  2. Ncl getaway was amazing for my kids, I was originally going on Disney, but was traveling without my husband, and Disney would not allow 2 cabins with one adult, so switched to Ncl. It was less expensive with 2 balconies than one cabin for 4 on Disney, and I can't say enough good things. Very family oriented, tons of kid activities, classes, shows, movies etc. ropes course, pool, ping pong, movies, kid versions of dueling piano show, legally blonde shiw, cake decorating, arcade, kids clubs, ice bar, game shows, etc etc food was good too

  3. The other reason, I am not doing a Disney Cruise, and will most likely never do one, is their rules for the rooms. My husband does not like to cruise, so it's me and the 3 kids, and on Disney, unlike other lines, they will NOT allow me to book 2 rooms with one adult. I can still get 2 balconies on CCL, NCL,or RCI for much less than one stateroom on DCL. We like the extra room, 2 bathrooms, 2 tvs, etc.

I had originally been looking at a Disney cruise and after pricing out 2 balconies on other lines and realizing DCL wouldn't allow it anyway, it was an easy decision. We like the 2 cabins for 4 people, and now that we have done it that way, I don't see us going back

  4. Lighthouse pointe suites in Freeport is a beautiful hotel, untouched by the hurricane and has a great spa. We just spent 4 days there over Thanksgiving, the food, beach, amenities, etc was great

  5. My kids didn't like camp either and did not go. Also, I am concerned that your friend is going out of the country and on a cruise with 2 small kids and a debilitating brain issue. I am worried that you and your daughters may be reluctant to step in, it sounds like she may really need the help and support, even if you originally wanted to relax

  6. Not sure if you would like this, or if they would do it, but it is their mistake. Would you consider adjoining balconies for you and the kids? I sailed with my 3 (husband did not go) and we had adjoining balconies, and thought it was great. 2 tvs, 2 bathrooms, closed door if someone wanted to nap, more room, etc. and it was less than all of us in a haven room You don't get the perks, so don't know how much that matters to you, but I couldn't do more than 2 in a room, so this worked out for us

And yes, on most cruise lines (all except Disney according to my research), minors can be booked in their own cabin. On NCL they need to be within 3 doors or directly across the hall, there is no restriction on balcony. This is the same on RCI and Princess, on Carnival, they can be in their own room, but to have them in a balcony with no adult registered, they have to be 13. This is how I ended up on the Getaway. My kids, were 13, 11, and 8, and I wanted 2 balconies
