  1. Casino chick I don’t have that one, but I was getting both carnival and royal snail mail about twice a week and I haven’t gotten one since March 13 when I received one from Royal for the Odyssey .  I booked that one for January 2021. I thought that was far enough out.  Have a cruise booked for October that I hope goes. Not only because of the cruise, but that this craziness gets over quickly.  I’m not a stay at home person!  Our March 15 cruise was canceled 2 days before we were to leave, but I had canceled 2 days before that.  I’m sure many were already in Florida ready to cruise by the time it was canceled.

Yes your three wheel scooter will fit into your room.  Carnival's balcony and oceanview rooms fine.  The door is tight, your scooter needs to be less then 22".  My husbands GoGo 3 wheeler fits fine.  We do take the arms off when we bring it cruising so as to fit.  We move the table a bit, pull straight in then back it up against the sofa.  I've even had in a inside cabin.  Only then you need to have the beds put in to twins.  Leave them King in a balcony, this will give you the best floor space.

Thank you so much for the information!

  3. We booked a cruise on carnival Breeze quite awhile ago and have a regular cove balcony.  Since that time my husband now uses a scooter for his balance problems.  Has anyone used a 3 wheel scooter in a regular room?  How tight is it getting into the room?  Can it be turned around to drive back out?  This cruise is completely sold out now.

My husband used a rollator walker until recently and still has to occasionally.   He now has a mobility scooter.  The walker would not fit into the room. He can’t fold and get in without losing his balance.  It would have to sit in the hallway until I got there.  I’m concerned about the scooter getting into a regular room.  We have booked a regular room for January.  I much prefer the handicap room for the shower for him with the bars and no lip to get in. For me not so much because water gets everywhere.  There is still a need for some who use mobility scooters.

I blame the number of people using scooters these days for the decrease in available accessible rooms.

IMO, accessible rooms should be for those who actually need the features of the room -- the roll-in shower, the no-step bathroom/balcony, the safety rails in the bathroom, the space to maneuver around the room in a wheelchair, etc.

People who can walk around in their room on their own and only need the scooter to walk for longer distances around the ship, etc., should be required to book a regular room.  There is room to park the scooter in the seating area (you can ask the room steward to remove the coffee table, if needed).

Are the packing cubes washable?   May I ask: Do those of you who put your dirty laundry into the packing cubes then wash the packing cubes, or do you just reuse them on the next trip for clean clothes without washing them first?  I'm just so grossed out by the idea of dirty laundry shoved into a packing cube that then holds clean laundry.

I realize this is a me thing.  I have designated "clean laundry" baskets for clothes out of the dryer, and "dirty laundry" baskets lined up on my laundry room floor for sorting colours of dirty laundry before washing.  And never the twain shall meet.  But I'm just curious (and kinda icked out🤢), do you wash the packing cubes?:classic_blush:

I wash mine when I get home. I don’t use them to pack dirty clothes in either, but they have sat on those shelves in the cabin.  My dirty clothes are in a hamper until the last day and they go in a garbage bag or a compression bag to be washed at home.  I get grossed out when people say they leave their suitcase open under the bed and put their dirty clothes in it.  You can’t wash the inside of a suitcase very easily.

I love packing cubes.  I just unpack the cubes and put them on a shelf or in a drawer.  I usually take one or two of the cubes and hang those clothes up when I get there so if there are any wrinkles they fall out by the time we wear them.  Definitely hang my dress clothes. Shorts and t shirts can stay in the cubes until needed.

I really don’t like to wear wrinkled clothes, so I have a tiny spray bottle that I fill with fabric softener at home and add water when I get there.  Spritzing and smoothing does the job for me.

I just checked and my offer is the same as yours.  I don’t think I have ever seen free play offered by Royal before.  Is this something new?  I get this with Carnival but not Royal.  I hope this isn’t a 5 day cruise because it is too far for us to drive to any port for 5 days.

My bad; was looking at 2018 schedule :classic_sad:

Ketchikan first ships of the 2019 season:

         5/1   Star Princess

5/4   Carnival Legend (although you indicate 5/6)

         5/6   Island Princess

5/9   HAL Eurodam & Nieuw Statendam

5/10 HAL Maasdam, Oosterdam, Westerdam; Norwegian Bliss  (could be 9,000+ pax that, but ships probably stagger their port times)

On 5/31 6 ships will visit Ketchikan with potentially 14,000 pax.  That appears to be the largest # of daily pax for the whole season--maybe ships don't sail full that early.

I just meant the cruise leaves May 6. Not in Ketchikan until May 12.
