  1. Are the main indoor eating and drinking bars and restaurants air conditioned? Is it cool indoors on the ship or is it baking hot?

As a pasty Irishman I struggle in the heat so just wondering what I'm going to be like on our Oct 16th honeymoon to Honduras, Belize and Mexico?!

Hi Rob32!! We're on the same cruise!! Congrats on your wedding. :)

  2. Ok. I just got off the phone with NCL. ( sailing Oct 16 on the Getaway). The phone rep said Illusionarium is not showing in the system as being canceled. He put me on hold for about 15 minutes, said he spoke to 2 different supervisors, and they also were not aware of any change.

He told me that even if NCL had not sent out a memo to supervisors regarding any changes, that the computer system would have been updated, and not allow anyone to book the show. He could still pull up the show & book it, as can I.

He said if anything changed, and a show was canceled, you would be notified by email, and given to choice to book something else or just get a refund.

I won't hold my breath for any email, but I will still keep my eye on my booking to watch for changes.

So I'm not sure what is going on, as it seems there is different info being given out?

  3. I never wear a watch either except on a cruise. And I bring a battery operated alarm clock with me even though you can set a wake up call from the phone in the room. Even if I don't set the alarm it drives me crazy if I wake up during the night and don't know what time it is. Yes, crazy I know but whatever. :)

This is me exactly! I NEED to know what time it is. Don't know why. Lol

  4. Thanks everyone for all the info! This will be our 1st NCL cruise, so as we get closer, I expect to be posting more questions! Lol

We had a family pow wow, and just decided to go with the 10:00pm show. It's not ideal, cause we are early risers, but hey, it's vacation!

The system would not let me book it anyway, due to the timing, & I feel more comfortable with actual reservations. Also, we decided we didn't really want to feel rushed during dinner, and having to keep checking our watches.

    Thanks again everyone!!

  5. I don't know if it was the OP, but somewhere on this forum there is the reported response from "Beverly" at NCL that they will not allow water filtering bottles to be brought on board either, and will confiscate them prior to boarding. According to this second level supervisor you will not be able to bring your own sport bottle back on board in any port.

Carnival now has large bins and all bottles have to be deposited in the bins when re-boarding in port.

Wait a minute, when you say " sports bottle " do you mean bottles of water purchased in port? Or insulated bottles that you can refill ? I love my insulated bottle, it stays cold for hours, & was planning on taking it on excursions.

  6. Whoa careful there, on some days we grab breakfast in the buffet just because we want a small breakfast. I'll never forget the furry man in the banana hammock that graced us with his presence while we were eating. The best part is he wasn't passing through, he was getting a plate of food practically in the nude.:eek:

EDIT: I'm aware you said MDR but just a warning that you see all sorts at the buffet.

    Please, God, no. lol

  7. Hi all. My daughter has the 3 meal dining package, & I'm trying to find out how best to use her credits. ( I have the UDP because we booked a year out )

We plan on eating at Teppanyaki, Cagney's, La Cucina, Moderno, and also doing the Illusionarium show. Which 3 should she use credits on, and which should she pay out of pocket ? I'm definitely thinking Cagney's for use of 1 credit, but what about the other 2?

For the 1 restaurant that she does pay out of pocket, is it just a set fee, because I don't believe any of my other choices are a la carte?

And also, how does the Illusionarium show work with the UDP?

    Thanks for any suggestions!!!

  8. Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't know that the booking part was free.

I guess I will see if I am able to get my mom's also when I am connected, as she doesn't have a smartphone to download the app.

Is it pretty easy to navigate? Could you tell me where I go to within the app for the tender info?

    Thanks again

  9. Hi, we are new to NCL, and I have a question about tender tickets.

I have seen posted that you can actually get your tender times/ tix while waiting to board in the terminal thru the iconcierge appt. ( I do plan on paying for this)

How does this work, exactly? There will be 8 in my party, and everyone will not have a smartphone. Am I able to get all 8? Or at least 4 ( for my husband in my cabin, and my mom and daughter in another cabin w/ no smartphone? )

I do know everyone's info for their My NCL accounts, so if I cant get all 8 at 1 time, can I just go to the individual accounts & get them that way?

    Thanks for any info!!!

  10. I am looking into this as well for our Oct cruise. I was wondering about kids also, so I went to the Playa Mia website & used the live chat option to ask. They recommended for someone not drinking alcohol to just get the day pass & buffet option, and to use cash bar for soda. So evidently the buffet option comes with no drinks (soda, etc) whatsoever.

Not knowing the cost of each soda, I think I am just going to go ahead & buy the full package for my 10 year old. It's only like $15 more, so I figure she can get some soda & even a virgin pina colada or strawberry daiquiri.

I am also debating on whether to book thru NCL or direct. Either way, I'm thinking its cheaper (at least for me and my party of 8) to get the transportation included. Taxis are regulated, and for my party of 8 it would be $35 each way. At least that's how much to Mr Sanchos beach club, from what I see.

My problem is the timing. What time does the NCL trip depart? We want to get there when they open. Can we leave when we want? If NCL isn't rolling out till after 9, I would not be interested.

If you find out anything about times, please post! Thanks

  11. Hi. Had anyone used the transfers offered thru NCL? I was thinking of using their service from the Miami port to Ft Lauderdale airport, but have a few questions.

    1. What time did they assign you to disembark?

    2. Do they deal with the luggage? Meaning, if we put our bags out the night before, do we still have to claim them after customs and bring them to the bus/shuttle, or do they take care of that?

I know I could get transfers cheaper, but it would be worth it to us if they took care of the luggage, as my mom is somewhat mobility impaired.

I have been reading some stories here about people waiting 3 hours to get off the boat, so I'm also thinking if we have transfers thru the ship it might prevent that in a worst case scenario with customs.

    Thanks for any input.

  12. We used them for private snorkel excursions in Grand Cayman and St Maarten, and currently have another booked through them for Roatan. We had no problems, and actually these tours were the highlight of our cruise. We paid 25% upfront, then the balance is due when you take your excursion, in cash ( or travelers checks, I believe) They send you a confirmation email after your deposit, that you print out and bring with you.

You might have to call your credit card company and give them a "heads up."

I didn't do this my first time, and my Visa rejected the 1st attempted billing from the Caymans.
