  1. It's "clientele" and I agree with the above about what is a major incident. If what happened to you hAppened to me, I might have been annoyed but would not complain or blame an entire cruise line. But clearly, karaoke is super important to you, you should get a free cruise and that person should be fired

  2. Yes, I would have been uncomfortable if it was made a big deal throughout the ship, as we were not there for Easter. The egg hunt was an optional activity, like the others on the ship (i.e. bingo, etc., although I believe the egg hunt was free). How is Christmas celebrated? That would be another time for us to cruise, we don't celebrate that either, so I would be curious to know what is done. I heard several families had their own Easter celebrations, and had one friend who declined to cruise at Easter because it was important for them to be in church on that holiday

  3. We were on the Getaway for Easter 2014, it was a sea day. I didn't notice anything special, I think there was an Easter egg hunt for the kids. However, we don't celebrate so I wasn't looking for anything, so I may not be the best person to ask, :) There was plenty to do on the ship, I don't believe there were any religious services. I will see if I still have the dailies.

  4. I can't speak to getting a deal but regarding connecting cabins, if you are only traveling with one adult, Disney is a no go.

I sailed on the Getaway with NCL last year, because of this issue. I was traveling alone with my 3 kids (husband was working over their break), and started looking into Disney. However, they, unlike other cruise lines, do not allow minors booked in their own room (even if connecting cabins or close by). I realize you may be traveling with more than one adult, so this may not be an issue for you, but I thought I would mention my experience.

I ended up on NCL because of the ship and because they allowed adjoining balconies, even though my kids were 13, 10, and 8 at the time.

Regarding deals, I would also recommend booking early or guarantee, I have heard Disney once did a kids sail free promotion, but that was apparently, awhile ago!

I feel your pain! I keep checking back also. As of now, I am going on the Dream on a 5 day with my 2 younger kids later this month, but I could get 2 cabins on a 7 day for less on another line! :) But we want to try the Disney experience.

  5. Just because it's not explicitly banned, doesn't mean you should do it. Obviously from your responses, you are going to go ahead and use a speaker on your balcony, just don't be surprised if you have multiple complaints throughout the cruise. Not that you are going to care one way or the other

  6. I am sorry, I lost money ($100) for each of 2 cabins, but I am curious why you would not have checked with their doctor before booking? I recently had some eye issues and was prohibited from flying and did not book until cleared by my dr

  7. Regarding the zipline and walk the plank, it is a wind issue. It is possible for it to fluctuate from open to close several times a day. The zip line is more affected than the plank. However, on our GA cruise last year, both were closed several times, my kids did end up getting to do both, but only because we were lucky enough to be there at the right time. Plenty of other times they tried and it was closed, it is a safety issue. And I would guess that sea days are more likely to be closed due to the wind. However, if you are around and check back at other times on the same day, it may be opened

  8. I promise you, not doing the online check in was no big deal, we had zero issues; even not having luggage tags, etc. The porters helped us out, the check in NCL people had no issue, I can't imagine it being any different if we had done online check in. I was still able to book things, etc. beforehand

  9. Makeda, it is following the rules, kids are allowed in separate staterooms, with some provisions, can only be OV or below (on carnival) if 12 or under, must be next door or directly across the hall if under a certain age, etc. why do you say it's not following the rules?

  10. I hope it's not going to include the buffet. I took a cruise with my 3 kids and on excursion mornings, I would go up to the buffet, load up a tray and bring it back. It was easier than getting everyone up there, in the crowds, etc. by a certain, early time. I didn't think twice about it, we often do it at the hotels where breakfast buffets are included, as well. I don't think we are slobs, just trying to be efficient.

Also, one day my son did not feel great, so he stayed in the cabin and we brought light food to him as needed. I also didn't tell anyone he was sick! So I guess I am not such a rule follower, either.

We took one cruise last year on the GA, and loved it. I was hoping to go again on the Western route or on the Escape next year, but all these rules, not to mention the big jump in price, has me re-thinking.

  11. I have no idea what you are talking about, just because my kids were in the room next to mine, with the door open, etc. did not mean I did not know where they were. Two cabins is smaller than most hotel rooms, and my kids don't sneak out, etc. Strange comment

  12. Hi,

I did this on the GA last year. I sailed with my 3 kids (13, 10, and 8), my husband did not come on the cruise

I did not have to sign any form. They did fudge one of the kids ages for the computer, we could not do online check in because of this. It was no big deal, we checked in at the dock, even without luggage tags, docs, etc. Everything was fine. As far as I know, they changed the ages to the correct ones upon check in, we had no issues.

It's one of the reasons I cruise NCL, on CCL you can book multiple cabins, but kids under 13 or 14 cannot be in a balcony without an adult. And I liked the connecting rooms, it made it seem bigger and we had access to 2 TV's, 2 bathrooms, more room etc.

I would not worry about it, I think they do it all the time. I think it has to do with the computer program not allowing under a certain age in the cabin, but then it can be over ridden at check in
