  1. Read, read, read...a luxury I never get to indulge in while at home.

Casino is fun as long as you set a strict limit - I use the penny slots to maximize my time.

Drinking is fun - if you drink more than 1 alcoholic beverage daily consider the UBP to save money (adds up quickly while in your lounger).

Trying at least 1 new food each trip in a new restaurant is a nice box to check

And...trying at least one new show or activity like trivia, painting...something that reminds us of each trip.

    Enjoy!

    Amy

Thanks Amy for the suggestions! I love trivia and hope to entice others to join me!

  2. Happy Sunday! Upcoming cruise with 6 sea days makes me wonder what does everyone enjoy doing on their sea days? Any secrets?

I enjoy reading, working out, going to the spa (when I can afford it), wine tasting, trivia and people watching.

    Your turn, go.......

  3. Thanks for taking the time to answer all the questions after your experience. How about the crew any favorites? Did you visit the gym and if so is the equipment new?

Sailing her in September for the Path of the Vikings - Southampton to NY and I am so excited!!!!

I have done the fjords cruise and it was fabulous on RCCL. Oslo was expensive, but the people were lovely!

    Cheers!

  4. I use cruise critic and join the roll calls for all cruises that I am not familiar with (whether it be the cruise line, the ship or the itinerary) or to do research for my clients (yes, I am a TA). I have met many wonderful cruisers through this site and have gained some great insights for excursions, hotels and other services. Not once have I felt obligated to hang out with other cruises after a meet and greet, but have enjoyed the friendships I have made here. It is not for everyone and you have to weed your way through some BS, but I enjoy the site and take it at face value.

    cheers!

  5. No. You get a letter from the pre-concierge that offers you a choice of coffee (regular or decaf) and a choice of pillows. If you order either through the pre-concierge, you have a <10% chance of the request being properly executed.

We much prefer to meet and talk to our butler and room steward in person regarding preference and requests.

    Thanks

  6. Have you chose your two rooms nearby or together? If you wait and try and change it might not be able to be together. But with college kids that may not mean anything anyway. If it's the vacation you want I would truly just go ahead and book it. If there is a pretty drastic price reduction and less you're on the early saver you can get an onboard credit.

  7. Could be that all the earlier times are full already and 12-3pm is when things slow down?

I can't find the option to choose a check in time. When I preview my documents it says my check in time is 12:30-3:00 PM. Anyone else having check in time issues? I thought maybe it is because the cruise isn't until December 9th, but others have said they were able to choose a check in time a year in advance.
  8. I sailed twice on the Vista. I am not a fan of large ships. I sailed the inaugural cruise and then the TA crossing. My favorite thing about this ship was that wherever I went, it did not seem that crowded. Sorry you had this experience.

    Hi everyone!

We just got back from our spring break vaca on the beautiful Vista on 3/25. We have taken many cruises but this one was our first time going over spring break.

While we had a great vacation, the one thing I noticed on this trip were the lines. They were EVERYWHERE! It would take over 30 minutes to get to the breakfast buffet. Never went to any shows because the lines were so long. Lines for guest services, lines to pick up liquor on the last day, lines for Java Blue. And getting a drink from a bar was at least a 15 minute wait, and many times longer. I never did get a drink at Alchemy because after waiting 2 different times for over 20 minutes, I gave up and went to the Ocean Plaza bar.

So, my question is this......Is this normal for the Vista or was this just a result of this being a spring break cruise? I booked the Sunshine for next year's spring break and not sure I want to deal with the spring break crowds again if that is really what we ran into last week. It also concerns me that there is only 1 public pool on the Sunshine, with the only other being in the Serenity area. I'm excited about next year's cruise though because we got an aft extended view balcony on deck 5 which is supposed to be fantastic.

    Thanks in advance!

  9. When maneuvering in port the thrusters (azipods) may be a noisy annoyance anywhere in the stern of the ship but only for

a brief moment until the ship is underway or tied up to a pier. The azipods move the ship sideways to get closer or farther

from the pier/dock and frequently the stern of the ship will be vibrating with this motion.

The aft cabins on deck 8 as noted are terrible when the entertainment in the Spinnaker Lounge is cranked up. Deck 9 not so

much and by the time it gets to deck 10 unless the base noise is vibrating thru the hull and calling the whales for a convention

it is no longer a problem.

It is no wonder that dolphins porpoises whales jump out of the water to the beat of the music while underway; not really -

but then I do wonder what excites these creatures !

Again as noted stay outta deck 8 aft unless in full party animal mode until the wee hours.

Cabins port and starboard surrounding the Spinnaker Lounge below are not immune

but distance from the center stage diminishes it.

To get a feel of the noise vibration level take the walking jogging track - Promenade deck 7

around the stern of the ship to feel and see the wake of the ship underway.

For some it is a pleasant soothing experience - others not so much and may induce motion sickness.

For the hardy types seeing this man made machine (ship) parting the waters moving at 20 plus knots

is an experience - no water skiing or surf boarding allowed however ! LOL !

    Thank you!
