Hmmm....   Other islands and I think even HMC have systems setup to use the S&S cards.   It is Carnival that is not using them for some reason?   Oh???  Yes !    $$$$$

Every one of Carnival Corporation's Cruise Lines has a different computer approach and they are not all the same S&S card approach.. They are separate companies within the parent company that were purchased at different times, and there is really no reason to spend the kind of money necessary to put them all on exactly the same system. Carnival Cruise Lines uses HMC when it is available and does not seem inclined to build an IT infrastructure there for the limited times they use the port.

I'm not that paranoid😎 I have used it all over the world.

But my point is that it comes nowhere near the scale that is required to safely operate all of the transactions that would be processed in the interactions between a Carnival Cruise ship and HMC while protecting the privacy and accuracy of those transactions.. The situation you keep touting is like a firecracker compared to a nuclear blast. But go ahead with your premise. People that understand large scale computing requirements will continue to laugh at your attempts to pretend that it represents any kind of realistic representation of what goes into solving the HMC computer issue.

You are completely missing the point. I never said my booster would work with Carnival. I use it at a hotel with poor wifi to boost my signal. You clearly did not read or understand my post. I also use it on my sailboat while at anchor, nothing to do with Carnival. Point is Carnival can accept Cheers if they chose to.

Your statement: " they could set up a wireless server in an hour. I have a wireless booster that could easily reach the ship from the island, the booster was $20. This is not a technology issue. " It is a little simplistic to "assume" that because you have a $20 wifi booster on your boat Carnival should be able to hook up to HMC easily with very little cost. As in the past, your simplification of issues reflect your failure to understand the complexities of the issue. Your little wifi booster is wide open to being hacked and having your and your targets information stolen and used. Handling thousands of peoples' personal and financial information over a wireless connection is no "simple" task. You obviously do not understand that when you are hooked to the wifi of a hotel, you are not in a safe data transfer environment. You are on an open network that is imminently hackable. Do not belittle the possible implications of doing this by comparing it to you ordering a drink over a $20 wifi booster from your boat or boosting a hotel's signal. Not even close!

This is exactly what we do, 4 beers in a cooler.

I have no idea what you are talking about. We use it on our boat to pick up free wifi and some hotels where the wifi is weak.  I can pick up a signal from a restaurant or hotel ashore, we go in, buy a drink, and get the wifi password and bring it back to the boat.

Think about the number of individual transactions that would be processed per hour on HMC when a Carnival ship is there. Each transaction would have to get back to the ships system to check if this was a Cheers transaction and then send validation back to the terminal on the island and allow the transaction  to be completed and then send the completed transaction back to the ships S&S system  Having been in IT for 30+ years, I know that your $20 wifi widget wouldn't be able to handle  anything like the kind of volume that happens on HMC. By the fact that you stated that you had no idea what I was talking about clearly shows that you probably have no idea what you are talking about

I haven't actually booked one, but I have been looking at it.

The first thing I did was figured out what month I wanted to go and what port I wanted to sail from. Then i pulled up the calendar for that month/port and looked at the available cruises. I checked to see if they had 2 back to back with different itineraries (in my case, they did) so then I did a mock booking to see if i could get the same room on both sailings. Only thing left is to book.

Hope you have a great time!!

I have found that the process is faster and easier if you deal with a good PVP. They can tell you in minutes if the same cabin is available on both of the cruises, where they are all,  and can get it booked very quickly.  Our PVP,  who we have worked with for about 8 years, is the best and always makes our booking processes and ongoing processes fast and efficient.

So how many transactions are you doing per hour on your $20 portable wifi, and how many stations are on it doing those transactions?

HMC is owned by Holland America, not by Carnival. Carnival only uses it when its available. Holland America gets first dibs.

There's a simple reason Cheers isn't available. All orders are written down, not put in a computer, so there's no way to track usage on the island. They aren't put into the computer until everyone is back on the ship.

