  1. Are you arriving at CDG and going to Marseille or is your journey in the opposite direction? If you're flying out of Orly I would be VERY nervous of your timescale. Earlier this week, we queued for over an hour just to get to the check-in desk as the self-service machines weren't working properly.

Also, not only do you have to take into account change of terminal, but have you checked that your flights are in and out of the same airport?

Some regional flights e.g.to and from Marseille use Orly Airport which is 40 kilometres from Roissy CDG where international flights arrive/leave.

  2. The OP is in France so I don't think the California/US/Australia info applies.

To the OP- I would use doubled zip locking plastic bags in small size and pack it in yet another bag in your checked luggage. I wouldn't put it in carry on if you are flying.

Sand is amazing in white, pink, black and all kinds of colors. Enjoy. :)

i have absolutely no intention of bringing back sand, I was just extremely curious as to WHY anyone would bring sand home!:D

  3. So what does the French woman wear to keep the sun out? ( not at the beach)

if not at the beach, then just some decent sunglasses and not always at the beach. That's why I' m finding it difficult looking for something that doesn't look 'beachy' for our cruise which will be in equatorial waters.

I saw your earlier post re hats in Paris & Rome. I never wear a hat in the summer, just sunglasses, but if your husband is thinning on top(!) he might consider a Panama hat. Many stylish French and Italian gentlemen wear them and he wouldn't look like a tourist!

Actually I think I've probably answered my own question and will get myself a Panama

  4. If you have a Costco nearby, check there. Ours has some nice looking ones that supposedly have some UV protection treatment. They pack perfectly flat and take up virtually no room.

We don't have Costco in France:)

  5. I burn easily so need to wear a hat in strong sunlight. Can anyone recommend a packable hat which will look good when unpacked? I'm thinking perhaps I'll get a packable Panama hat. A baseball cap is out of the question.

  6. I've been following this thread with interest. Why do you need to have different items of clothing just because you're on a cruise? The city I live in has thousands of tourists/visitors each year, including cruise ships, and the cruisers are all immediately identifiable by their uniform of trainers/sports shoes and fanny packs. If you were visitng a different city in your own country, would you wear different clothes - allowing for different weather - from what you'd normally wear to go out and about at home?

    Just wondering!
