    I have done a lot of the places the ship goes to in the Med but haven't been beyond Egypt...so Suez Canal and further east would be great! Would like to book additional time in China to see more sights but not sure I would want to do that alone.

     

    Not bee to the Med, most of our holidays have been the States side, so are looking forward to this, We are opting for a 3 day stay in China at the end to explore a bit more.

    Highly Recommend Alimiza Tours - Colon, Panama

    While on a recent cruise through the western carribean we booked a private tour with Alimiza. We chose their Tour Pkg CL1: Rainforest+Monkeys+Colonial Park+Gatun Locks ($65/person). This is a tremendous value for such a wonderful tour and exceeded all our expectations. Colon itself is not a safe place you would want to explore, but getting outside this port city was well worth it. The stop at the Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal was very interesting. It is a different experience that cruising through canal as you can observe the entire operation of the canal as the ships go through. We were fascinated with the whole operation. Colonial Fort was a beautiful and peaceful site which we thoroughly enjoyed. You drive through the rainforest (which was fine with us) rather than hike, but they make many stops to observe the wildlife and plants. Our guide was very friendly and accommodating, I highly recommend this tour.

    We just came back from our first ever cruise with Celebrity Eclipse, it was a 50th birthday cruise so had high expectations, this with the excitement of our first ever cruise.

     

    We LOVED it !!!! despite bar service being slow at times at the Martini Bar, (guess what it gets busy, with over 2,000 people on board), did it spoil our fun...NO WAY!! after all we are fortunate to be be able to afford to be there, if you have the right attitude then a few more minutes for your drink or waiter makes no difference. We actually saw a woman fly in to a rage over the wrong type of glass brought to her to drink her beer out of !!!!! in the ocean view she was rude and obnoxious and the waiter still smiled and brought her a different glass and she still did not day thank you, and you can bet she told the whole world about how it ruined her cruise.

     

    Everyone's expectations are different and that is something you can not foresee. When i get asked how our cruise was I say it was fabulous because we had fun and met a lot of lovely people and made loads of new friends and had a blast for 2 weeks, thats what its all about ....for us anyways and we are doing it all again in 2015.

    Having just returned from a recent cruise with our freinds to Heathrow from Miami they found there suitcases had been raided.! Goods were stolen from them.! Gifts for the family as well as some of thier own goods.

    The items had been removed from boxes and boxes, ribbon left behind.!

    The only people who could have stolen these items was at either Miami airport Luggage Lockers...Miami airport...or Heathrow, Which seems unlikely as the cases came through no later than anyone elses.

    Please do not leave anything of value in your luggage as the insurance company do not pay out for any of the items stolen as they say ' The cases where left in an unsecure place.'

    I know that was tragic, I was shocked when they told me. I am sure that the bags were raided in Miami and not heathrow, as they have no time at the LHR and the bags are screed at Maimi so they can see whats inside, makes it so easy for them to spot "hot" bags as it were. Its such a shame that the insurance companies take no responsibility as the bags are handed to "Security" after check in at the airport. I for one will now take advantange of the bag wrapping service that is avail at Miami.

    Thanks for the reply.

    As long as I have the hotel info, which at present I can not retrieve from the Celebrity web site (Can't get into pre/post cruise planner. Problems with web site). I will get this from TA.

    I can make my own way to hotel by taking a taxi as suggested by welshfamily.

    Seems like it is very much hit and miss with regards to the rep, but will not allow this to be a big problem.

    When we cruised with Royal Caribbean from New York we never found a rep at the airport. We went straight to courtesy bus area and took bus to hotel.

    Thank you all for your help it has been a great.

    I will register for meet and mingle at the weekend hope to speakk with Triock on that forum.

    observed dress code

    Everyone on the cruise has paid a lot for their holiday. The cruise line makes it very clear what their dress codes are and provides alternatives for people who don't ever want to dress up. People who consciously choose to go on a cruise line with dress codes should be considerate of the people who booked a cruise expecting a certain ambiance. You can certainly dress as you like for your cruise by choosing the appropriate venue to dine.

     

    And that is exactly what i am saying as long as ppl dress according to the venue I see nothing wrong, from what I have read on the numerous posts on this site, certain cruise lines are taking a more tolerant stand when it comes to dress code as long as ppl turn up smart and not as if dressed for the beach and if the cruise line is taking that stand then you can not blame ppl for then not dressing up the nines.

    I have been on a few cruise but never booked for meet and mingle. perhaps I should.

    We are also on the same cruise as you and on the roll call, if you havent already done so drop by on there and say hello, there are lots of tours ideas etc at the various ports to give you some options if you need them.

     

    We have transfers booked to our hotel booked through our travel agent so will have a rep from the car company picking us up as I suspect you will if you have transport arranged, and if your hotel if also booked and confirmed then there is no reason for your hotel to change either.

     

    Which airline are you on and when do you fly out.
