  1. Great final words Sally and you couldn't have said it better. Like the saying goes: "**** happens....then you have to flush the toilet and move on!"

For those who don't know.....I am the sick one. I have small cell lung cancer that is extensive as it has already spread. I was diagnosed with this the last week of February. Outlook for this type of cancer is not good - they say 9 to 12 months. However, I like being right and proving people wrong - so we shall see!

I'd cruise with any of these ladies again. I love them all for so many different reasons; before the cruise the support and strength they gave me along with my family and friends, on the ship, the love I felt from them, and I know it will only continue. I've told them on board and I'll tell them again......I have three empty bedrooms. All you girls are welcome any time. Just check with me to make sure it's not a chemo week or the week after as those weeks aren't good ones for me! :)

    Harriet

::looking for another 3-8 sail free, Casino Deal in the GV again or even will settle for a few cabins close to each other in the very near future! LOL

    I agree great review Sally.

Harriet next cruise, Nothing will keep me from going I'm so sorry I missed it. Sally was able to take my spot and I am so happy she did.

Harriet can you post the you coming down the slide picture. It made me feel the happiest I have in months.

I love you all very much.

  2. Just catching up on this thread. So sad. There's goes the unique free venues on both those ships.

The burgers at Uptown grill are really good. They're huge and had just right amount of spices. We could order them without a bun and have plenty for a quick lunch. Uptown was supposedly there for a more NY food expereince.

Before the Flamingo grill who knew I liked yucca? Flamingo gave the GA a Miami flavor. We make sure we had lunch there a least a couple of times.

I'll be on the GA in November, for the 3rd time. My SIL is going with us and was looking forward to the Flamingo, based on my and my DW comments. She's been on the Escape with us, so now there's they'll be nothing new. Margaritaville was mostly empty the both times we've been on Escape. We've never been impressed with the food on land, much less pay for it on a cruise ship. Now we can pay for average food with no atmosphere on 3 ships.

I thought having different venues on the different ships was real plus. This is especially true, given the food is really good in both of the venues they're replacing. I guess we're paying for a bad contract that NCL made. So sad.

The contract/venue was great when it was free. According to NCL they had to start charging a fee for Margaritaville to tame down the crowds.

  3. When I had it, it was truly different items. For instance, I've never seen a breakfast in MDR that I couldn't get in the buffet. This was different. On the other hand, the pretzel breadsticks were identical to the ones downstairs in the buffet. But you couldn't get guacamole in the buffet, and the burgers were better than I'd ever had anywhere on the ship. The nachos were miles above the ones served in O'Sheehan's. Same for the fish 'n chips. Conch fritters? Nope. Those aren't found anywhere else, and they are good. The beauty of it was that it was indeed unique. And free. *sigh*

What a shame because Kevin Sheehan meant for this to be a free venue:

    https://www.ncl.com/press-releases/Norwegian-Cruise-Line-Sets-Sail-For-Exclusive-Partnership-With-Margaritaville

Margaritaville's iconic name brings to mind the desire in everyone to kick back and escape the everyday, if only for a few hours or days. Norwegian Escape's Margaritaville restaurant and bar will embody that essence of escapism with a laid back atmosphere inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett. Nostalgic island moments will come to life with a menu that invites guests to take a bite out of paradise with signature items like the Cheeseburger in Paradise and Who's to Blame Margarita. This venue will be one of Norwegian Escape's many complimentary dining outlets.

  4. Just a bigger nicer bathroom really not much of a difference. I would go for the M6 with the large balcony.

The good thing about cabin 10190 is close to the elevators. The M6 is a hike but I found the large balcony worth the walk.

  5. Can I ask was it an HC cabin you had booked?

I would flip out if they changed my cabin! The good thing is your cruise is a year out.

If they don't give you your original cabin maybe you can pick one you are happy with and get some OBC.

Please keep us posted. Good luck!

  6. There was all you can eat lobster in the buffet until it was changed to "seafood night" and that was FDR who did that. Not sure it even exists anymore now. I recently saw a post from May 2015 saying there were lobster tails in the buffet.

Last time I heard of the all you can eat lobster at the buffet was on my June 2014 cruise. I don't know the date they stopped it. I don't really eat that but my family loved it.

  7. Yep I tried Royal this past March as you know and it doesn't compare to NCL. Regardless of the changes NCL has made in my opinion Royal doesn't come close with the casino program or their food which I thought was horrible. The grass isn't always greener next door.

