  1. Anyone have experience with future cruise credit?  My wife and I were supposed to cruise this June but we are expecting our first child this October, so we had to cancel. They graciously gave our deposit back as a future cruise credit to be used within 2 years. Now do you have to book and sail within 2 years?  Or only book within 2 years?  I called royal and they had differing stories so I was curious on personal experience on this.

  2. My wife is pregnant and we are traveling on the carnival freedom mid April. We will be traveling to key west, Nassau and Freeport. Do these ports (in the Bahamas in particular) have places near port that you can walk to and explore?  We didn’t want to do anything too adventurous so any ideas would be great!

Its not, unless the passport is less than 1 year old at the time of the name change.

To OP - A passport or birth certificate with previous name + Drivers License + Marriage certificate (bridging document) is what is needed.

Thank you!  The lady at carnival made it sound like we could change the passenger name to her maiden name and then just passport would be fine. Relayed that to the wife, and she wasn’t having any of it. I already know not to argue with a pregnant woman!

You can pay for expedited passport service or regular passport renewal would be 6 weeks. Check US State Dept website for details.

I only use use my passport so that is my frame of reference.

    Congrats on your good news!!!

Thanks!  we've been trying and of course she gets pregnant right after I book a cruise to the ABC islands from our favorite port of san juan.  The whole government shutdown has me leery about that, especially because they take the old passport when you apply for the new one.

  5. What type of documentation does my wife need to cruise?  We were married last June, she changed her name and has a new ID with that name.  Her passport is in her maiden name (was going to update it before our cruise this June but surprise, she's pregnant so we bumped it up to april) as is her birth certificate (obviously).  What does she need to bring to cruise?

What with drivers  off cruise ships renting cars & driving on unfamiliar  roads & driving rules , I would question the safety of riding in a golf cart on a road meant for cars & trucks . JMVHO:classic_blink:

Ehh no biggie.  We did the mad max tour in st. kitts and felt safe the entire time.  Loads of fun and would do again in a heartbeat!

  7. Since you've done this before...any reason that you can't do it on your own

Unfortunately, I’m a geography major and not a history major:o. Sure I could find my way around, but I wouldn’t know all of the cool stories and history behind what I’m seeing.

  8. We will be staying in OSJ a couple nights before our cruise and wanted to do a walking tour of OSJ. Any suggestions? Last time there I took the ARCH Tours with karen. I sent her an email with no response. Any suggestions would be great!

  9. How was your day with Calabaza? We are in port from 9-6 and they adjusted their sail time to 9:30 but that only gives us 15 mins to get to the meeting spot. Did you have any problems with your times? Their web videos look amazing. Thanks.

They meet you at the port and drive to where the catamarans are. It is a hike from where the ship is docked to the port area. There are vans that go back and forth to transport cruise passengers, however.

  10. Soooooooooo, when old dead threads are brought back to life, people tend to not look at the dates (ahem) and take the information as current and valid. Lots change in over a year and a half time.

No. Not really. If you actually read the responses you would notice many said Royston and grey tours. Same rings true today.
