  1. Can't speak on the Cheers program.  The bottle water offered by Carnival is very reasonable price. I always pre order a 12 pack for the cabin and place in the frig.

If you sail with Carnival before, you will get a 2 little of water normally later that evening on the first day.

I also normally have my Yeti with me and have gotten water in the Lido and no issue with taste

  2. Hi recently sailed on the Valor in September and December solo.  The evenings I requested a two top, no issue at all.  I had to wait about 10-15 minutes and one time right to table.

I lucked out on the September trip with an excellent dining room team.  I enjoyed their service that I requested to sit in his area the rest of that trip and again in December sat in his section.

One night I was placed at a four top alone but no issue.  When sitting at the two top, I would sometimes chat with the people next to me. Otherwise said hello and enjoyed my meal.

  3. About ten years ago, there was an outbreak of the Swine flu which had major impact on the cruiselines who sailed to Mexican ports.

I was booked on a five day on Carnival out of New Orleans.   At that time I had an excellent cruise travel agent who kept me updated and also gave me warning about being flexible for changes.

The evening  before my sailing,  it was changed from five to seven days, from two stops in Mexico to Key West,  Freeport, and  Nassau.   Luckily I had drove and always took extra days pre and post cruise.  However it was chaos at the port because some people were not aware  and for those who flew in, quite a few didn't bother  to board.  Carnival offered refunds and incentives for cruising again.   Those who did sailed got some OBC.

I had friends who flee of sail out of San Diego for seven day charter cruise and it was changed to San Francisco,  Seattle  and sea days want to say it was Royal Caribbean.   Those that went were very unhappy on board.

My cruise is not until August, while we have travel insurance,  going back to read again.   I got it mainly for work and if injury happens.

I got a feeling stricter measures might happen and if someone looks like or pointed out, either have additional screening and up to denied  boarding .

Curious on how this ship and passengers will be handled returning to US soil.   Curious if next sailing is going to have late delays due to heavy cleaning and crew and passenger health  checks or reduced  or canceled for deep cleaning

  4. As a former airline employee, I would say if the ship is sailing out late (example some San Juan cruises and Bridgetown that have late sailings) or an redeye who come in early like between 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. which leaves some room for a slight delay, I can't stress enough the horrid stories and seeing people crying and upset on flying the cruising day.

  5. Sea days!  One of the best things about cruises are sea days!

I love getting up early to watch the sun rise with a cup of coffee.  Normally few people around.  Even if I have a balcony, head out of my cabin to watch the sun. After that enjoy a great breakfast.

Next find a perfect place to relax and watch the sea.  Don't have to be near others.  Long as I can see the watch, hear the sound that's all I need.

Then the most important part of sea days NAPS! I hated naps as a child.  But on sea days, nothing like coming back to your cabin, take a shower and then a nap.

End the day later with something sweet either from room service or taking a slice of cake or other dessert from dining room

Can't wait until August to enjoy this

  6. First of all, sorry that staying in the Havana section was not the best.  However, no matter if staying in the cheapest inside cabin or penthouse suite on any cruiseline, you have no say or idea what the cruisers next door, across the hallway or near your cabin will be like.

You will meet some of the best and worst, not just on Carnival.  I sail just as much on Holland America as Carnival and have fellow cruisers that while not playing music loud, but rude, nasty, not controlling their children running while.

Yes you paid extra for another level of cruising, but others can also and in this time we live in, there are some who don't care about others, only about their good time and forget everyone else.

The same can happen on Royal Caribbean, Holland America, NCL, Seabourn,.  I can't afford Seabourn, but personally know a couple who sails with them often and she tells about the behavior of fellow cruisers.

At times can't escape rude and stupid.  Hopefully your upcoming sailings will have little or no issues

  7. I will shamelessly admit decades ago on my first cruise, I wore a full length sparkly dress and four inch heels full glam all the way.  Last few cruises, I have a nice short sleeve lace top and nice black pants and flat ballet slippers.  It's dressy, but comfy. I also have a nice black dress that I will carry on longer cruises.

Like someone else stated, more about being comfy.

  8. I'm sailing out of Galveston solo next October on Carnival Radiance.  While no solo cabins, the partial Panama canal sailing on Carnival was cheaper than other cruiselines including those with solo cabins.

I haven't used Carnival bus transport since my family reunion cruise and for me the pricing is reasonable compared to other options.  Flying into Houston day before sailing and take the bus down.

I have mixed feelings with solo cabins.  Not on all sailings, but a lot times I find the pricing on some sailings where a regular inside and sometime outside cabins are equal and or cheaper than solo cabins

As a teacher, it is limited and often your timeframe is higher pricing.  Doing a family reunion and wedding cruise with family in August and the solo pricing was more than I wanted to pay so sharing my cabin with my nephew for cheaper rate.

  9. While the majority of my tours are non Carnival, I will take a ship tour, especially if there's an extensive distance from the port.

In Belize I have cave tube and visited some of the ruins with local vendors.  But the year before wanted to visit Xunantunich which is less than a mile from the Guatemalan border.  While there are vendors who offer the tour for cruise guest, I felt with the port time on my cruise to opt with the ship tour.

