I loved your photo review of Key West! I have been several times,the most recent being the first week of October. We were supposed to go to to Half Moon Cay and Nassau,but Hurricane Matthew had other ideas.So we got 12 hours in Key West one day and 8 the next,since the backup plan of Freeport also got eliminated

I loved Key West so much and want to take my mom soon . Your pictures were awesome and made me feel like I was back there seeing it all again. :)

Thank you so much for this awesome video!! I was on her the week of Matthew and had a wonderful cruise,with an extra day tacked on due to the port being closed. I loved this little ship so much and it was so wonderful seeing her all over again in your video. Since we didnt do the orginal planned itenerary I am so very tempted to go and book another cruise on her LOL

I was on the October 3 sailing of Elation.and we all know what was out there that week lol. Initially my cruise was Half moon Cay and Nassau. the night before the cruise it got switched to Key West and Freeport. then Freeport got cancelled and replaced with a second day in Key West. so thats a possibilty,depending on the path of the hurricane

Not to be to dramatic, but I urge those travelling to the Caribbean on any of the boats to rethink your decisions. My brother Bill was being me this will be the deadliest hurricane since Katrina. It is so big and destructive, they are looking at catagorying it at a Cat 6. Would be a first. Please, if you decide to go against my advice, make sure you have your life vests with you at all times!

You do realize dont you that Carnival is not going to sail right into a hurricane.Also its kind of late to "rethink your decisions" since the cruises are paid for and Carnival does not give refunds if we cancel.Please post a link to something showing where they are looking at making it a Cat 6 hurricane.

As one who collects magnets from Carnival ships and at ports of call, I find the poster's request reasonable. It is a shame you seem so petty as not to understand the desire to replace those that were broken.

I agree. I collect them as well. In fact I need to find the ones I dont have- the Imagination and the Pride for my collection. On the other hand I did keep my S&S cards for all my cruises and made them into magnets for my fridge

walking the upper decks at night when far out to sea,feeling the breeze blowing over me,loving the peace and quiet,or laying out on Serenity late after everyone has left and watching the lights of the port we have left receding in the distance,falling asleep briefly on a lounge chair on Serenity late at night when nobody is there.:)

chair hogging, breaking into the buffet line, heavy perfume, farting in an elevator, and so many more things supersede the needs and comfort of others. why do you need to harp on just one thing that most smokers and vapers don't do to begin with.....smoking outside of authorized areas. :confused:

 

 

You are correct. Most do not. Some do. i have seen people ask why they cant vape outside of the designated smoking areas. I agree with you on the chair hogging,cutting line,farting in elevators,and drowning in perfume. I dont however agree that nobody should ever wear it at all. Sorry but if you are that sensitive to scented products,then be proactive and bring the appropriate medications to treat it .

 

you see someone smoking outside of an authorized area, you have a right to complain. if you don't, then give it a rest. remember, there are a lot of other people doing other things that affect someone else's cruise enjoyment other than smoke.

 

As stated above I agree there are. Keep your vape in the correct areas ,and I will use the bare minimum of perfume and not stand up close to you

 

 

 

btw, that little dab you use could cause someone else an allergic reaction. maybe you should think about that the next time you put it on.

And maybe the person with the alergic reaction should not make that my problem. they need to take responsibilty for their condition and not stand righ next to someone with perfume on. bring your damn alergy meds and take them as you need to.

 

 

 

I would add the gratuities into the fare, but make it removable if there is a good reason, that can be verified.

I also would add them into the fare,but make them totally nonremovable,period. I dont know what could be a good reason to have them all removed totally. Im sure there are people out there who think" I spent too much on booze or lost it all in the casino and now im broke" is a good excuse to remove them. It isnt

I actually dont wear perfume on cruises,other than a light dab when I go to dinner in the MDR. Why is it some of you smokers and vapers seem to think your need for your nicotine is supposed to supercede the needs and comfort of all others. You have smoking and vaping areas. Use them. Hell Carnival can expand them and make them bigger and better . but no you should not get to vape those damn things all over the place

you are making assumptions. almost every vaping product can be purchased from 2.4mg of nicotine down to 0mg of nicotine. so someone who is vaping may not be inhaling nicotine either.

the point is,I dont want to have to breathe it in all over the ship,wherever people happen to feel like vaping.

