Yeah unless you spend about at least $2,000 -$3,000 on a 7 night cruise your discount from Casino Royale won't be that great.. I don't know why they even bother sending those offers you got to people.. It just gives false hope.. The "casino rates" are basically nothing.. You need to reach Prime to get any good discounts.. at that level they start sending full comped cruises and discounts of between $500-$1000 off cruises.. I wish Club Royale was more transparent but they seem to try to play these silly games offering low level gamblers "casino Rates" and I realize that to some people spending $400 in the casino is a lot but its really not in the gambling world. Anyway just my opinion on the situation..

The only correction I will make to this post is that it goes by how much you wager  not how much you spend. There is a difference. Gotten many comped cruises from Royal, only having to pay port fees and taxes as a prime.

Speaking of Ken Rush - he was the cruise director on our very 1st RCCL cruise!  He set the bar for all of our Cruise directors. And he hosted the horse races!

Ken is usually the sail out cruise director for most new RC ships. He is OK but sometimes he seems to full of himself to be a fun cruise director IMHO.

We had the pleasure of owning a horse on the Grandeur of the Seas back in the late 1990's.  The trip was shortly after we enjoyed a week in New Orleans just after Marti Gras so we appropriately named it Boudreaux's Bust or something like that (as I recall), dressed it up in New Orleans regalia and had a blast for the week.  Also as I recall, the horse was appropriately named, as it came in toward the end of the pack but was dressed the wonderfully, LOL.  It would be great to see it come back.

Ken Rush are you reading these?

The cocktail hours are either 4:30 to 8 or 5:00 to 8:30 with extremely few exceptions.

The bartenders swipe your SeaPass card when you get a drink. The computer knows both what time it is and how many drinks you have obtained.

All bars that honor the vouchers (there are a few that don’t) follow the Diamond Drink List.

If you tip good they forget to swipe your card.

We were recently on Adventure 12 day cruise (great, fun time) and decided to try Johnny Rockets on a Sea Day.  We have enjoyed the fun atmosphere and service in the past.  Never thought the "up-charge" was too much.   Well - our bill was $29.50 for 2 people.  No Happy greetings or dances;  2 burgers that were at best, "OK"; A basket of onion rings that were mostly all breading,  French Fries that were barely fast food quality; 1 vanilla pop and glass of ship water;  and 1 milk shake (we use to get a free one with Diamond status).  I  was surprised as I do not remember anywhere close to $20 before.   Really - shouldn't the burgers be more special and the fries hand cut for that price?  Just want to say we won't be returning to Johnny Rockets - and to share with others that it is NOT worth the price.

You can get hotdogs, burgers, fries and sometimes onion rings in the windjammer. The only thing Rockets is good for is their free breakfast. If you like the entertainment at rockets just watch some of the people in the windjammer. They are just as entertaining LOL.

  6. On our first and second cruises on the Voyager they had horse racing on the pool deck. There was a mat laid out for 6 horses, and your horse moved along the mat to the finish line by a roll of dice in a cage. You could pre wager which horse would win. At the end the horses were auctioned off to the highest bidder. Six horses were auctioned off. We bet 100.00 $ for our horse. You get to dress your horse up, you could take him to dinner in the main dining room, collect stuff from fellow passengers to attach to you horse etc. On the last sea day the six horses had their final race. Everyone at the pool could wager as many 2.00 $ bets as they wanted on the winner (no place or show bets). After the race was won the winning horse got the money that was collected at the auction for all 6 horses. Other betters collected winnings from the monies collected in the normal betting with a rake from Royal. This was a really cool thing at the pool. It topped the bellyflop , and sexiest man,or hairiest chest contest. Bring it back Royal

We just got back and I believe Captain Jack's was an extra charge. The Snack Shack was included. We had food from the Shack and it was very good. This didn't surprise us though since food on the island was great when we were there in January as well. It's just burgers or chicken sandwiches in our case, but it was better than I expected!

All the food on the Island comes from off the ship. Same burgers, hot dogs chicken, salad that you get in the Windjammer.

Hi-Husband and I are on the Allure in October. This will be our first time on Oasis class ships. We are on deck ten in a boardwalk balcony with great view of the AQ. Any tips, recommendations etc? We will have my time dining so wondering if there is an assigned dining room for MTD people?

Does the solarium get very crowded?  What is your favorite drinking venue?

    Thanks!

MTD is in the Icon dining room. Yes the Solarium gets busy. Go early on sea days. My favorite drink venues are the Champange  Bar and Boleros. Schooner bar is also good.

Well good thing I don't need a job.

Your idea of customer service and hospitality pretty much guarantees you would never be in such a position.

Your entire post is basically putting employees above the customer. That's comical. Utterly ridiculous actually.

Disney put out a fantastic book "Be Our Guest" and has classes as well.  You should get a clue about how hospitality works. It would be helpful.

You have to remember employees are customers also.

We've been to Cozumel at least 5 times and every single time they have dogs sniffing for agricultural products as you enter the port shopping area from the ship. Think same place you get your ID checked to go back to the ship. I've also seen multiple youtube videos showing the same.   There's also always trash cans full of fruit and other non-commercial wrapped food products right there.

What we haven't seen in 27 cruises is people arrested or cabins being searched or guarded.

I have seen dogs in many ports going off the ship and coming back on. I am not saying the OP didn't have his room inspected, I am saying I have never seen it happen myself, where they go into your room and make you stand outside and accuse you of having contraband and then leave.

Since I have NEVER heard of this happening to anyone else, ever, and I have been on a $hitload of cruises, I can hardly believe your cabin steward, "This happens every week."

Or maybe it only happens on the Allure.  I haven't been on the Allure in a few years.

Been on 35+ cruises and never have seen this. I have never done a back to back, so maybe this is when it occurs and that is why it is news to me

There is a RFID chip in the base of the cup.  When first used the cup gets activated and expires 10-14 days later.

So I could give the cup to someone who is boarding the ship as I am getting off and it would work for their cruise. Is that a correct assumption?

Lobster used to be on an entree called "The Fisherman's Plate", but my last cruise it simply said "Lobster". It's been pretty good. There is also a whole lobster available for a rather substantial extra charge (I don't remember for sure -- maybe $30 or so), but i've never tried it.  Shrimp cocktail has been available every night and is very good IMO. Last I heard lobster was not available on cruises less than 7 days, but others might know for sure.

I have eaten shrimp larger then the free lobster they serve. Also I am not a spiny lobster eater. Give me a cold water lobster anytime as I find the meat more firm.
