  1. As one who has suffered, here is my suggestion. If you buy from the primary source such as Kroger, Verizon, Lowes etc. those are ok to use. The secondary market is those who have purchased gift cards to resell and are chancy at best. Usually, they guarantee values for 14 to 30 days max. Ebay is a terrible place to buy any gift cards. If you use them within the 30(?) days you buy them , Ebay will help if there are any problems. . Paypal never helps on gift cards. What I am getting at is to check them immediately when you get them and use them ASAP. If not, the original purchaser may have recorded the numbers and pin and then they can use the cards or pass them onto a friend to use. You are then out the $$$ you paid with little chance of getting anything back. I know !!

  2. Logic: I am on vacation and late at nite, I like to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Have glasses that I can shine on a book to read. Hate to get up to go to a bar and get a soda. Room service, the rest of family is sound a sleep and do not want to waken them when soda is delivered. And yes, it is a convenience thing as the bars do not give cans on the soda package, only cups that hold a little or they slosh over the side causing a mess. Still can't believe that any ship these days does not have a fridge.

  3. I ordered the soda package for all of us on our Fascination cruise. I assume that the Sign and Sail Card will have the soda stickers on when we sign in. I also ordered extra soda to be in all our rooms. Since there are no refrigerators on the ship, will the Cabin Steward put them on ice for us before we get to the rooms?

  4. OP, something seems off in your post. If you paid for a transfer, there will be a trail somewhere that would show what you paid for ?? Should be easy to find on your booking and or your contract copy, online. $107 for taxi Houston to Galveston, total of approximately 49 miles, is one heck of a bargain!! 5 passengers in a taxi with luggage for a 5 or 7 day cruise must have been a very bad ride.

  5. I prepay everything asap. I even try to prepay the excursions direct. I have kept the cruise a secret this year so I have paid for St Marteen, Bernards ...St Thomas Brendas Tours And Thenford Grey in St. Lucia. Still trying to prepay The Boatyard in Barbados as they are not comfortable prepaying the $20 per person and St Lucia? . Since there are 5 ports, too much cash to carry for 11 people, and credit cards carry a % out of the states as well as fraud problems.

  6. I have to agree with SCOTSGAL, the MDR meal on Thanksgiving was probably one of the worst decision we made. 8 cruises on Tday and NCL and Carnival, Buffet was always great. Having fresh carved Turkey with choice of dark or white meat was the best. MDR seemed like slooowww never gonna get it so we ate there and then went to the buffet the first cruise. Haven't regretted it yet.

  7. I too am keeping our cruise on the Fascination over Thanksgiving a family secret. I paid our TA $$ here and there as I had it starting in January of 2016. Cruise was paid in full in eleven months with $$ from Ebay sales. I am working on paying for excursions directly with the different port vendors. So far, I have paid for Bernards in St Marteen, Brenda's Fun Tours in St Thomas, and Thenford Grey in St Kiits. It has not been easy getting them to understand that the way I am doing this is to keep the secret but also as the cruise is a 5 port cruise and no way will I carry that much cash (11 people), but also that the extra credit card charge is expensive as well as a great way for unscrupulous vendors to charge your credit cards more later and they may also pass the numbers to someone else. Happened to me on a cruise in 2005. Still trying to find someone in Barbados ( The Boatyard) and St Lucia.

  8. Our family has turned into cruising freaks, mostly because of DISNEY cruiseline. I took my family on Carnival and NCL before the grandkids came along. The next 11 cruises, no family as they did not want to go. Five years later and 5 grandkids, I used them to get the parents to go on a Disney cruise. Six cruises in six years on Disney cruises they became cruise crazy. After the sixth cruise, we tried NCL and Carnival due to $$. Still cannot compare any other with Disney, the kids were stunned when we were announced as they mentioned all three family names when we boarded on Disney. Service was FANTASTIC, on all the Disney cruises. The only bad thing was all dining was either early or late. Casino, none so I saved a ton.

  9. Since my wife can't sleep with intermittent noise, we always carry an electric noise machine. Works great. However, the first night on a cruise, the dang thing stopped working. Two hours of listening to toss and turn and griping! Had a brilliant idea. The cell phone search found an APP ! 20 minutes later, nice peaceful snore and then I could go back to sleep. Now, we just use the cell, less to pack