On the Anthem the Crew was amazing. Really the crew reminded me of how the NCL crew used to be.

Also the ship layout was fantastic.

The food was awful on the Anthem and the Casino Crew and Staff need to get it together.

The shows were not great either, First time I ever walked out of a show on a cruise. We Will Rock You was a let down!

I did love how the Anthem had the Solarium at no charge! NCL should think of that for cruises leaving NY in the winter without people having to play for the Haven or Spa. RCC also has costal kitchen for their loyal members and suite guest. We were in a suite so we ate there the food and service is much like the Haven.

If I was to compare the Breakaway to the Anthem.

Ship layout and balcony cabins: RCC hands down!

Casino program: NCL is much better.

    Staff: RCC

    Entertainment: NCL

    Food: NCL!!!!!!

Ship Cleanliness: RCC by a long shot.

Member rewards: Low level NCL. Higher levels RCC

    Activities for free RCC

  8. hopefully that haven't dropped the pizza with beef strips and garlic......omg.....it was to die for. my wife tried a bite of mine and ate half of it....

    OMG that sounds amazing!

Maybe someone can post the new menu. I would be interested in trying that next cruise on the BA.

last year I had the steak my friend had the Osso Buco the kids had the pizza....All was really really good!

  9. what about la cucina...

I liked it last time on the BA but that was last July. The bread was great with 3 dipping oils. They have now stopped doing that (Fail on NCL's part IMO) I think they changed the menu since then, so I can't answer on how the new menus are.

  10. Out of curiosity, why do you say that? Food is subjective; what one person may love, another may not be happy with at all. We personally have never had any problem with Modrnos and love the salad bar so much.

I loved the salad bar too even the soup was amazing. It was not the same on my last cruises in fact it was very different salty dry meat. The soup was still good.

They did not have Ceviche the last two times on the BA. I'm not sure if that is a Permanent change.

  11. We have been to Moderno before on some ships - loved it at the beginning but have stopped going - the meats are oversalted, and getting tough.

Le Bistro and Cagney's are better.

We used our SDP in both and had lobster both times.

I totally agree with you. What happened to Moderno? It was so good the first time I went there. I hope they step it up.

  12. Was on Breakaway a couple of weeks ago and the new menus were in effect. They should also be in effect on Getaway, but I can't guarantee that. However, the new menus have lobster tail as part of surf and turf (included half of the lobster actually) and 1 1/2 lb lobster available every night. The specialty restaurants also had a lobster entrée. The tail in the Haven was some of the best lobster we have had ever. The lobster entrée in Le Bistro was not good at all. You can wait until you are on board and use the concierge to make your reservation for specialty restaurants.

    Thats great info....Thanks!

  13. A little off topic but.... On the last night of the cruise the spa closes at 8pm. I lost track of time and ended up staying until 9pm. I got up from the heated lounger and realized after a minute that I was surrounded by performers from all three shows. Pretty cool to watch them "shop talk" about how many months they've been there and all.

That is fun! Did you hear any of them say how they liked living on the ship?

Happy or Sad their contract was up?

I think NCL has had amazing performers weather we like the shows or not is another issue. But IMO they are very talented.

  14. I stood at the back of the breakaway theater and just watched people leave one by one... Show was horrible IMO

Thats such a shame. We loved it and saw it a few times, I never saw anyone walk out.

It would be great if NCL would get a new show on the BA. I won't be seeing it again on my next cruise.

    Joey make reservations online.

  15. We have never had check in times on NCL. We just showed up. This upcoming cruise we are in a suite and plan on arriving early no matter what we are told. On Disney you get a time and they won't let you in the line til your time.

You will have no problem at all. Suite guest can go anytime. I don't have a time for my Aug cruise on the BA in a suite.

As a Haven or suite guest, a Platinum Latitudes Rewards member or a guest with air travel or transfers provided by Norwegian, you do not need to select your arrival time to the pier. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 9:30 am - 10:00 am and no later than 1 hour prior to departure and we will get you settled in.

  16. Well if the reason to return to port is to beat a weather system there is no reason to make anyone disembark early.

If the reason is norovirus, then yes, people will have to disembark for a deep cleaning.

But since Royal has said it is weather related, people should be allowed to stay and not have to incur change fees on travel arrangements.

It maybe both. I am boarding on the 4th for the 3 day, So it will be reassuring if it gets a deep cleaning for two days.
