  1. I have just received this for the 18th July sailing, looks like their may be a bit of a problem.

Thank you for booking a Disney Magic at Sea sailing with Disney Cruise Line

As you may be aware, many of the UK government’s COVID-19 restrictions were expected to end on June 21, but have now been extended until at least July 19. Among these restrictions is capping the number of passengers able to board cruise ships at 1,000 people or 50% of the ship’s capacity. Unfortunately, your sailing currently exceeds this limit.

We are currently offering a limited number of Guests* the opportunity to change their sail date and receive a 50% discount on the voyage fare of a future 2-, 3-, or 4-night Disney Cruise Line sailing taken on or before December 31, 2022, or cancel their sailing and receive a full refund.

This offer is only available to Guests on the July 18, 2021, sailing. Current availability on Disney Magic at Sea sailings from Liverpool is limited; however, there is availability out of the other UK ports should you wish to sail this summer close to home.  There are also 3- or 4-night sailings out of Port Canaveral, Florida or Miami, Florida available.

If you are interested in selecting an alternate sail date or cancelling your booking and receiving a full refund, we ask that you contact us at 0800-171-2317 by Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

    Sincerely,

    The Cast and Crew

    Disney Cruise Line

*This offer is only available to a limited number of Guests in excess of the government-imposed 1,000 maximum on the Disney Magic July 18, 2021 sailing. The 50% discount applies to voyage fare and non-commissionable fare, is applied to each individual Guest, and is non-transferable. Gratuities, Taxes, Fees, onboard experiences and Port Adventures are not eligible. Guests cannot change their reservation back to the original sail date after taking advantage of this offer. The discount is not applicable to Disney Magic July 15, 2021 or July 18, 2021 sailings. Standard prevailing rates apply and Guests are responsible for any balance due after the offer has been applied. Any refunds due will be processed as a normal course of business. Standard cancellation policies and terms and conditions apply to future sailings.

  2. I have never been on a cruise with Disney before, we have been on a good number of Celebrity and are Diamond members with Royal Caribbean.

I called Disney today to find out how much a trip would be on the 18 July from Liverpool. The price quoted was £714.18 for an inside guarantee for 2 adults, which I accepted and booked.

I am unsure if we got any form of discount with this as we are DVC members but the price did not seem too astronomical.

  3. Hello,

I don't follow these boards a great deal.

We live in the UK but I booked through the international office in USD I have a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale on the 8th August with Celebrity. We then have a further two cruises back to back after this one with Royal Caribbean.

I notice already our very expensive business class flights are not actually being sold, the one that they would likely put us on would mean arriving a day late and return home a day late too. This would not be possible for me with work.

It will be 90 days until the cruise tomorrow so I need to make the final payment, I notice that Grand Cayman is closing until September, this is one of the ports of call. Can anyone advise what I should do, I would prefer a refund though they are none refundable cruises and I simply do not know when I will have the time again along with my wife to take 3 weeks again. Thanks

  5. I am due next April to go on a 5 night cruise  from Miami with Royal Caribbean, after the final night I will have reached Diamond level in the Crown and Anchor society.I get off the Ship on the Friday morning.

The following day, Saturday I am getting on a Celebrity Cruise, also from Miami, will I get the Elite tier of benefits ?

  6. I agree too, I booked a cruise from San Juan for August is was more expensive with the half price second passenger thing than without the discount as the price of the first passenger had not been inflated.

Sick of the UK ripoff too, I just booked a cruise from venice for October, it was over £600 ($900) more on the uk website than the French one. It would not allow me to book using a uk credit card so I rang up, they tried to get me to ring the rip off UK centre instead. I said I wanted to pay in euros and they had to allow me to book using the french prices due to EU law. The thing is most UK guests wont realise their are different prices elsewhere. The USA website tends to be cheaper too and I have paid in dollars before because of this too.

  7. It would have been nice if the black family who came to our table had requested to eat alone last week on Allure of the seas.

Rather than upon arrival at the table turning round to the waiter who escorted them and infront of my wife and I and the other couple at the table and saying "I told you we did not want to be at a table with white folks" then demanded another table before marching off with the waiter.

