Sometimes in the hall next to your room, sometimes in the room, sometimes down the hall from the room.

I have to agree with this, though IME it´s like 95% in outside, 3% inside, 1% down the hall (as for the down the hall thing, I someties pick up my backs down the hall, but that´s just getting my stuff ahead of them delivering it a short while later)

My Big Box travel agent reservation form has a mandatory bed configuration selection.  You cannot proceed with the reservation, whether online or with a customer service rep, unless to choose the way you want the beds.  If you use a travel agent, make sure they record your choice when you book.

IME at the end of the day it doesn´t matter what´s noted in the reservation, the bed will be set up the default way and not the way you noted on the reservation.

Not a big deal anyway, as it´s just done at turndown service.

I do think though it´s added work for the cabin attendants, more costly, as they have loads of additional laundry and last but not least not very environmental friendly, as loads of laundry are wasted.

But they were rather extensive menus, so you could choose different items each time you ate in that restaurant. Just like real restaurants at home!

I disagree with this. The menus were in line with other menus from RCI pre and post DD in the way of diiferent items offered on them. By far not like a real restaurant at home. I´ve rarely visited a restaurant at home with a menu like on a cruise ship. There´s simply no comparison DD or classic/MTD to a majority of restaurants on land.

I remember quite well a galley tour on Oasis prior to the dry dock when they talked about splitting the MDR into venues for DD. Prior to entering the galley the Chef, Maitr´D and HD explained their plans about DD and wow they were not prepared for the negative comments. I´ve rarely seen people backing out quicker.

Anyway I completely agree to disagree with you on this topic as I know your love for DD and me being a proud member of the, as you call them, "whiners that killed DD". We both know we are not alone with our opinion.

I was on the inaugural for the Quantum and also loved DD.  Yes it has some rough edges since it was the first time for the staff, but the food was great.  A really nice change from the same old same old menu that RC has had for the last 25 years.

Not quite true. RCI had quite a few menu changes over the years. Those menu changes over the years offered more variety IMO. At least you had a daily changing menu and have it again today. With DD they had one menu / venue. So for a two week cruise the only menu change / variety was chosing between the 4 restaurants. So 14 different menues from 1 venue changed to 4 different menues from 4 venues. I´ll take 14 different ones as more choice than 4.

  5. Well I hope they don´t bring it back, but I´m not holding my breath.

I´ve experienced it on Ovation and it was a desaster. To me the comcept was and is a complete failure. I don´t want to hop dining rooms every night. The menues have been the worst I´ve ever seen on a cruise and the food and service was just in line with those menues. I´ve never been served so much cold and undercooked or better say raw food on any ship. Some food items sure can be served that way, but ot when it comes to seafood, fish that is not a fresh catch but has been frozen and especially not when it comes to poultry.

14 nights of this and no menu change other than if you changed restaurants - no thanks.

Did you miss the places where I repeatedly said that the object of the post was not to complain, but that I was wondering why the itineraries were the way they were?

There is a pretty easy answer to this - because it´s profitable for the cruiseline to run them this way. If they can fill their ships and make a good profit from the sailings as they are, they will offer and continue to offer them. If they don´t they will change the offers.

    Worry about the monetary benefits.

Absolutely!!! Owning shares is a financial investment and it´s in the best interest of any shareholder to have the company being prosperous, get dividends paid and have the stock price go up.

All of this comes with success of the company and for sure any preference given to a stockholder over a regular customer would not help with the task.

As a stockholder I believe we have earned non-monetary benefits, and ask the question what would you want before sailing, during sailing, and after the cruise ?

Before: 1. RCL planner that is at the highest level in customer service and respect.  2. Top priority boarding and handling of baggage to the room.

During the cruise:  1. Concierge service:  2. Reserved seating at events. 3. Dinner with Captain

After the cruise:  Top priority departure

In general the same benefits that do not cost the company money,  that a Crown & Anchor member who is a Pinnacle level has earned.

Let´s see, as none of these non-monetary benefits are given, I´d say RCCL and the majority of stockholders don´t believe you have earned those.

