  1. That's up to you, yes you can - as Haven guests we were escorted onboard at 11:00 am. Security didn't open until 10:00 for the Escape so you will have to wait until Security opens, we had no line at checkin. Boarding didn't start till 11:00 but there will be no lines for Haven check in really, it is separate from from all.

    Yay! Thanks for the response!

  2. Hi Everyone! I have lived in Placencia for 22 years! Its safe and a great place to visit! Its about a 10 minute boat ride from harvest Caye and I think the cost is US$20/ There are lots of gift shops and things to buy. You can walk everywhere in the village! Hope you have a great time!:D

Hi, Lee, I’m hoping you might be able to help me with geography; i’m looking to snorkel with a dive company based in Placencia (Splash Belize), and I’m trying to make sure I understand that this is where this ferry from Harvest Caye ends up.

  3. These two quotes are concerning:

Not guilty, even though he admitted to it?

Yikes. I guess this makes sense. But still sad that people have to worry about this even while trying to enjoy their vacation. Keep your kiddos close! :(

I’m surprised that an affidavit was admissible at trial; nevertheless, my understanding (I’m no lawyer) is that inappropriate touching and rape are generally different offenses.

  4. From my limited experience, no; I suspect that they would lose money that way.

For instance: I was booked in an Aft Haven Pentouse with Master (H6); it was a minimum $500pp upgrade bid for a 2-bedroom Family Villa (H4). The price of the H4 dropped dramatically, but the minimum upgrade bid has not. Because of the drop in price, I simply called my TA, and I upgraded to an H4 for about $400 total. Had I done the upgrade bid (and been successful), I would have been furious.

In fact, since since upgrading, my bidding options have not changed.

  5. Hello fine denizens of Cruise Critic! I've searched, but I cannot immediately find an answer to the following question: do they still offer Thermal Suite day passes on the Getaway? Any thoughts on a day pass versus a pass for the entire cruise?

Also -- what are the hours? I envision that I would enjoy it in the evening, after dinner and a fun day of exploring, but is it open later?

  6. Hello! My parents and I are sailing on the NCL getaway early next year; we are booked in an H6. I've been on the fence about bumping up to an H4, trying to decide whether a second bedroom or large balcony is the better option. The price of an H4 has dropped considerably (there is a great deal of inventory), and the cost to change rooms is negligible.

Aside from my concern about the small balcony and possible about motion (forward high-level deck), I'm also concerned about the bed size in the small second bedroom: everything I've read says there is a double pull out in that small second bedroom, but all the photos I've seen seem to show a pullman up top and a twin/single below (from what I've read, the pull-out couch in the H6 can become a queen).

I've search the threads here, and I can't find anything to help clarify. Would appreciate assistance.

  7. I am convinced that NCL is stalking me; only yesterday I was on here reading through the upgrade/bid thread, and, whadayaknow, today I got the upgrade email from NCL.

Sailing on the Getaway in February for my 40th with my parents (so 3 of us); we opted for the Aft-Facing Pentouse with Master because it has two bathrooms, ample space for three, and that balcony.

I'm now trying to decide whether to bid for an upgrade for either the 2-bedroom family villa (more defined spaces but terrible balcony), or the DOS (lots more room (and in room bottle service so we don't need to buy the third beverage package) but only 1.5 baths).

Since "worth it" is relative, I think that I'll just solicit comments from the cruise collective. Thoughts? I've read that wind is a factor on the forward-facing balconies ... also thinking about motion-sickness issues (really rough seas on a sailing in September (between hurricanes :o)).

  8. If I was a betting man, I'd say this nationwide cool front dropping down today will catch up to Irma and push her towards the NE and back out to Bermuda. I live in Colorado now, but lived in Florida for 24 years. Not that that makes me an expert, but I've seen a few in my day.

I just laughed out loud at your signature. Only a lawyer would clearly state that he isn't a lawyer :'):'):')

  9. This will be out first cruise w NCL, we have sailed with Carnival, and I am really excited to experience something new! I am reading everything I can because I am not familiar w NCL! So I have a few questions to start with. I competed the online check in and it says I will be notified when my edocuments are ready. Approximately when does this happen?

What is embarkation like? In the last year or so carnival switched to a system where you choose your port terminal check in time and you aren't allowed into the port until that time. Does NCL do something similar??

What is this Vibe I keep reading about and do we really need it?

We are booked through a travel type agency as part of a 5 O'clock Somewhere cruise and all I really know is it includes the drink package. This is exciting to me as we have never had drinks included!

Thank you for any information you can give me, anthing beyond my questions that you might think is important :) I am on unfamiliar grounds and I am a planner so....I need info! Lol

I sail the week before you! I am following this thread!

  10. We are currently booked on the 1/28/18 western itinerary on Getaway, but when I go on NCL site that date no longer is showing. It has been this way for the past 2 weeks. What would be the reason for this?

Ha! I very nearly booked that week (I booked the next week, 2/4). It was there (for me) this morning; the website (and what I understand, the booking system), can be glitchy and temperamental.

Also, any concerns booking this early? I booked this morning, and I'm nervous that the price will drop.

  11. We are just about to book into the Haven on Epic. I am booking 4 rooms for 8 adult family members. Looking at the deck map, it appears most of the rooms in Haven are "family 2 bedroom" units. Does that mean the Haven is overrun with families with kids? Don't get me wrong...I am not anti kid.....just curious if the percentage of Haven guests appear to be more kids than adults? We have done the 3 bedroom villa on the Jade and this ship is new to us. The Jade was mostly adults in Haven. Curious if folks found the Haven on Epic to be more families with little ones than adults. We are planning Western Mediterranean 2018. I appreciate the feedback!

As an older-adult child traveling with my parents, I can tell you that the 2-bedroom family suites was something I considered; so just because it's a "family" room does not mean it will be children (and I've encountered a number of instances where adults split the room).
