forward to driving to/from Los Angeles on a Friday!

  3. I've had bigtime problems staying logged in on both Mac laptops using Safari, but no problems on the desktop PC using Firefox.  It either won't allow me to log in, or after I do and access a thread, it wants me to do it again.  Will try the incognito on the Macs, but I don't think we should have to do the extra step.  While I'm on a rant, why can't they move the logout button further away from the Boards button.  I can't tell you how many times I've logged myself out (prior to this latest round of problems) without meaning to.  If it were moved to the right about an inch or so, it wouldn't be so easy to log myself out trying to access the Boards.

  4. We are sailing on Quantum on August 29, which may be somewhat the same as to prices.  As of today, Monday 9/6, the prices are:

    UDP $196.00 per person

Deluxe Beverage Package $50.00 per person per day

Voom Surf 2 devices $21.99 adult per day

Voom Surf & Stream 2 devices $28.49 adult per day

As you know, these prices can and probably will vary widely as time goes on.  And keep in mind that there is (supposedly) a sale going on this holiday weekend.

Yeah - I'm eying my ever-expanding ignore list😁.  Seriously, Ken, I appreciate all  your efforts to keep us up-to-date on the latest changes.  If affects so many of us, and for those of us not affected, we can sympathize for them.  Thanks for your updates and consider the source for the snark.

  6. Just checked our March 18, 2022 7-nighter on Navigator, and got the "Oops" message.  I've been on Ovation and on Voyager class ships.  For this particular itinerary, I'd rather be on Navigator than Ovation.  We're in a JS on deck 9 on the hump, and I'm not sure where we'd end up on Ovation.  Maybe this is just Royal's weekend site maintenance.  Although, they probably will have to figure out something to do with Ovation if Australia is closed.

Yes I agree but I don't see this happening (IMO) until 2022. We hopefully will cruise this November. If I have to wear a mask great if not great. Anything to get on a ship.

We are also booked for November, but wearing a mask is the one thing I would cancel over.  I don't mind wearing it here when I go out for shopping or even for a walk, and I could live with reduced capacity and social distancing, even some venues not being available, but I won't wear a mask on a cruise vacation.  If it's required, we'll cancel.  And we will have to know by August 6, or we will cancel anyway and not take a chance.

  8. We just got one for our 11/7/21 cruise on Oasis.  I tried to be as transparent as I could regarding what we were willing to accept on the cruise - no problem with COVID test at terminal, social distancing, reduced capacity, but not mask wearing onboard.

I did notice that they approached the vaccination question from several different angles, and on several pages.  We have been vaccinated, so I did mention that and listed it as a priority for us to take the cruise.

Happy 75th Pat.  My husband turned 75 in November.  We were lucky enough to, at least, go out for dinner with the kids and grandkids.  We had to sit four to a table but we were inside.  Now we are not allowed indoor dining.  Anyway, point is, have a great day no matter what you do.

Thanks, Dani.  Unfortunately, we aren't even allowed outdoor dining here at the present time.  Our ICU beds are almost at capacity, and ICU staffing is down.  I really, really don't want to catch this with the vaccines on the horizon.  So, I'll just wait it out.  But, I already have my eye on Paris in the fall😁.

I’m sorry to read this but you know your “family” here will be sending you the best wishes tomorrow.  Make the best day possible tomorrow and celebrate it right next year.

Let me be the first to wish you an early Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday Pat.

Yeah, no getting around it, celebrations are different this year.  Order a special meal for delivery and still mark the day.  Then next year double the number of days in Paris.  Maybe, it would help to spend some time tomorrow booking your trip for next year.  Wish we could do more for you, and remember were all right here with you.

    Graham.

Thank you all for your lovely thoughts.  I don't normally even celebrate birthdays, but this one would have been special.  We WILL do something, just not sure when.  But again, thanks for the uplift.

  11. Tomorrow is my 75th birthday.  Normally, we would make a pretty big deal about it, even though it's 8 days before Christmas.  We might have taken a Mexican Riviera cruise out of San Diego, where we live.  We might have even taken a flying land visit to Paris for 3 or 4 nights.  We might have gone to Las Vegas for a couple of nights, stayed at a big hotel, had a nice dinner, and taken in a show.  We might have done the above at a local Indian casino.  We might have at least gone out to a local restaurant for a nice dinner.  But, no........

Neither would I - not everyone who wants to be vaccinated will be by April/May and I don't think Canada is going to be ready by then to open up Vancouver or Victoria.

Mid-late summer cruises might happen, but at this point it really depends on a lot of unknowns.

All of this begs the question "at what point, even if Canada opened up, is it no longer financially feasible for Royal to send the ships to Alaska?"  I can't see them sending three ships, or even one or two, if the season will be only a few weeks long.

  13. We have an August Alaska booked, simply because at our ages we can't plan to wait a year or two or five.  We'll take the cruise if we've been vaccinated and are healthy.  But if it's canceled, that's it for us.  We've had a wonderful time cruising, but as my husband says, "We've run out of runway."
