  1. Once the reception is over the non-sailing guests are escorted off the ship. Muster drill is right after. You'll then meet your photographer to finish taking pictures around the ship! We kept all of our tuxes for the entire cruise - I simply asked the store where they were rented from if there was any way I could keep them longer and explained the situation. They were so nice and let us keep them for an entire week for the same price as one night!

Did you rent from a chain store? We went into MW and they told us "no." We're trying to figure out what o do now...

  2. Hi all,

I just got engaged and we are thinking of doing a cruise wedding next May/June on embarkation In Baltimore Port. Most likely on Carnival. but how far in advance do I need to book it? Do I have use a travel agent? (I have AAA and used their local travel agents before and it was a disaster, I'd rather not do that again.) I have looked through the boards here but I just don't know where to start!

It is never too early to book your wedding, especially with Carnival. I believe that Carnival only has 2 weddings per day so the sooner, the better. I booked my June, 2017 wedding in December 2015.

You can go with a travel agent, through a Carnival personal vacation planner, or do it yourself.

  3. We are officially booked for a Baltimore port wedding aboard the Carnival Pride on July 2, 2017! My fiancé and I got engaged in Bermuda while on the Grandeur of the Seas this past summer and loved Bermuda. Our original plan was to go back to Bermuda to get married on the beach but have decided to have a port wedding due to non-sailing guest issues instead. I am planning on hiring a professional photographer in Bermuda to do a beach shoot in our wedding attire when we get to the island. So far we have 25 staterooms booked and close to the limit of 50 non-sailing guests. So excited!!!

Were getting married in Galveston on the same day!

  4. Are you in the Houston area? I know of 2 GREAT spray tan companies that do bridal spray tans. And several good bridal makeup artists but they're all in the Houston area.

Another lady on these boards recommended Tradesy to me to look for a used veil or dress on the cheap.

Put your wedding party to work on the rest;)

We are 59 days from the big day!! We can't wait to say "I Do!" aboard the Carnival Freedom on April 30th. I'm totally excited and can't wait for a vacation!

We are finalizing the details for our welcome dinner party which we have decided to hold at the Marriott that we are staying in for convenience. We are having a buffet style dinner, drinks and a live musician in order to achieve that laid-back mingle and have a good time feeling. We only have 16 sailing out of our 50 guests so we wanted to make sure we had the opportunity to spend time with all of them.

I still have quite a few things to do (and making this list is setting off a little stress!):

    • Find wedding make-up. Going to try MAC - any other suggestions?
    • Complete personalized Tumblers for OOT bags
    • Complete centerpieces for the welcome dinner
    • Create slideshow for welcome dinner
    • Come up with flower girl dresses - 7 & 8 years old and the oldest hates dresses!!
    • Attend my last dress fitting
    • Break in my wedding shoes
    • Find a veil - thinking birdcage - where can I get one cheap?
    • Get a tan - anyone experienced with spray tan? Will it rub off on my dress?
    • Order wedding bands - I can't believe this isn't done yet!

I thought I was ahead of the game when I started this journey 12 months ago. But now being just 2 month out I feel like I have procrastinated on a few too many things! I guess the time just crept up on me :D

  5. My daughter is getting married in December 2016 on the Carnival Magic. She has already booked the wedding, but hasn't heard anything about a video. How did you learn this? Would love a video of her wedding.

When did she book her wedding? Someone should have contacted her shortly after she paid and emailed her all of the paperwork that included info for music, cake, flowers, menu, marriage license info, pictures/video, etc. Tell her to look back through her emails and if she hasn't received that info she should contact weddings@carnival.com . Just for reference the paperwork I received quoted me $899 for the video alone and $599 if the video was purchased in addition to a photography package. I hope that helps!

  6. I used a setting spray from ulta to set my make up. I tried it out over the summer in the hottest weather at outdoor events to make sure it held and it did. It was about half the price of the Urban Decay spray. I put it on under my makeup and over as well. As for fake eyelashes I opted for the fiber mascara instead because I knew I would get bothered by the fake eyelashes if they weren't perfect and I didn't want to pay for the lash extensions.

Glad to know that I am not the only one who cannot apply falsies!

  7. @harmonysweet1

    LOVE LOVE LOVE your bouquet.

Plan of doing a brooch bouquet as well! In fact,we are asking my aunts to pass one on to me or let me borrow a brooch for the bouquet. I thought it was a sweet touch to have them apart of the wedding. Yours turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!

  8. I'm not sure how you feel about a shop sample or maybe a secondhand dress. But if you are up for it you might want to check Tradesy. They have great deals on wedding gowns! I got my $1400 Maggie Sottero dress from there for $475. It was a store sample so I have to clean it before we get married but totally worth the savings and not having to worry so much about the money!

Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check it out bc that sounds like a great price.

  9. how far in advance does everyone plan on trying to view a wedding day setup on the ship they are planning on using?

I just learned last week that this was even an option. I too am curious to see when the other brides are completing this step if at all. I'm assuming the ship/wedding visit would need to be at least 3 months before your own wedding so there would still be enough time to inform the Carnival/The Wedding Experience of any changes you would like to make.

Do you know if Carnival charges for this service?

  10. Hi everyone! Big question: we've just decided to get married (yay!) on a Carnival cruise later next year - possibly around September or later. How early did you start planning your weddings? Am I already behind? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Booked my wedding in December of 2015 and wont be getting married until July 2017. So I think it all depends on the person. My fiance has chosen his tux and I will go dress shopping in April. I started designing my website and save the dates right away. I even booked a designer to paint a guestbook map for me and glad I'm did bc she cant start on it until this summer. I think the planning process depends on the person. I love planning so this is fun for me. I dont think that you are behind at all. The best part of having a wedding on a Carnival ship is that a lot of the big details are already taken care of for you if you so choose. This board is a great resource as well. Good luck and happy planning!

  11. I thought the same. max of 2 on embarkation day and and 2 at each port.

I am out of Port Canaveral so it may be different but, I was told that there can be two on embarkation day and I know there are two booked for our day. When cruising out of Miami last year, we also saw two wedding parties going strong after we boarded and then one in our first port and one in our second port.
  12. that is REALLY good advice!

One great piece of advice I got from this forum before my wedding was to bring flip flops with you. You will be running all over the ship for wedding photos (and you mention your shoes re: muster drill) and your feet may be killing you in your wedding shoes. I know I carried my wedding shoes and wore flip flops between shots as we ran around the ship. The deck would have been too hot to run barefoot, so the flip flops were a feet saver for me.
  13. So I heard about this new hedge fund out of Seattle a few months back called SwanLuv. They launch next week and will be giving couples $10,000 towards wedding expenses . You only have to pay back the loan, with interest, if you get a divorce with the exception of domestic violence. A representative for the company said they are not getting rich off of divorce but instead rewarding lifelong marriage. They even provided marriage counseling.

What do you all think of this concept?

  14. You might also want to try the "family cruise" board under special interest cruising. On my last cruise we saw a family there that brought an umbrella stroller and a bouncer with them. They even had the bouncer our near the pool while they lounged on the lido deck.

I would think you would also want to pack lots of extra diapers/pull ups, otc meds, sanitizing wipes, sunscreen, kid friendly snacks like goldfish, crackers, dry cereal. Space in your cabin might be tight with 3 ppl so maybe an over the door fabric shoe organizer to store items in.
