  1. I so want to cruise the Caribbean, I can afford it ok, it's the 8 hours on an plane I just can't get my head round. Arriving at airport 3 hours take off, at least an hour at the other end before you see your cabin. I can never sleep other than in a bed. The return journey is worse not taking off until late evening. Am I destined for the med for ever and ever? Recently read a young mother asking ?'s about taking a toddler, horrified me sitting next to a crying baby for any length of time. My honeymoon entailed a late night flight home from Spain, only short flight but I missed a whole night sleep. 35 years ago, still remember it like yesterday (the lack of dleep) :(

  2. Hello all, what news of providing tea and coffee making facilities in the cabins?

Please don't reply saying you can order it. Not the same and not going with Cunard again until...

  3. Evening all, on Britannia 9 Oct and want to book the Limelight club but don't want to miss out on the pomp of the black tie nights. Have looked everywhere but can't find which nights, I know there are 3 black tie nights but which?

While I'm here, any know what the ballroom dancing is like on board? Love it love it :)

  4. Great picture Kevin, looks a fun place to be! going on Britannia this Autumn hopefully, purely for the dancing. Went on Queen Victoria and whilst the ballroom is beautiful the evening's were lacklustre with only about 5 couples on the floor, great for space but not much of a laugh. Music was a bit dull. Unless is was gala night when you couldn't get on the floor with bopbop music.

It was very strange why few bothered with the ballroom, no atmosphere with such few people, there were a few single ladies dotted around taken care of by the resident dancers. I think the band even got bored. Only went on Cunard because of the dancing but once was enough especially because no tea facilities in the cabin

  5. Just seen Mom's reply so rude not to comment further. Was about to book Britannia and I'm swayed against by the very low 53% loved it. Can't ignore it, especially when Viking cruises get over 90% love it.

It's what this website is for, Isn't it?

  6. On Queen Victoria recently and couldn't believe no tea and coffee facilities in the cabin. Pathetic I know but won't be going with Cunard again, reverting to P&O.

Yes I know there is room service and can order it in advance, but really, how absurd?

Even rubbish B&B's provide a kettle. Their reason? fire hazard.

  7. On the last night of my last cruise with P&O, I learnt that you can order wine prior to dinner on the telephone or at a bar. This was good due to the wine waiter being very late in visiting the tables, often near the end of the main course which is practically pointless and hugely frustrating. I assume similar is possible on Cunard?

On a different note. Car parking on the dock at 90 pound is a bit hefty, anyone use Parkupmystreet and finish with a taxi? I'm going to risk it :)

  8. Hi,Please put my mind at rest? Just booked Queen Victoria, first time on Cunard. Read somewhere your bottle of wine isn't allowed on your table, it is whisked away out of sight. They tried to do this on P&O but I won! But alas it become a farce with the waiter sneaking up behind me and grabbing my bottle and forever topping my glass up, which I hated. I can do it myself thank you, hate having a continuity full glass.

So, is it true? Do I really have to make a scene again? Really don't like to. By the way, red wine so not in a chiller :)

  9. I say, just seen on twitter someone has posted, me thinks it was P&O, a picture of the atrium.

It does indeed look rather splendid :)

Why on earth doesn't their website show such splendor?

I understand the dance floor is at the bottom of the stairs, this is where I will be swinging mylegs Wednesday onwards, make an spectical of myself, won't be as impressive as the atrium :D

You best keep away, looks like only room for me

  10. Never knew about Alton towers, is it just the one weekend? I'm useless at finding places, I tried Pakefield last year, just as they had cancelled - supposed to be on next year though. I could find no where else in the entire country for a weekend dancing. Thought it would be more popular with Strictly doing well. Going to miss Brucie and not too excited re his replacement.

  11. Will do David. On the same theme, I've just been looking on P&O web site and can't find much info regarding the bars and live music, do any of the bars have a dance floor at all? Perhaps not ballroom, may by just either side of the hand bags! As you do, or used to do

  12. Wow, thank you all for your replies :)

I will go on Cunard one day, just for the dancing, I could afford the ticket but not the onboard expenses!

Looks like a catch 22, small floors equals few dancers, they won't do larger floors until more dancers, bit like a sequence dance, going round and round. I like jive and rock and roll but can never stay up late enough to see if the night clubs put anything old enough :) dear me, never happy are we?

Been on Oriana and could just fit in a turn before the corners, I blame the silly wine waiter for filling my wine glass up every two minutes! Something that I actually hated.

  13. Thanks for your quick reply Rich, why do they take it away, assuming it's red , no cooler needed, is it a rule, no bottles on table? I remember on my last cruise it used to be almost pudding time before the wine arrived, I'm no alcholic but it made me slightly anxious for a drink !

  14. Hello all, on Ventura soon and looking on P&O website, I'm struggling to find a dance floor bigger enough for me to swing my legs! Is it just the tiny one at the bottom of the stairs in the lobby, rather small for 3000 passengers. Is there any ballroom dancing? Thank you

  15. Hello everybody, please tell me I've read all this wrong? Do they take the bottle away? Why? Please don't say health and safety, if you do I will cancel jolly on Ventura week after next ! Been on a couple of cruises before and have to say I got a real hang up with the waiters filling my glass, I just hate a glass filled up to the brim.... just me I know, but the waiter turned it into a game, he would sneak up from behind and laugh while he topped the glass up, I used to get seriously annoyed by this. I used to have to place my hand on top of the glass to stop them doing it.

At least the bottle was left on the table, where do they take them??
