Yes, you can get right back off, and many people do. You will need passports though. Use the people mover to get back to Piazzale Roma and then go right across the square and get water bus tickets. If you just want an overview you can do a circular route by way of Tronchetto and back up the Grand Canal to PR then back on the people mover to the ship. If you want to get off at San Marco get the fast water bus that only has a few stops.
Or you can just walk around the area near the station (the Jewish Ghetto is close to there) and drink in the ambience of the city.

Ask for a quote from a US TA and you will probably be surprised at how much you can save.

But, are they all not lifestyle choices? I don't see LGBT in that light. So, I see it as a positive.
-
Could it be that LGBT is now so normal, so mainstream, that such meets are no longer deemed necessary?
-
Gosh, there sure are some demanding people about.
I expect clean, really clean, but I wouldn't set them up to fail. Seriously, who would look for a make up spot on the bottom of a trash bin? Maybe on a deep clean, but not daily, because it isn't likely it would happen normally.
-
So, they pay more tax, is that a bad thing? I agree with the poster above, they need to suck it up.
-
It is the Redentore festival I expect. A pontoon bridge is put across the canals from Guideca. it is there for 24 hours so would obviously preclude any large ship traffic on that stretch. It is the same date every year though.
-
We are booked to go shortly and this has put a real dampener on the trip.
-
I agree too. Just because something has happened for a long time doesn't make it right in 2014. Pay the going rate, and let cruisers genuinely reward good service personally.
-
Who decides/ and using what criteria whether you have a good enough reason to remove them?
-
Although we are in port in SPB for 2 days we think we may want to stay onboard for one day and enjoy the quiet ship.
Does anyone recommend a tour company that does a one day tour?

I have never cruised with Thompson (but we loved Ocean Village) but I do know a millionaire who regularly cruises with them and loves it. We like balcony cabins and there don't seem to be that many on a lot of Thompson ships, if we found an itinerary we liked and a suitable cabin we would definitely give them a try.

Seems to me someone is getting a drink their package does not include.
That doesn't make it theft though. I doubt even Royal cares who actually drinks which drink as long as both have been paid for under a package.
-
We use that site and another one to check prices and cabins. We get a daily email.
-
Bottled still and sparkling water is included in the Replenish and Ultimate packages. Bottled still water is also included in the Premium package.
So, the poster said he would drink a coke ( from his daughters soda package) and she would have bottled water (from his Replenish package) therefore, both drinks have been paid for and they are just being redistributed. I doubt that anyone would see that as theft.
-
Is it included in the Royal Replenish?
-
How is that theft when both types of drink are covered under the packages the family have between them? It is re distribution.
-
We have never requested them be removed, as we have never had an issue with the service, but I am almost sure I read on a tipping thread that you could not do it.
-
They are still classed as gratuities (gifts) and I believe they can be removed daily. I think that would give the OP peace of mind, doesn't mean he will remove them.
I don't believe that is the case.
-
I thought once they had been pre paid that was it.
I know you can have the daily charges removed but if you pre pay to do ATD that is not the case as far as I am aware.

If you are travelling from close to home with no weight restrictions do you take stuff like cushions and throws for your balcony?
I thought I may take a couple of cushions and lightweight fleece throws for comfort and if the breeze is cool in the evenings? Maybe a cloth ( that would be pegged down) for the balcony table too?
-
I know it is a hard question but are we likely to see much sunshine in the Baltics in August?
-
I hope this is not fleet wide or we won't be buying the package.

Tommy, the limit is for the ship as well. It is the same as Southampton departures. Although you can take lots of luggage.
No one has reported being stopped, of course that does not say it has not happened.

They don't weigh luggage though at Southampton do they?

Heck, it isn't a fun job at home doing for your own family, how much worse is it for strangers?
And yes, it is their job, but they are still human and deserving of respect and understanding that, like the rest of us, they may miss something, make a mistake or be having an off day.
Seriously, anyone deliberately putting make up on the underside of a trash can to catch out their steward is taking things way too far.