  8. We are looking at booking the Getaway Haven penthouse for Aug 2015 from miami and what we paid for a studio and mini suite on the epic in Europe in 2012 we can get a Haven suite for much less. Now to find cheap flights :)

You have a whole bunch of cheap transatlantic flights out of Ireland, we are going there on Sunday and staying for 3 nights in Dublin for a mini break before flying on to the USA, with the Air passenger Duty that has to be paid from the UK our flights ended up been about £700 less than had we flown from Manchester.

  9. The market for cruises in Florida is saturated for this time of the year, hence price falls and one of the reasons Allure of the Seas will be in Europe this time next year and replaced with a smaller ship in port everglades, reducing the number of beds therefore increasing demand as supply will be more limited.

My wife and I are flying from England international business class (flat bed seats)and staying in a Haven suite on Getaway for less money than an identical suite would cost on the sister ship Breakaway in Europe without any flights. The actual suite was on fact over 2.5 times more expensive, clearly this shows there is room for more capacity in one market and less in another at that time of year.

  10. Because a car has an alarm when the window is smashed that attracts the attention of others who are perhaps more honest, they also would have to be pretty darn good to actually take a modern day car these days even if they do get into it.

A pathetic little lock which can be broken in seconds with no noise or alarm going off with a cheap pair of pliers on the other hand is a little different. If anything it attracts a thief as one with a lock on says it must have something worth taking in it.

  11. Why bother, you think a thief cannot get past a crappy little suitcase lock if they want to be in it. A stanley knife will open any canvass type suitcase and a 2lb hammer for a plastic type in seconds if someone really wants to. On the other hand a thief could simply walk away with the whole suitcase and open at their leisure. Never keep anything of significant value in your suitcase is the answer.

  12. I don't think the drink prices are high. At least not for US sailings. They are comparable to what we pay in a restaurant. I think you guys have it worse though with the VAT. I can see how that would be very expensive.

There is never any VAT sales tax or other types of duties charged on drinks at sea with the exception of cruises leaving a spanish port as far as I believe, its why they have duty free shops on board, every penny above cost is in the cruise companies pocket. Personally I find cruise ship drinks prices to be fair or if anything a little cheap, the last thing they want to do for me is make it so cheap the place becomes a floating bar of drunks.

  13. The only Med destination I would consider in winter are the canaries. I personally would not consider a cruise there at that time of year. I will be in Tenerife for christmas, at that time of the year on the south of the island it tends to be in the mid 70s during the day. Anywhere else in the med tends to be significantly colder. They really are the only winter sun destination in Europe and the reason why the majority of cruise lines move their ships to the caribbean in the winter. They certainly don't move them to the caribbean for revenue as cruises tend to be priced significantly higher in the Med at any point of the year with good weather.

  14. I would so rather have received the Bermuda offer instead of the getaway offer for August 9th which I booked. Nice itinerary but a hassle as now we need air and hotel. So much for free cruise, it keeps adding up!

Hmm, August 9th, that date must have been very light on bookings, price drops for cash bookings were very large in the UK market but much smaller in the domestic US market.

  15. Why not stuff you face with three, maybe four meals. Whilst at it why not ask for a few buckets full of cola to wash it down with to maximise the value of the soft drinks package too. Pure gluttony.

  16. Not trying to be condescending here, but trip insurance is one of the worst value things one can purchase. It's pretty much throwing money away unless you have a high chance of using it.

I can only think of three scenarios where it makes sense to purchase trip insurance:

    1) You are living on a tight budget, and the money you lose by not being able to go would be so financially devastating that you couldn't travel again for a long time.

    2) You are old or in poor health, and there is a fair chance that something will change for the worse between now and your trip.

    3) You have a family member who is old or in poor health, and there is a fair chance you will have to attend their funeral or final details, and have to cancel the trip.

Otherwise, it's a complete waste of money, yet I see many upper-middle class families waste their money on this garbage.

Someone please explain to me why they bother.

Err, because I will be in a foreign country and if I have an accident or become ill I still want to own my house when I have recovered. This is especially true when I visit the USA.
