  1. @RGEDad   Thanks.   I woke up early this morning and pulled the box out of my suitcase.   I hadn’t even taken it out of the cardboard box it was sent it.   Opened it and saw on the outside of the test box about staying between 15 and 30C.    In my carry on now.

Thanks @DaveOKC   If you hadn’t of posted this thread, I would have probably ruined a $179 test.

I know this sounds a bit odd, but............

We both were tested today at CVS and results were Negative.  I had bought the eMed/Telehealth tests as a backup plan, in case CVS messed up somehow.

Now, since I have copies of the Negative results in hand, is there ANY reason to bring the eMed/Telehealth tests with us on the cruise.  We are departing out of Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, flying in tomorrow (Saturday).  These tests need to be carried on due to temps. in the hold.

Thoughts please.  Leaving in the AM.

Tests can’t go in check in luggage?

There are always "high star mariners" on every cruise.

For instance, the day after tomorrow embarking on Koningsdam:

               4 President's Club

               2 Pinnacle Suite

             23 5 Star

             57 4 Star

             12 Neptune Suite

             34 HAL hotel transfers

             77 Airport transfers

Total number embarking is only 1196

So, about 20% are going to be prioritized in some fashion regarding arrival times.  Take into account that on a "typical" sailing, 200 or more guests arrive 2 hours before they should and you can see that there is a need for spacing Group A though Groups E/F/G.

Each boarding group is limited to between 250 and 300 depending on the sailing time of 4 pm or 5 pm.

    David

Well now I gotta know.   4 President’s Club?   What is that?   Am I allowed to look at them directly?

Where did you get those numbers?

I (a mere mortal 3-star) have also been moved from Group A, to Group B, and now to Group C. I look forward to basking in the Stariness of my 4 & 5 starred fellow Group Cers. I hope I do not embarrass, or heaven forbid have a faux pas, near my fellow C groupies. I promise I will shower and everything before joining the queue, and even go so far as to shine my flip flops.

I am on the same cruise as you.   I too, am a mere 3 Star.  But they put me in Group A.   Should I call HAL and advise them that they have made an error and I shouldn’t be boarding before those that deserve to get on 20 mins earlier than me.   The 10 day cruise is 14,400 mins long (actually longer as that’s from sailing time on departure day) and 20 mins could really make or break the whole cruise.   Perhaps I should go on the Roll Call and offer my spot?

  5. I had booked my test weeks ago and made it only the day before flying.   Just glad they didn’t come up with another hoop to jump through.   It’s been a very rough week for me.   My best friend and companion, the little guy with me in my picture, crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectly last Thursday evening.   I am not even sure I want to go anymore.   I miss him so much.   I’m forcing myself to go.

  6. Its not the reduction to 24 hour testing before entry that is concerning me.  Apparently there is also a discussion that the US will require ALL non-citizens arriving to quarantine for 7 days upon their arrival, regardless of their vaccination status.   I read someplace that currently non vaccinated are recommended to quarantine but it’s not mandatory.   If this blanket quarantine is enacted, before my arrival to the US on Saturday, obviously no cruise for me.   Also, if they have this blanket quarantine for all non-citizens coming from international, does that cruise ships?   So many questions, so many unknowns.  Gotta love this stress.

nope....it says come back closer to your sailing date....which is Dec. 5!

I’m on the same cruise I believe.   The navigator app is only showing excursions and any packages I bought, but no speciality dining reservations, but on the HAL website it all shows up.   And as for events, it’s the same, come back closer to your sailing date.    Perhaps the 4th?

Good news for you.  Maybe you'll be on the ship earlier too.  May I ask how HAL informed you?  Via email?  Phone app?  Thanks.

I received an email from HAL with this.     I went to Navigator and the boarding pass had been updated.   As long as I’m on before it sails at 4pm, don’t really care when I get on.   I’m staying at a HAL arranged Hotel and using their transfer service.

Yes, air Canada does have one that is acceptable that you purchase through them that is acceptable to return to Canada .  I’d posted a couple days ago about it but quickly forgot again.  That may help the op just in case so thanks for bringing it up.  I flew air Canada down but won’t be using them to get home so unfortunately it doesn’t help in my case.