The tour was great.  While there were three buses, they left at different times to space out between each other.  I was on the last bus that wasn't 100%.

Our bus was the very last to return to port.  Since it was a ship tour, no issues and everyone was relax as we headed for port.

At the tender dock there was two Carnival reps and security awaiting us.  Once we got on board the tender, the Carnival employees along with the signage they bring onshore.

We were about one hour after last tender.

It just depends on port and tour

  10. Will I cruise yes.  No offense but prior to this anyone who has traveled or even in daily contact have seem some nasty folks out there.  People who go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands, wipe their noses, don't co er a cough, etc.  On one cruise years ago, another passenger  and I had to get a crew member  because this other woman stuck her finger in two different  dressing to taste and walked  off.

I always take wipes and mini Lysol to wipe hotel and cabins down.  Keep anti bio wipes and gel on me.

Also the flu has killed more people in our country on a yearly basis than this virus.

I do feel for these folks in such a situation because of a few, all are being made to deal with it.

Did you have a completely private tour for 1? I have always found tour prices between operators on Roatan to be fairly standard, with a sliding scale  depending on number of people in the van. I agree for a tour the prices are reasonable.

The problem with Roatan is trying to just get transport from A to B and back. That is expensive unless you just take a shuttle to a regular tourist location.

Yes it was just me and no one else.  Didn't want to share a tour.  The pricing was under $100 for about five hours or so.

It was nice where some parts just stayed short period  and other longer.

For the people that have had great days with Rony...  can you please tell me what your tour consisted of?  We are going to have a 10 month old baby with us... so I'm trying to figure out what we should ask to do.

I'm a little concerned with the monkey/sloths being dirty/germy?  Did anyone get that vibe from them?

My tour was non animals.  I work as a veterinary technician and around animals, birds and other exotics all the time so not part of my tour.

I just wanted a feel and vibe of the island.  We stopped at various  viewpoints,  went to the beach, viewed local resorts and hotels suggested for extended vacation.   The highlights was visiting in Coxen hole a local artist and buying his wood carvings.   Also at one of the roadside stand purchased my mother and sister in law  a Maghoney salad bowl set.  Very nice heavy set  letter pricing and more items than ones in port area.  Also went to local supermarket for coffee alot cheaper than in the port and really great.  Last had lunch small local place.  Fish was great and love the hot sauce.

Also to point out I was solo and not charge an arm and leg for the tour.

Had a great time and plan to use him again in December.   While on this upcoming tour, more beach time, otherwise,  want to eat local, stop at supermarket and buy some more local art

  14.  Not a bad price.  But before agreeing,  I also have a deck plan so I can see location  of the cabin,  what's  near, will there be cabins above and below, etc.

On one sailing last year, the first offer location wasn't idea for me being under the theater  and I declined.

But less than two weeks later I received a better location offer

What I’ve learned to do, thanks to these boards, is have Indian food each night. On the first night tell your head waiter that you would like an Indian dish every night. So many of the cooks come from India, and feel pleased to cook you their foods! Each night is always something different and delicious! Plus, you can still order off the menu too! Win, Win!

So true!   Few years ago sailed with someone who is a vegetarian.   She loved the Indian dishes every evening.   She ordered an extra dish so the table can try.  So yummy!

Last September I would order the Indian  dish and just a piece of salmon.   When I told my waiter I love the Indian  dishes and spicy,  I got some of the best meals the remaining nights.

Depending on the ship, she also got Indian dishes at breakfast in MDR

  16. I sailed on the Valor in September and again in December last year.

On both sailing was verbally asked did I desire morning,  evening  or both.  All three were offered.

Since solo and with me not much,  requested just morning only with ice and daily activities in the evening.

The only difference was in December my cabin steward ask me to sign that I only wanted morning service and he noted ice in evenings.

If was in a full cabin with more than two and children,  would request twice a day.  Otherwise one time a day is fine.  Heck half the time I don't  make my bed up during the week and my ice machine is out, get spoiled on the ships

  17. ith me there are times not in the mood for MDR.  Often this happens when I had a long port day, example with Belize visited Xunantunich Mayan ruins which is right at the Guatemala border.   I had no desire to dress for MDR, put a tank top and shorts and headed to buffet.   Was it my best meal on board? No, but compared to what I do at home some days for meals, I didn't have to cook, clean, or wash dishes.  I also brought my Kindle and just relaxed and chatted with an employee working the area about Romania.

Did the same when there was a double movie I wanted to see.  Ate at the buffet and headed to watch  the movies.

Now about 10 years ago it was alot better.   One year ate in buffet every evening because it was that good.

Walking out the gate down the hill then back up it when we return is exactly what we can’t do😳
So we decided to just do Tabyana Beach since it is right by Infinity.  I really appreciate everyone’s input on this!

While you have to walk outside the fence to meet the private tours, they bring you back in the fence.  Been here several times always private tours.  The outside is not bad if rushing.  I'm a slightly chubby woman and take my time walking