But as a stockholder you are free to go to the annual shareholder meeting and suggest this.

Tell us how it goes and how many of the shareholders are voting for your suggestion.😂

Oh just for the record, this shareholder will vote "NO".

On a whim I decided to download Royal's app to check it out before my cruise next month. I saw the tips section under Day 1 that Wifi is free on-board with the app.

Is this the case for the entire cruise, or just the first day? Does anyone have experience using the app for the free Wifi?  Would really love to cancel the internet package we bought if we can.

    Thank you!

You are confusing Wifi with Internet access.

You can connect for free to the ships Wifi, where there is no Internet package needed for. If you want to connect to the Internet you need to purchase an Internet Package. Internet access is not free at any time.

The Jewel is changing its transatlantic sailing due to storms. I can appreciate that. They are changing ports and said that booked and paid tours and port taxes will be refunded, but to your on board credit, not to the credit card which poaid cash for them. I find this totally unacceptable that RCCL is basically keeping the money since if you do not use all on board credit it is not refunded.

Why a second thread on this???

At least this time you are not talking about theft🙄

Idk why I’m thinking that they don’t vacuum the rooms as often as they used to do before. They do clean the bathroom etc but vacuum cleaning is not really enforced. I had a piece of paper near the closet room and it never moved frkm

tje floor. I also had an Advil that I unintentionally dropped and was there the whole week. Maybe it’s consistency but now I rarely hear the vacuum clean noise from anybstaterrom as we walk by the walkways.

    Seriously???

You are dropping something and you don´t pick it up, but watch it for a whole week???👎👎👎

I don't cruise often enough for my opinion to be significant, but I think that something has got to give.  I don't think that it is in RCI's long-term interest to become or be perceived as just the other cheap, mass market cruise line, if you know what I mean.  if they're trying to compete down instead of up, then loyals will naturally flee to other, more comfy lines.  Not sure if Azamara or Celebrity are that alternative, maybe I should try them (or maybe I'm just getting old!).

While I do understand your point of view as a customer, I think your expectations about their point of view are wrong. Every cruise line from the cheapest mass market line to the most luxury line will try to sell their ships at max. capacity. It must be their goal to sell as many berth as possible. If they want less people onboard, they will put less cabins on the ship, but once a cabin is there, they want to sell it.

The purpose of my post is 2 points:;  1. to hopefully have RCCL reps see this and see how dissatisfied/disappointed there customer is (it would not be hard to figure out who I am) and 2. Direct vacationers to other cruise lines that "take care of there customers".  For a service industry I was applauded of thier lack of concern and the blame they put on me (THE CUSTOMER ).. apparently  it was my fault their security personnel didn't do anything.  They are lucky that I am a trained *** *** ********* and was able to take my wife and children out of a situations that could have been bad. ..   (and for you sarcastic people, yes its good to be trained in combat, thanks for your tax contributions).

Well my guess is this is a complete failure. I say thanks for the heads up about RCI, but now I need to go to book my next RCI cruise.

Yeah, thanks.  I was planning to use the one on my phone, and I thought it might be handy throughout the cruise.  I'll report back when I find out the answer.  🙂

I doubt it will work, because usually they don´t scan a bar code from the seapass card for purchases. For this purpose they use the magnetic stripe of the card or the RFID chip (depending on what kind of cards are used on the ship). The bar code is only used for getting on and off throughout the cruise.

  15. There´s no foolproof system and mistakes can happen anytime.

I once checked into a Hotel in NYC and was given a room number and keycard just to find the room occupied. I got the impression the occupant(s) were in the bathroom, but I didn´t check and quickly backed out again.

To get back on a ship I ordered a drink and didn´t check the card when it was returned to me with the delivery of my drink. Well you guess it, I got the wrong one back and someone else got mine.

As it was dinner time I tracked the person down at their traditional dining table and they had not recognized yet and were quite surprised. So two people didn´t realize they had been given the wrong card, though it was handed personally and individually.

Yep I started checking everytime from that incident on.