I believe that is because the computer system on Half Moon Cay is Holland America's computer System which is different from Carnival's computer system. They might bring some terminals/cash registers from the ship to put orders in and manage,  but they are operating stand alone and not communicating with the ship for Cheers information.  Just my assessment, but not worth arguing about.

Not that I'm sure it matters, but Carnival did drop the Cheers from any drink under $50 to any under $20

Yes, but when Cheers first started the top limit was $20. It changed to $50 a couple years ago and now it has gone back to $20.

Yes, this is an airline fee issue. There will be 2 teenagers as well as two adults. Each can have a carry-on and a personal item. Worst case scenario, we would have to check just one bag, but I hope that those 8 bags can suffice for 7 days!

Southwest does not charge for checked luggage. Another option is top pack one large suitcase with the things that overflow the carry on bags and check it. That way you only have one checked bag fee. I am sure that that fee will not prevent you from cruising.

  10. Our PVP has never called us just because she was notified we were on the site. If that were the case she would be calling us a couple of times a week. She quickly understood how we, as her customers, worked and operated. She is the best in the world and goes the extra mile for us everytime we call her. If you cannot get your PVP to understand who you are and how you work, them you need to get a different one.

I like Gray Goose. I have never had Kettle One or Belvedere, so I am unable to weigh in on those.

If you are going to do tequila then Patron is the way to go IMO.

Whatever you get, enjoy your cruise!

With drinking any Tequila make sure you order Reposado, Anejo, or Extra Anejo types of your chosen brand.. These are the oak aged varieties and are much better.

We are booked in rooms 6368 and 6370 on the Glory. These rooms are directly above Club O2 and by the midship elevators that are near the casino/casino bar. Has anyone stayed in these cabins that could advise if noise from O2 or smoke from the casino will be an issue? I'm wondering if I need to attempt to move to a different deck.

Very early in our cruising life, we determined that the best approach is to keep at least one floor of cabins above and below you when booking. This provides a buffer zone between your cabin and decks that can generate noise. On the Conquest class ships we always get cabins on Deck 7. Deck 5 and Deck 9 on these ships generate most of the hearable noises almost all day and late into the night. Buffer them if you can. Yes, Deck 7 is a little more cost than 6, but it is worth it.

Opening a can and pouring it into a cup? Really?

Pouring it into a cup that you gave them not knowing where it had been. It would be the same reason they do not mix your next drink in the used glass you carried back to the bar, or they want you to always take a new plate in the lido buffet, or why they put sneeze guards on buffets, or you should wash your hands after using the restroom, why you should not push the elevator buttons with your tongue, or lick the stairway railings.

Correct, if two or more shareholders are in the same cabin, only one receives the benefit.  Why?  I have just as many shares as my cabin mate.  Why can't we both be rewarded for our investment.  Yet another perk being taken away.

I realize this situation is different from the OP but I thought I'd share my experience as it was somewhat related.

If the second stockholder wants to get the OBC, they should get another cabin. It is not a perk being taken away. This has been the rule as long as I have owned Carnival stock

It may not be "straightforward," but you can print an itinerary with dates and an invoice that includes a billing summary after your online check in by selecting View/Print Docs from the online check in screen. Also, if you click on Booking and Order details from the my cruise screen, you can click on Edit Order for any of your orders for Fun shops, excursions, spa, etc. and will have an opportunity to print each of them out individually if you want. Screen shots below. Also, if you don't want to wait to print this information until you've checked in online, you can always go to the My Cruise screen and print the page that shows your itinerary using the print screen function from your web browser.

Check In can only be done 90 days before the cruise, and these documents are the same ones that existed on the old system just like the book excursion process, with one a couple exceptions. When you went to the Book Excursions process in old system, in each box for the port it told you if you had excursions booked for that day, doesn't do that anymore. Just says no excursions booked. When you would go to a specific excursion, if would tell you on the screen if you had booked that excursion and the day and time you had booked. Not anymore.  The only way to print your booking information before check in completion is to right click on a section and chose print. You will get every picture, every ad for you to buy additional, and no itinerary and no billing information. If you go to the billing screen and do the right click and print you get poorly laid out pages that overlaps parts, and cuts off parts. It looks like the release is pre-alpha and beta testing. Makes it difficult to track what you paid and if you can have that changed because the price may have gone down. AND, THE ITINERARY THAT PRINTS AFTER CHECK IN DOES NOT HAVE DATES ON IT, JUST  DAY AND TIMES.

