a simple "i was wrong" would have been enough.

I still don’t read it the same as you, you claim sold out I read we stopped selling because we can’t afford the fcc. You read sailing in may or June I read if we do, it won’t be in the USA so start buying your plain tickets to China because we can change the port of departure and there’s nothing you can do about it.
I was attacked last week for still wanting to go at the end of June ( I still do and would). But these articles and the select info you choose to post is completely contradictory to reality. I understand where your coming from, I really do but telling everyone else there wrong and you are the only person who is right is telling. It’s been two days and a hundred post of you telling everyone else they owe you an apology. You think you proved a point by booking a restaurant but the reality is I could book an Alaska or New England cruise that can’t go the ports there scheduled for. Of course NCL let you book you are the person Del Rio is counting on so he gets a 7 or 8 figure bonus.

While I don’t  disagree with you, the cruise industry is the only industry that didn’t voluntarily shut down. Disney, Vegas, and everything in between shut down for the safety of there guest and staff. If GOVERNMENTS across the world not just the USA didn’t step in the cruise lines would still be sailing into every port around the world.

  3.         Not much for me, I have been a teacher, computer tech, doctor, dentist, maid, and gourmet chef over the last 2 months I’m ready to go.  I’m 85 days out I’m assuming it will be canceled but if not I’m going. I’m not canceling because I don’t want fcc. I also feel far more comfortable on a cruise ship then I would at any domestic vacation. I’m not a camper so my alternative is long lines and close proximity at a theme park. My wife also said no way to a rv trip around the us. I find myself pleasant so I’m not sure what her problem is.

  4.     My mom received her email about the health waiver and cancellation policy I did not. I’m assuming it’s an age thing and they already determined my dad won’t be allowed on. Not sure how they can determine that but that’s my theory. It’s easy to search and find emails and I definitely did not receive anything other than an upgrade bid email or come sail NCL.  There website is a joke with very little information on it so it’s not surprising there is deficiency’s in there email system as well.

Yes, how dare they only send the letter to *checks notes* the people who it applies to!

    The nerve of them!

There policy’s apply to everyone sailing before January according to piece of mind  but only people who sail in the next 30/45 days get emails. I use 30/45 days because NCL says May 11th.  So yes “the nerve or them”.

One issue that your travel agent might be referencing is that you are somewhat limited by the size of ships that can sail because they must be small enough to pass under the Skyline Bridge.

If I were a TA that would be my reasoning. As they introduce larger ships with more activities I don’t think I could do Tampa again. My first couple cruises were out of Tampa because it’s close to my in-laws. We took a 10 more out of Port Canaveral and Miami all large ships. Last April we took a royal out of Tampa and to be honest it was kind of boring. We don’t sit at the pool all day or casino so kind of lame. Most activities the ship offered were geared toward an older crowed who could sit there and do very little. We watched cakes being maid, towel folding demos, and played trivia. By mid week I was wishing I was on at least the breakaway. Please understand we are very active and never sit still for more than 20 minutes. If relaxing is your thing and you enjoy a book with a frozen drink then Tampa is perfect. Like most have said the port, parking, and city are probably the easiest and all positive.

  6. My answer is I’m not sure. Until it’s cancelled I’m booked for the breakaway over July 4th. I really wish the INDUSTRY as a whole would make better decisions. I would have more confidence in the cruise industry if they would just offer refunds for who ever would want it and doesn’t want to travel at this time(for the time being not indefinitely). It just leaves such a sour taste in your mouth that people have to wait until 30 days before your cruise leaves until they cancel it or feel forced to travel when the ports do open. I don’t want fcc because Im only taking NCL again because other travelers wanted this cruise. I had a really bad cruise 2 years ago Boston to Bermuda thru a hurricane. Nothing was open and even docked anchor down the ship was bouncing so much we couldn’t sleep. Other ships 2 RCl 1 Carnival left Bermuda early to avoid the swells but NCL stayed. So I really had no interest of sailing with them again. I was hoping this cruise would turn my attitude around because I do enjoy the NCL crew and Entertainment.

. We have 3 nurse nieces in Boston hospitals which is very worrisome most especially with the shortage of PPE.  I believe WE will be fine but it's them and the hospital and medical staff that concerns us the most.

I hear you, I have a brother in the lynnfield fire department/EMT  and two cousins who are nurses at MCI Concord. There all young and healthy but the situation they are in scares the heck out of me.

  8. Peachtree city Georgia,  Besides learning how to be a kindergarten teacher overnight things are still kinda normal here. I put my city in there because every county is different in Georgia at the moment. A lot of our restaurants are take out only but getting creative. One local restaurant is doing 10 dollars for a meal choice of 5 dishes and you can order fresh meat for the fridge. I love the local spirit that comes out. Our neighborhood is trying a drive by Easter hunt. We hung 1 picture in each house the kids colored in and the plan is to drive by in our golf carts ( yes golf carts we have 100 miles of cart paths)1 at a time and find them. We still are taking walks riding bikes and playing golf anything you can do outside without contact. I am definitely seeing way to many teenagers hanging out instead of staying apart. My family lives in Massachusetts and it’s a totally different situation.