I would never go there to say some one's opinion is stupid or whatever. It is their opinion. We are all entitled to our own opinions. Even if they are uninformed ones.

 

However, I have to add that often, an individual's disability is not visible to others, and why some one uses an elevator should not be up to the discretion of those who know nothing about the person using the elevator up one or two flights. Perhaps they just had knee or hip surgery, or perhaps they are due in the next few weeks for hip or knee surgery. Perhaps they have a heart issue. Judging others is just wrong. My next cruise coming up, I am dealing with some physical issues. Sometimes I will use my cane, and other times it will be folded up in my bag, but then I just might take the elevator up one or two floors. At times that I have good energy, I will always try the stairs first.

 

But I already know that people will judge me for taking the elevator up a floor or two. Just saying, to those who are quick to judge, try not to be so quick to judge. You are young today, and in 15 or 20 years, who knows what issues your body will deal with.

It comes off more like he wants to control others and want them to do what they thinks they should do rather than uninformed. Bottom line,I paid for my cruise the same as he did,Im there for my pleasure not his. And if I dont want to go down the stairs,which I do take them soemtimes if the elevators are running slow,then I wont.

I do have arthritis in one knee and at times it does start to hurt,but I guess you cant tell someone like the person who wrote it that.

I would like vaping to not be lumped in with smoking. I quit smoking cigarettes for a reason.

I quit smoking for a reason as well. one of them was because I was tired of breathing crap into my lungs. You quit smoking tobacco. You did not quit inhaling nicotine . I am glad it gets treated like smoking because otherwise vapers would be going around blowing that crap out wherever they wanted,and forcing others to have to breathe that vaper in against our wills.On the other hand I do feel it should be allowed in cabins or on balconies.

Here is one that is more an annoyance and really couldn't be implemented....if you are relatively physically healthy, you can't take an elevator going down for 3 decks or under....going up, it has to be more than 2 decks....STOP BEING LAZY AND USE THE STAIRS FOR SHORT TRIPS!!!!

this one is stupid and ridiculous! What business is it of yours if someone wants to use the elevator? And why is it an annoyance to you? Why dont you stop using them if it annoys you for others to do so except under situations that you think are ok? You didnt pay for anyone's cruise for them,therefore you dont get to dictate who deserves to use the elevators

I'm new to Cruise Critic but have been look at some of the reviews for the Elation. I'm taking my boys in October for my oldest son's 21st Birthday/College Graduation celebration. My other one is 15 so I decided to let him tag alone. There was no hesitation about tagging along with Mom this time around. LOL!!! This is the best review I have ever looked at. Thanks so much for sharing and I'm glad you and your friend had a great time. Looking forward to my trip more now. Maybe our paths will cross sometime and we can meet in person. :)

The "picnic" spread on HMC is included in the cruise fare. (Most?) Drinks, including soda, are not.

It is one of the things I was interested in about the Elation. lol. As well as the itenerary. I knew Cheers cant be used on HMC . What about food ? how much does it cost on HMC in general. Do those clamshells accomodate 3 people? I will be going back again with 2 othe people in December so we are interested in those. thanks

I have really been enjoying reading your review of your Glory cruise! My mom and my sister and i are booked for this cruise in December,and I cant wait to get to Half Moon Cay.

Your posts and pictures of it gave me a clear idea of what it will be like and Im excited!!

I have been to the other ports on this itenerary before on the Conquest but your review gave me some great ideas of differnt things to do this time around.

I cant wait to see how your visit to Grand Turk was. It is the port i have been most looking forward to returning to.

Im happy that you are out living life and enjoying it after your marriage ending. Been there done that,and am happier than I was the last several years we were together. I have been on 3 cruises since then ,with 2 more booked. Life is short,gotta get the most out of it