Thanks so much for this. I tried everything [but this] and probably never would have thought of this. I wish they would leave things alone.

wait until you get into it more and find all the bugs and the things that have been taken out like the ability to print things and the addition of massive amounts of picture and advertising that has been added. The old straight forward process that gave you the ability to print something as simple as an itinerary with dates or a billing summary are gone. AND you cannot go back to the old more informative process once you get switched over.

  17. I found last night on the new software version, if you have booked excursion for a cruise they do not show up as booked excursions if you go back to the book excursions process. When the ports come across the top of the screen where you chose the port to book for,  all the ports show as "No Excursions Booked" even if you have excursions book for some of those ports. After you book another excursion, it does get booked, but it still does not show you that on this screen. You have to go back to the booking screen to see it. The fact that you have booked excursions will never show up on this screen even though it did it under the old version.

Yeah I don't have it on a statement yet since I bought it this month. I sent in the trade confirmation page and haven't heard back. Guess I'll try sending it again. I won't have a statement showing the shares until next month.

Should be able to print the current account info on line and cross out the account#, etc. Just as long as you name  and the share info in on it.

Interesting thing I noticed yesterday, for me anyway. I have two PC's (one desktop, one laptop), both have same OS and patch level, using the same browser and patch level but the laptop shows the new Cruise Manager and the desktop shows the old Cruise Manager. I've cleared site data on the browsers, no change. It's OK and in a way I'm glad I still get the old site view because (as you mention with the new site layout) you don't even get the option to view and print your cruise docs (we're paid in full but not within 90 days yet) but on the old layout, we can still see/print the docs.

I agree that this is a problem. Under the old approach you could chose the Itineraries, Billing, Guests, and /or Activities button on the first page. Once the page you chose appeared you could right click on it and and pick the print option. Everything on that page would show up in your printer process and you could print it. Now, you can only print AFTER you have completed your check in which is only available 90 days out. So it anything changes you cannot print the changed documents. I cannot tell if what will print is good because I do not have a future cruise within the 90 day window.

    Copied from Carnival :

    Checked Bag Size Restrictions.

carry-on bags are limited to 16 inches in height and 24 inches in width, with no length restriction. You are allowed two bags per person, and each bag may not exceed 50 pounds.

On our last cruise there were two ladies that carried on their luggage. The were right in front of us. Each had 2 suitcases, 28 to 29" spinners. They held up the entire boarding line every time they came to a turn in the ramp and every time they came to any kind of door. They had to take only one of the suitcases at a time around the corners or through the doors. Then they got into the atrium and they were unable to pull the two suitcases through the narrow line through the atrium over to the elevators. So they did the one at a time thing through the atrium to the elevators going about 5 feet at a time with each suitcase. The we got to the elevator and they tried to stuff all 4 suitcases on the same elevator which was already packed. Kept holding the door open until a couple people got pis...ed and got off the elevator to let them on and let it move. We did not see the fiasco of them getting off because we were waiting for an elevator to come back down for us. Some of the comments of the other people following this clown parade were priceless.

I was on the Ecstasy last week. I just asked for cheese instead of chicken in the MDR.

Interestingly, the next day my husband asked for huevos rancheros at the Blue Iguana (regular, he’s not a vegetarian) and it came without eggs. Huevos Rancheros Sin Huevos 😂

I have had Huevos Rancheros at least twice a week on every one of my cruises since the Blue Iguanas came into existence and have never had them without eggs. There is usually a tray sitting there that started with about 12 servings. They have the eggs on them. If someone served me one without eggs I would be sure to point that out, but it has never happened.
