  1. I'm excited to hear about that St George's beach bus! We're going to Tobacco on our first day. I had planned to walk from the ferry. I don't mind walking at all, but was a little concerned about getting lost. Now with this bus, I can still see everything. Have a great trip! I'm leaving Saturday the 16th, and I'm crazy excited.

Please let us know how it goes, especially with the St. George's bus. Have a lovely time on your cruise and in Bermuda!:)

  2. You will find that food is all very pricey in Bermuda. Definitely no bargains.

On our last trip, DBF & I had lunch in a little place in St. Georges, nothing special at all, just a local place. $75 for 2 burgers & 2 beers! I love Bermuda, but DANG, it can be expensive!

  3. I ordered one back in March and realized I never got a receipt/email confirming the purchase. The charge does appear on my credit card bill, of course! I just hope it shows up when we sail in 9 days.

This was my first purchase from the online fun shops. Can I expect it to be waiting in my cabin or will it be delivered later in the cruise?

  4. You should have no trouble getting to the port from the Greyhoind station. Both are located well away from the bulk of the recent protest activity, and both are adjacent to I-95, making the port just a quick taxi ride from the bus terminal, via the tunnel.

We're also on the Pride on May 17. Just two more weeks! I can't wait!

  5. I agree about your day 3 plan - you could do something more interesting than the snorkel park that day since you leave so late in the day. That being said, I love touring historical sites and the Commissioners' house and maritime museum are very interesting and right at the dockyard. You may be running yourself a bit ragged on Day one so heading to Hamilton again might be a good alternative to the snorkel park on that last day.

Thanks for the info about the bus service in St. George's! Our first cruise to Bermuda we walked to Tobacco Bay and then back to the port via St. Catherine's Fort/Beach. That was one long walk so I am very glad to see there's a private bus service circulating among the sites. I've a bit mobility challenged these days so that bus service is going to be a life saver as far as I'm concerned!

  6. Any new updates in April for this beach? We found this beach 2 cruises ago and it is the only one we walk to now when in GT. We are going on Pride May 3rd and it would be nice if the beach had chair rentals again. Lovely, quiet area:)

If you go to Governor's Beach on your May 3 cruise, please let us know what you find when you return. I leave on the Pride 2 weeks after you and am very interested! Thanks!

  7. We just got back on Feb 16. I cant tell you about the beach being closed in March, but I can tell you there were no facilities to use. It's not like it use to be. We spent a few hours on the beach searching for seaglass. There were only 4 other couples on the beach, besides us. We took our own water and a bottle of wine, was a great day. Stopped at Jack's Shack on the way back to the ship. Have fun!

Was your sea glass search sucessful? Sea glass lovers want to know! TIA :)

  8. Just back from Grand Cayman and found some sea glass (not a ton but enough to make me smile) at Cemetary Beach. The beach itself is beautiful and not crowded but also without access to food, drink or bathrooms.

  9. Was in Grand Cayman last week and went to Cemetary Beach specifically looking for sea glass. Found some, not a ton, but enough to make the search worthwhile as part of a couple of hours spent at the beach. The beach itself was beautiful, easy to get to, not crowded but with enough people that you feel comfortable being there. We took a taxi there (about 6 per person one way) and then took the public bus back to the pier ($2.50 per person). The bus stop is right across the road from the public access path to the beach. We waited approximately 30 seconds for a bus to arrive!

  10. I get the point, however, as a first time cruiser the double edged sword is very beneficial for me. When you have never cruised and all you hear is how this line or that line poos ice creams and rainbows and then get on the trip to find things aren't what you "expected" because no one bothered to give you the dirty details, then I would feel betrayed, lied to and frankly might not even give it a chance. This is great reality checking for people like me who are naive.

I agree that it's important to consider both positive and negative reviews. Prior to my first cruise, a friend simply gushed about her cruise, convincing me that I would just LOVE a cruise. Needless to say, my expectations were too high and I was disappointed. I only tried a second cruise because I was excited to visit Mayan ruins and figured a cruise was the only way I'd see them since my DBF hates to fly. Cruise number two was, as you can see below, the BEST CRUISE EVER! Now cruising is my go-to vacation.

I appreciate the bad reviews as well as the good; I'm not a big coffee drinker, so the fact that some people hate the coffee is no big deal. In fact, because I am picky about my coffee, knowing that some people don't like it means I won't bother to try it. Now when the ice tea sucks, that's a different story. LOL. :) The point is, a thorough and honest review gives me the chance to weigh the relative importance TO ME of the aspects of the cruise that the reviewer liked or didn't care for.
