  1. You're making assumptions about Europeans. Smoking is also dropping in most of Europe.  In some countries it's as low as 6% of the population.  And, as others have pointed out, it's already banned on ships sailing from the UK and Aus.
You are correct, partially. Smoking is dropping across Europe, but still above the U.S. populations. The UK is similar or just above the US, while countries such as Italy, France and Spain range between 18 & 25 percent. I make no assumptions. While smoking is dropping across Europe, it is much less stigmatized and more readily accepted in public venues.

It's only a matter of time.  Smokers in the US are down to 14% of the population and still dropping.

True, but with many of RCCL's ships sharing time in Europe and other regions where European's travel, I do not see any incentive for RCCL to change any given ship non smoking for part of the year and smoking for another portion of the year.

  3. The OP left out some needed detail. Is your group of 6 is on the same reservation? If so, Bob is correct.  You can make your request via email several weeks in advance. If the group of 6 is booked an different reservations, you will need all of the reservation numbers and call RCCL and ask to link the reservations for dining. After doing so the guests on other reservations will need to call and "confirm the invitation". If you used a TA, let them handle it.

  4. I posed this same question in another board. I prefer deck 6, because I love being close to the water while under way. Lifeboats are not an issue on Oasis. My concern was being to close to boardwalk, promenade,  traffic. When I posed this question on the other site, everyone with experience recommended deck 6.  That said I went with a Loft suite on deck 17

    😁

  5. I second Clarea, arrange for a private car for your transfer to the airport. It will cost between €110 to €190 for a privite car. Make sure that the company you hire has access into the port to meet you at the ship. Some do not have such access and you have to take a shuttle or walk out with your luggage to the outside of the port. We walked right off the ship, driver met us just outside of the building, 20 meters to the car. Perfect.

  6. I am leaving today from Ft Lauderdale aboard the adventure of the seas. We plan to board around 12:30. My favorite football team plays at 1pm. If I stream the game in my cell phone(T Mobile) while still in port in Florida will I be charged extra? I figure we don’t leave until after 4 so I’d see the whole game before going into roaming.

    thx
As long as you haven't left port, you will still be utilizing your tmobile network. No problem. As soon as you leave port, go to airplane mode. If you purchased the wifi package, keep airplane mode on and separately turn wifi back on.

  7. Ok, So we are looking at the "sales" for Voom Packages and need some clarification!
Apparently it makes a difference what ship you are on from what I've read. We are on the Oasis, with 8 rooms in a row and hope to open the balcony dividers for easy access to each other. Being all one big, fairly happy family, my husband and I were considering purchasing four surf and stream packages. We figured if somebody wanted to use the internet they could just check in to see who's on, but realize that could quickly become a PITA. Is there a way to know if all four lines are being used so you need not worry about knocking another person off? Do you get four access codes, so perhaps two rooms could share one code to make it easier?

Thanks so much for any advice!
No, you only get an error screen when you log on notifying you that all logins are being used.

  8. Love, love, love Jewel of the Seas! Maybe as we get a little older, we begin to enjoy the simpler things. But the connection to the Sea is so much greater than all of the classes that succeeded. Windows everywhere. Best Schooners Bar that I have been in. The outdoor (open air) windjammer seating is just a gem (pun intended). Our expectation was that we would miss the royal promenade, but the centrum brought people together in a way that pleasantly surprised us and NO $10 tshirt sales or crowded parades. Not quite ready to say that Jewel usurped Adventure's place in my heart, but maybe...... if Radiance class ships had reserved pool deck seating for suite guests, it would be a no brainer!

Oh yeah, the throwback nautical themed Windjammer with wood everywhere was so refreshing after all of the white institutionalized motif they have been doing to all of the wind jammers in dry docks over the fleet!

  10. Will be sailing on my first cruise with the Family on 17-Dec. Really excited.

Was looking for information on Excursions.

2 thoughts, being my first cruise should I book through the ship or do it my self. Weighing options between price and safety.

Also any excursion recommendations at the following ports,

    - Grand Cayman

    - Costa Maya

    - Cozumel

    Thanks.

Highly recommend chef Emily's cozumel food tour! If we would have docked early enough yesterday, i would have done it again. Alas we didnt dock until 11:00am and they were booked.