Are the Switch tests ordered through Air Canada, only good for Air Canada flights?

We are looking to drive across the border to Detroit and fly to Miami for an upcoming cruise.  We don't believe we need covid testing prior to the flight given that we are already within the US and it will be a domestic flight.  Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks

Don’t you need one anyways to get on the ship?   Or did they lift that requirement recently?

  11. Have been in the PS on the Zuiderdam, Noordam, and in December, two back to back cruises in the PS on the Eurodam.    The whirlpool is not heated but use lots of hot water and its not an issue.  I was in it one night for 3 hours until 2 am, just after we left Montenegro.   It was awesome.    It may be a bit chillier off the coast of Alaska.  Always ordered breakfast in the room, and when I got up the breakfast was nicely set out on the table with linens.   I have ordered High Tea a few times, and it’s been great.  The cruises in December will be my first solo cruise(s).   I really don’t need the PS but I just love the suite.

Josie201 and crew are on our way.
we left Ottawa very early this morning and are now in Toronto on the plane waiting to depart for FLL.

We are all fully vaccinated though with some mixed doses.  But thankfully that all got sorted out.

We all got tested on Friday, some at Walmart and some at Costco.  It was painless but appointments were scarce.  I had three back ups in case there were any cancellations.

We have e docs and paper docs for vaccines and tests.  Paper docs were reviewed in Ottawa and then again as we boarded in Toronto.

We have tests at a clinic on Wednesday in FLL and we board the Celebrity Silhouette on Friday.

Our last trip together was a cruise in March 2020 where our ship got turned around on day 3.  We had a stressful return to home where we’ve anxiously waited to use our FCC.  We were originally booked on the Edge for this week but that was cancelled when the CDC said no cruises longer than seven days. We moved to the Silhouette and crossed our fingers.

    Hard to believe it’s here!

I’ll try to report back in later on FLL testing and ship board life.

Where did you book?    I’m trying to find a place in Ottawa for 3 Dec with no luck.   I tried to book at SDM in Kanata two weeks ago but they said it’s walk in only.

    Hello.

Thanks again for the info. We are travelling to FLL from Ottawa via MTL on December 2nd . We don't have Nexus, so we'll be in regular US customs line in MTL. Just wondering if anyone out there has recently connected in MTL to go to FLL. We have done it in the past, and I assume that we will not need to retrieve our luggage prior to going through customs. Is this still the case? We have 2.5 hours to connect to our FLL flight.
    Thank you.

    jy

I’m right after you on the 4th.   Originally booked direct but now changed to go through MTL.  I have 2 hrs 45 mins to pass through and no Nexus.   Hopefully it all works out.   Happy cruising

Now if a person could book that instead of a cabin that would be a heck of a deal 😉.  Might get cold for some of the cruise though.

I’m in a Signature Suite for the World 2024 for approx $128,000.    I’m thinking I should go to a lower category and then just book the cabana for the whole trip.   That way I have a cabin and a “balcony”.  🤪

Just returned from Fort Lauderdale from an 8 day cruise. Had the cruise shuttle drop me off at Terminal 3 so I could get my rapid PCR test for my return the next day . Took only 15 minutes in and out and $159 US . Had my results before I got to the hotel..Filled out the arrive can app. Very easy.
When I arrive in Montreal no one looked at any paper work, asked if I was vaccinated , never  asked for my arrive can receipt and passed me through to public health. There they were randomly selecting people to be retested for COVID using a PCR test. Dynacare provides the service and you have to open an account with them and then go in to have the test. There were 8 cubicles and they were full .test only took minutes and I was on my way .
To say that this was a pain in the butt after along day travelling is an understatement. The only topic of conversation on the way to the baggage or connections was how none of the paper work was looked at ,no receipts asked for  and apparently some people were not even asked if they were vaccinated.

Did the cruiseline not provide a test before the last day?   Which cruiseline were you with?

I was in my local Orleans SDM picking up a prescription earlier this week and was told that they accept - in fact recommend - making reservations in advance over the phone. You might want to check a few other SDMs in your area before giving up on them.

Thanks.   I was thinking of doing that.   But I’m still also thinking that I will get one from Air Canada for back up.   Just in case.   If I get one, I won’t need it.  If I don’t, I will.
