  1. Thank you. We do love this port! Well, we do have to pack our suitcases as we have to switch our room. We booked a balcony guarantee rate in May which was much less than the rate that allowed us to choose our stateroom. We saved enough to deal with the hassle of packing and switching. At least we get to stay on the ship this morning if we don’t want to get off. We did try a few phone calls to NCL to check into having the same room but it wasn’t possible based on our booking. My husband says he loves the time we have together, the cruising experience, the amazing crew, and the unique areas on the Spirit. His other favorite ships are the Jewel, Gem and Sun. One more week for you and Dad!
  2. Here is a really neat area in Spinnaker lounge. I haven’t seen this on other NCL ships. There are two of these elevated areas with one on each side. I’m guessing that people probably had these reserved early for Hubbard Glacier and they have usually been taken when we have come up to Spinnaker. It’s not foggy tonight. 😀 Just overcast.
  3. Thank you. It’s added to the new drink for tomorrow. I only have space/room to drink wine tonight. 🤪
  4. The number of guests on this asking is almost 1800 but was not given an exact number after asking two different guest services representative. Number of children under 18 years old is 209. 😳 I think that is more than I expected for a ship with limited kid related programming and no Splash Academy.
  5. New-to-me drink. Dark and stormy. It’s like the Moscow Mule but with rum instead of vodka. I would not order it again as there are other drinks I like more than this one.
  6. Thank you. Wow, that is warm. My son lives in that general area, too. The weather forecast looks good for us when we are in Ketchikan, possibly the last sea day and when we arrive in Vancouver. We will be happy with overcast skies, too.
  7. The skies are mostly overcast but it’s not foggy and we see occasional patches of blue skies. When the sun has a chance to be out like it was when we were in Sitka, it feels really warm. It was pleasant enough outside about 9am to walk around the promenade deck along with several others who were out walking or playing shuffleboard. We joined a packed atrium for Tri-bond trivia followed by general trivia. We trailed the winners by a few questions for each game. They did bring out the folding chairs to accommodate more people. Next, we went to the fitness center for more workout time. It wasn’t too crowded but usually isn’t after the first sea day. It was after 11 and time for the hot tub before too many people got that idea. It was not too cold getting out of the hot tub as it was a few days ago. We saw they were setting up a buffet near the pool for grilled food for lunch. The grilled salmon was exceptionally good along with the grilled vegetables. They had burgers, hot dogs, roasted chicken, salads, and seafood chowder soup. The tables near the pool seem mostly full and there are people and quite a few kids in the hot tubs. The main pool is closed for some reason. I do feel really bad for people who missed the Hubbard Glacier viewing today. If this were my first Alaskan cruise with a Mendenhall glacier excursion in Juneau and the train ride in Skagway plus the whale watching excursion we took in ISP, I’m not sure that I would be too excited to return. The glacier viewing and scenic viewing between ports are what makes Alaska cruising enjoyable for me and my husband. We are still having a wonderful time and know the weather is so variable. We have heard there are many travelers who will be getting on the 6am ish train from Seward to the Anchorage airport in the morning.
  8. I think you mean 6pm tomorrow? How is the train ride so far? Feel free to add your experiences to this review as I love hearing about other experiences especially when on the same cruise.
  9. I’m really disappointed, too. I wish they had a way for us to go later today. Here are the times the ships were slotted. With it being a light day, I wish they could arrange for us to go after Regatta. Here are the times on Thursday which may be more likely for the time of day. I know at 6am, I could not see past the balcony and could not even see the ocean as the fog was so thick.
  10. You are very welcome! Do you need me to post a photo of the officers or maybe you are up-to-date with your connection to Hasan? I’ll tell him you say hi when we go to the next Latitude or military reception on the next half of this cruise.
  11. If there is availability for a boat tour with Major Marine or Kenai Fjords, I recommend this option as you will stay dry on the boat if it is raining. The SeaLife Center is nice and will take about an hour or so.
  12. In Henry’s Pub, the bartender we met is Froilan. He is very outgoing, friendly and he makes some great drinks.
  13. Is it a Major Marine tour? If so, the tour we took with them last June was fantastic and we did see a lot of wildlife including whales in different locations. I hope you have a great tour. Yes, we see the weather looks to be overcast and rainy until Ketchikan.
  14. An announcement was made a few minutes before 7am. I only caught the end of it and heard something about people with an excursion will get a full refund, enjoy your day at sea and I apologize. Did you hear the announcement @quack2? It was very foggy outside at 6am. Again, it is the foggiest Alaskan cruise we have experienced. But now in our current position, we can see patches of blue skies and the visibility now is much better than it was at 6am We hope we can see Hubbard Glacier on Thursday for the second cruise as it sounds like it is canceled due to the foggy conditions.
  15. The new-to-me drink tonight was one suggested by Made in Magnum’s. Moscow Mule. I would order it again.
  16. Thank you for all the great suggestions and all you are contributing to this thread. I’m excited to “stay” on the ship with you for your review. 😀
  17. We had a reservation at Cagney’s at 5:30pm. We tend to eat earlier than we eat at home to spend time and take advantage of all of the entertainment options. There were about 10 people ahead of us in line. They were all being turned away or were encouraged to come back at 8pm. For some reason, they seated us at.a 5 top table instead of a 2 top. It was near the window so we definitely didn’t complain. . I ordered the shrimp appetizer and Caesar salad. My husband also got the shrimp but he didn’t want soup or salad so he ordered a second appetizer with it being the Oysters Rockefeller. For the entrees, I ordered a filet which my husband and I shared and he got the grilled fisherman’s platter and we shared some of that, too. We got onion rings, broccoli, spinach and mushrooms for side dishes. For dessert, we saved room to get the 7 layer cake for my husband and the hot blueberry oatmeal cobbler with vanilla ice cream for me. We were happy with all of the food and the service. This afternoon we made all of our 6 dinner reservations (2 FAS, 2 FAS+, and 2 for Latitudes) for the second half of the cruise.
  18. When we were there in August 2019, I think they had demos of glass blowing but I can’t remember if they let anyone try it. And sorry if I’m being insensitive laughing at your burns but I know I laughed at myself when I burned my eyebrows when attempting to BBQ food when I was a young adult and still laugh about it.
  19. We are staying in Magnum’s as this is where B12 will be playing two sets. We wish they were in Spinnaker as it is a better venue to watch Alaska scenery even if it is foggy. We have a scenic spot in Magnum’s which is above the atrium. We are very well taken care of by Jane, Cherryl and Made. We did not see Jackson. Maybe we will on the second half. Thank you for the recommendation. I bet you and Dad are getting really excited to cruise in about a week?!?
