  1. Gem's Roll Calls for this May has been very slow over the past 6 months. I am running ours leaving this Saturday and there're about a dozen or handful of us until February into March, it only picked up more newbies recently with the last minute sales & price drops ... and solo cruisers. The other 3 Roll Calls for this July are also small & very slow - different demographics ... we aren't nuts about Florida & Nassau in 95+ temperature, heat & hot sun, it's brutal (IMO, of course.)

Relax & plan accordingly, Group Event @NCL is very responsive and happy to contact the ship to request & confirm the logistics.

@ T minus 2 days, just added 2 more last minute ones from MA this morning, got 40+ on the roster. Other more important matters to "worry" about - weather & sea conditions. Taking bets as to whether we can tender at GSC or skipping/going to Nassau with a longer stay, overnighting ... <based on unofficial tracking, not promising on success> wish us luck !

    Good Luck!

We leave on the 20th. Can you post a few dailies when you return?

    Have a great cruise.

  2. we usually tip at the end,,,last time on breakaway in a mini suite large balcony, I tipped Owen $20 on Day 1 and got the worst service ever, no ice, no towel animals, no shampoo or soap, chicken wings under the bed etc

why give prompt service if you already got you tip?

We had the same experience with Owen. I was traveling with a friend and her daughter, their first cruise. She tipped Owen $40 on the first day. We were also in a M6.

Out of 17 NCL cruises Owen was the absolute worst room steward or NCL worker that I have ever encountered.

  3. I am on the 14 day Caribbean cruise and was offered an upsell ranging from $1750pp to $3000pp.(and it did not include the UBP,etc.)

I passed..I have an M6 cabin and felt it wasn't worth it!

    The M6 has a great balcony :)

  4. They have ruined the lamb. They replaced the lamb chops with a lamb loin medallions. We were in the gally watching the butcher cut the loin out of a rack of lamb and discard the bone. The seasoning on the new dish is just wrong.

About half the cruises we took this year were on the old menu, and we take advantage of the last of the lamb chops with our platinum dinner.

    I agree 100%

  5. I have sailed both ways as well.

Yes Haven boards first as well as disabled passengers.

Then you have Casino at Sea passengers, Platinum and so on...

As far as the main theater seating goes they are not great seats. I had better seats when I got there early and was in a mini suite.

The dinner theater you can pay for VIP seating, If you did not then Haven and people who did pay for VIP will get better seats. If you get there early you may luck out and get front row, My friends did on the BA and they were in an inside cabin.

I didn't get any special line for customs last cruise when I stayed in the Haven.

I have been in suites on RCCL, Carnival and NCL. Suite passengers board first on all.

To answer your question: No the Haven is not needed.

  6. But it can work also the other way on more expensive cruises. My 9/2017 NCL Spirit 11 days Med/Venice cruise is only $695 Total. And I didn't have to pay double occupancy. The cruise would have cost me over $4800 in an OV room if paying regular price. Oh, and that's also with insurance added on.

It was so cheap I decided to extend my trip B2B 10 days more for only $680 Total .

So traveling Europe going to 18 ports for 21 days under $1400 is pretty DARN cheap to me.

I absolutely agree. CAS is great, I was just pointing out that other cruise lines don't charge the admin fee for comped cruises....yet anyway!