  9. I have a feeling it would be one of those tv only moments they get a shot of you in handcuffs and arraignment then six months later a judge calls you an idiot and let’s you go assuming no priors for jumping ship. What the judge doesn’t understand is you just jumped off a f’n ship and it was totally worth it. Kinda like running on the field to pat hank Arron on the back after he broke the record. They could get in trouble but they patted hank on the back,  totally worth it.

If I was in this situation, I would call the cc company and explain the situation.  Ask them to waive interest rates and increase credit limit by the amount in question (if needed).

Because banks are so awesome they wave interest rates that’s adorable. They also don’t increase credit limits when you max a card out to pay for a trip. That’s ultimately the situation most people are in. They live pay check to pay check not cruise ship to cruise ship. I appreciate your comment but most people aren’t like you and I and can just get a credit increase the world doesn’t really work like that.

  11. We’re cruising with 11 people over 4th of July. I can afford to wait the timeline they give my sister can’t. That timeline means if this clears up her kids still don’t get a vacation this year. That’s the problem others don’t understand.

  12. The enormity of the situation is nothing compared to the massive amount of refunds a retailer gives an hour never mind daily. You get credited within a couple days if not hours. Big businesses use the same systems as your local flower shop just with a higher capacity.  Everything with the cruise lines is digital and modern they could issue the refund  instantly if they wanted too. The reason they don’t is because of the interest there collecting,  not cash flow they would pay out. In 1 day the amount of interest they collect covers all expenses most assume there losing.  It’s greed and  it’s business. It’s also not about filling out forms that’s just a delay tactic. If you just think about the process of booking especially if your a millennial you turn on your computer or phone you check a couple boxes fill out a few forms and within minutes you get confirmation. The reverse process is just as easy. Airlines, Hotels, and amusement parks figure it out and have this stuff figured out and streamlined it thru there websites. Cruise lines build ships with rollercoasters, go karts, and everything else you could imagine including some of the most advanced computer technology that drives itself if needed but can’t figure out how to return money in a reasonable manner?

  13. Usually we like a nice dinner mid week when the kid has had enough of us and wants to go to the kids club lol. Im glad to hear there is turkey day dinner for my wife, i didn't really think about an international company and Thanksgiving when i booked. I have never travelled during a holiday week before but it was a good deal.

Thank you for the quick replies.

  14. Hello, we booked our first Carnival cruise on the Magic for thanksgiving 2018, do they have thanksgiving dinner on a cruise? I personally wouldn't care but its the one time of year my wife gets turkey. I also noticed that you can make reservations now for the steak house, is that necessary we would want to go 1 time as our night out. We booked the Magic, any thoughts on the ship in comparison to other carnival ships? We have been on the NCL Dawn and Breakaway as well as the Disney Dream and I am looking forward to seeing what Carnival is all about.

    thank you

  15.

I much prefer going to a restaurant over dining in the suite so we don't request room service unless we have an early shore excursion. We don't host parties in our suite. We don't ask for special treats or snacks. We enjoy suites for the extra room, the priority embarkation, the private dining room, etc. It's nice the have the butler and concierge available if you need them but we don't tip just because they're there.

Thank you, our butler even suggested not having dinner in the room because it wouldn't be as warm. The reason i booked the suite was for the bigger balcony and room size as well.

  16. This is why choice is a good thing! The live music annoys the crap out of me. It's distracting, it drowns out any hope of conversation, and I (it's weird, I know) feel obligated to watch the dance show and I'd rather be eating. If I want to see a show, there are others on the ship.

When I read this it occurred to me that I didn't see live music at dinner on the Dawn. We only had dinner in the mdr once and it was aqua. I had the memory of a 95 year old women on the breakaway doing a jig with her walker and the host taking her hand for a dance. Im sure it made her trip and I remember the family smiling and laughing. I am not judging just sharing.

  17. It’s fun to explore all the cruise lines and what they offer. I did 3 Carnival cruises and then found a really good RC deal and tried them a couple of years ago. Last cruise we went back to Carnival. I dream of doing a Disney Cruise but they are usually so expensive that it would probably take a few years of saving up to do one of those! I think Celebrity is one that I’m definitely interested in trying in the next few years.

I did a NCL on the breakaway then a DCL on the dream then went back to NCL on the Dawn. It is very tough for me to pick a cruise line now, the breakaway was my first experience so i was a little awe struck and not paying attention honestly. I saw the best on DCL and it was like going on the love boat but with mickey and great entertainment after that and seeing the NCL dawn a year later I'm not sure i could get back on a NCL ship again. Would i feel the same about carnival. Did i get too spoiled by the mouse?
