Booking on explorer of the seas for Feb. 2021 and thinking of booking a balcony cabin on deck 11 forward (new cabins added in amplification). Can anyone tell me if the very forward facing balcony cabins have an obstructions? I see there is a "peekaboo" area in the before deck plans.... not sure if this will affect the view for the new cabins added there. Other choice would be deck 11 forward on the port side... opinions on which would be better?
Thanks

In portland there are plenty of places to go right around the port as well as plenty of taxis/Ubers you can use to get around. Frankly if you like beer Portland is a mecca and there are a ton of places nearby you can go, sit, and sample the local wares.
Are there Breweries within walking distance of the cruise ship dock? If so do you know names? thanks

Going on Anthem OTS and will be stopping in St. John Oct. 3 2019. We are looking to rent a car at the port and drive through St. Martins and to Fundy trail parkway. Is there a rental car company at the port? Any advice on the Parkway? Thanks in advance.

We have purchased the soda package for our upcoming cruise on Freedom. Can anyone tell me where the locations of the Coke machines to fill our cups are on Freedom? I know on Oasis there was not an abundance of them and some were slightly hidden (like the one in the arcade) so wanted to be prepared before our Freedom cruise to find the nearest location.
Thanks

Wow great info - thank you...can you tell me what site you found the walking tour info?

I just checked my cruise planner for our Freedom cruise March 17, 2018 and they have MTD reservations open but I couldn't get any times between 5;45 and 7:30.....we would like to dine at 6:30. Could this time be full already being so far out???? Should I call RCL to try and reserve or get on a wait list?

We were on Oasis last week as well.... I did not think that Jimmy or Marvin did that great of a job in directing the entertainment.... We went to several shows and ended up skipping Quest at the end of the week because some of the other shows were so lame...(love and marriage, battle of the sexes...etc). I enjoyed the cruise director on our last Oasis trip in Dec 2015 much better. (Think it was Drew??)

I redeemed my Visa points for OBC about 3 weeks ago (sailing April 16) and the OBC showed up in my cruise planner about 5 days after redemption.

How much does the tram ride cost to go to Paradise Point? Both one way and round trip ticket.

We docked in Crown Bay in March, and needed to get to Havensight. We caught a taxi to downtown, and were transferred to a second taxi to Havensight. We only paid the 2nd taxi driver. The first driver assured us that was the way to do it
On the return trip, we caught a taxi in Havensight, and returned all the way to Crown Bay. No problems. Unfortunately, the only ship in St Thomas was us at Crown Bay. So most of Havensight was closed. We were meeting friends at the Dockside Bar, so we were OK. I did have some shopping I wanted to do while there. Saved some bucks since they were closed.
This is good info and new to me.... When we are in St. Thomas in 2 weeks on Oasis docked at Crown Bay, we are the only ship at St. Thomas that day. I had planned to stop and do some shopping in Havensight. Never occurred to me that nothing would be open because no ships were docked there.....

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. We have the exact same cabins on Freedom next March! My husband and I are taking my parents on their first cruise! Can you tell me, can the balcony divider be removed between these two rooms... we would love to create a bigger balcony for us all to share.
Thanks

I have heard that there is an Amazing Race type adventure/scavenger hunt on St. Maarten - that might be fun for the whole fam. I don't know if this is offered through the cruise ship or privately but maybe someone here can help with those details....

You can also go to guest services at the end of cruise and get cash for any remaining OBC left. I just cashed in $900 of OBC from Visa points for our cruise in 2 weeks. It showed up in my cruise planner within a couple days.

We are booked with teens across the hall... I called RCI to make the reservation - didn't do it on-line.

But never, and I mean never have I heard a normal English speaking Canadian say a-boot.
I think this is more of a trait of the neighbors to your south who reside in Minnesota and N. Dakota...
BTW I am from Michigan and we say "pop" as well!

Hi, jmaedcruise! I'm new to Cruise Critic. How do you check the port schedule? I'd like to see if anyone else will be in port the same day as us.
Thanks!
I have had good luck with the website cruisetimetables dot com.. under ports of call

Does anyone know if you can use the lunch "certificate" at another restaurant.... like Sabor or Johnny Rockets??

Magic Ice is an ice bar, not sure you would want to take 3 kids there, but if you read reviews on trip advisor you can see photo's. It looks cool.
The LAST thing I want to do on my Carribean vacation is see ice and snow! I get enough of that with Michigan winters.... I am trying to escape that! Aahaha

Coki was beautiful. But I'd rather go somewhere else next time. It was really crowded, the bathrooms were disgusting, the food and drinks were crazy expensive and not that great. We paid for two chairs but people kept coming up and asking if we had paid and tried to make us pay again. So that made us feel uncomfortable. We kept having to trade off with who could swim and who could stay with our stuff because we didn't feel comfortable enough leaving it even though were close enough to watch it.
Do you happen to know how many ships were in port the day you were there? We are debating between Coki and Saphire.... I think the teens would like Coki better but I would probably like Saphire for the less crowded aspect.... However I checked the port schedule and our ship is the only one there that day....it is Oasis so that is lot of people anyway but I was thinking Coki might be a little less crowded because we are the only ship there.

I'm looking forward to your review as we may be on FOS exactly a year from now. I'm curious about the number of kids on board due to spring break and what that means for pools, wait times, etc.
We will be on Freedom in exactly one year as well.... sailing 3/17/18.... Good question too - we are taking my retired parents on their first ever cruise and I am wondering if there will be a lot of kids as well.
-
We have sailed Oasis Western route and will sail Eastern route on Oasis next month... We love Oasis but we have booked a cruise on Freedom for 2018 to see some different ports. Have heard many positive things about FOS so we are looking forward to experiencing it!

Is this typical March weather?? I just booked an 8 night Eastern Carribean cruise on Freedom for March 17 next year with my parents. It will be their first cruise and my mom has motion sickness issues.... I was hoping for calm seas that time of year!! How is Freedom with the rough seas? I have been on Oasis and barely noticed any movement.
