  1. Drink of the day is $8 plus 18% gratuity

Martini of the day is$9.75 plus gratuity

They also sell a 10 drink card for $79. Good deal for more expensive drinks or wine, $12 or under; coladas, martinis, B52s, etc. Had a Mango Lava Flow today...yum. They were advertising Pineapple Lava flows, looked good. I like Miami Vice too.

Yay! So happy to hear it is $79. I heard that on some sailings it was getting close to $100.

Do you know if they add the gratuity on top of the drink card price? There have been some accounts of it being adding and others that it was included. I remember it being included 2 Years ago on another ship.

  2. We loved this lush, volcanic island and saw much of the interior on our bus tour through RCL. We headed south along the coastline to St. Pierre, the former capital and major port city which was destroyed by fire following an eruption of Mt. Pelle in the early 1900's. We visited a museum in that city as well as a few sites then headed to a gorgeous rum distillery on the slopes of Mt. Pelle. The rum is made from sugar cane grown in that volcanically enriched soil, so it is something special. From there we headed into the center of the island and learn about how the Jesuit missionaries lined the route with a certain type palm tree, the Traveller's Palm. We visited the Balata Church which is a smaller scale replica of Sacre Coeur in Paris, offering beautiful views of the city below. The city of Fort de France is quite pretty and there are two notable buildings you can visit for free: Scholecher Library and St. Louis Cathedral which we visited on our own. Also easy to find is the city park with a headless statue of Empress Josephine (Napolean's wife) who is a very controversial native of Martinique having to do with re-instituting slavery I believe. This port impressed us as a regular city, not a tourism-created place, and seemed a more vibrant economy than many ports.

Was your bus tour the 7-hour long highlights/best of your offered by RCCL?

I’m thinking about booking that one.

  3. Thanks! I realize the gratuity (if charged) is charged on the card but am I looking at drinks before or after gratuity for the $13 limit which I may then pay an up charge on or get changed again in total.

The $13 price is the list price of the drink in the menu so that would be considered before gratuity bc if someone walks up and orders that drink at $13 without a card, they would put gratuity on top.

  4. It seems..and I don’t know if I’m observing correctly...that on newer bigger ships the card is more money and they add the gratuity..but on smaller older ships they offer the card cheaper and don’t charge gratuity. However my second time purchasing it was on Liberty, 2 yeats ago. It was around $65 and no gratuity was charged.

  5. Just got off the Oct. 1st sailing on Oasis today. We bought the drink card on day 4. 18% was added to the asking price of $79. We asked the bartender at the Trellis bar what would happen if we wanted a $15 drink and he said to just ask the bartender to put a cheaper brand alcohol in the drink. We tried doing just that at Boleros and it worked.

  6. On liberty the drink card was on day 4...79.00 plus gratuity of 18%. the drinks of the day were cheaper like 9.00

I think they were like 2 or 2.50 cheaper the signs would say

Good to know. Are they still bottled wine specials? They used to have some bottles for $18 or $20 at vintages or whatever it was called. Still pricey but better than what's on the menu in the dining areas.

  7. Drinks of the day are no longer the less expensive drink they used to be.

2 years ago drinks of the day were up to $12 with the gratuity depending on how fancy and how big. Even with the gratuity , it works out to $9.30 per drink all in. Plus you can get premium whiskies and such with the drink card. They run high as well.

The drink card has definitely gone up I remember it being lower 2 Years ago.

Plus for some it is a bonus to keep track of spending in a way besides checking the Tv all the time LOL

  8. The drink package also includes fresh squeezed orange juice.

Although on Grandeur in August, the fresh squeezed OJ was rather sour.

Did they have the drink card on Grandeur in august? I'm going on Grandeur in a month and I'm hoping for it. It's a great value for the hubby and I to share. I was able to getting fancy drinks with it also last time.
