indiana71,
I love the idea of adding straps to the dress. I can't wait to see it on.
cat_in_cda,
Thank you! That was by far my favorite find. It was marked to 90% off so I paid just a little over $1 for it at a local outlet store!

Wow! I can't even wrap my head around packing this early. It just isn't in me. We leave on Sunday as well. DH is already completely packed (other than toiletries) and so far I've... well, I've grouped together the dresses I want to pack in the closet. That counts for something, right?!
-
Dance away! I might even join you. 4 more days for us!!

I wish I could send my necklace to you. The colors would go great with that gorgeous green dress. . The blue is more of a turquoise. All your dresses are great!!
Since I started cruising with girlfriends, I swear my dresses never make it out of the closet. They don't do dresses. So I save them for trips with my DH. That's not till Jan. :(
However I still enjoy putting together a more casual wardrobe for the trips with friends:)

I wish you could, too! ;) Cute necklace!

My husband also ordered me this when I felt like a dessert..its called the Tiramisu Martini but I do not have a pic.
I have heard good things about this one. It's on my list of things to try on our next cruise.
-
I don't have any recommendations, but I am very glad you asked the question.

I am loving all of these choices! And to think that you got each for under $15--WOW!
As for shoes and accessories, my only comment would be that you should try to cut down the number of shoes you plan to take. Bet you could use the same black shoes for some.
Thanks for taking the time to post for us!
Excellent suggestion! I've already ditched the black strappy sandals I'm wearing with the red and black dress because they KILL my feet. I may just wear the nude heels with that dress as well.
-
I have started the process of weeding out what I want to wear on our next cruise so I look some quick pics while I was trying everything on this weekend. Every dress pictured was purchased for $15 or less.
I'm open to suggestions on shoes or jewelry. Those are areas I'm not so good at.

I feel like I fall somewhere in between. I'm very minimal with my clothes, but towards the end of my packing, when it's really "crunch time", I find myself throwing junk in that I had no plans on taking along with me. Might as well if there's extra room, right? ;)

I think a belt would be a nice touch, but since you don't want to wear one, I would definitely go with a colorful, bold necklace, earrings and a bracelet to match your hot pink shoes. The necklace should either be short enough to come up above the dress or very long.

TNGALOHA, I think the dresses are lovely! A sash at the waist will be a great finishing touch. I'm sure your granddaughters are going to be so excited when they see them!

I do not care for the quality, or typically the style, of the clothing at Rue21 since it is geared more towards teenagers, but I do occasionally pop in to look at the accessories department. I thought this anchor scarf was adorable and worth sharing:
And it's only $7.99 (plus right now scarfs are buy one, get one for $2)!
-
Typically, I go with a neutral shoe because I like spending money on clothes more so than shoes. But, I do occasionally purchase a bright pair of shoes just for kicks.

I LOVE the dress. Would you be so kind as to mail it to ME...:D:D:D
Absolutely! I'm going to carry it on this cruise with me and maybe take a picture in the room with it on just so my Mom can see it in pictures, and then I don't mind sending it to you at all after I get back. I think Mom said she bought a medium. I normally wear a small and it's very snug on me but there is plenty more give in the fabric. If you want it, just let me know.
I tried it on last night and it is just too much for me. And DH wholeheartedly agrees. LOL! There is no way I'll be comfortable in it out in public unless I wear leggings under it and a jacket over it. Quite frankly, that's just too much trouble and I'd much rather wear other dresses I already have in it's place.

Kellane,
I love your backpack! It's so cute!:D
Why thank you, Mousey! I ordered it from a friend that sells Thirty-One Gifts a few years ago.
RedHeadTexan, I love the rompers! Very cute! And I think they will be perfect to use as cover-ups.

Old Navy makes a fold-over jersey skirt that I buy in tall so that it goes down to my knees. I found out by accident one day that if pulled up and worn around the bust, it makes a great swimsuit cover up.

I realize you guys don't know me, so this will not be quite as humorous, but I'm posting it anyway.
My mother just stopped by to bring a dress she bought for me to wear when we go on our cruise. She was out shopping and it "looked tropical" so I guess that was all that mattered. Let me add that I tend to dress pretty conservatively, I have a teenage son that would probably not care to see me in this and I am taller that 5'0". This dress is skin tight and saying that it comes to my mid thigh is being overly generous.
It's like the woman doesn't know me at all! LOL!
Here it is (this is a view from the back so you can get the full effect):

I was recently in Burke's Outlet (my small town's version of Marshall's) and they had Nine West packable hats for $12.99 - $15.99. They had both large and small straw floppy hats as well as fedoras. Might be worth checking out at your local "frugal fashionista" store.
-
I didn't respond, as I was out purchasing said item after I put my little ones to bed. It was at Marshall's/TJ Maxx/HomeGoods...and still there $12.99!
It's four triangular cylinders (prisms) with zipper closures that all velcro to a home base mat, if you will. I can pack it rolled up or detach the four compartments, as advised by previous posts, and place in small spaces in luggage.
Thanks so much, everyone!:D
Great find!

Yesterday, after work, Walt and I headed to the big city of Knoxville to pick up his new suit. As we were driving he realized that he forgot his sunglasses again. So, half joking, I asked if he wanted me to make him a sunglasses frame hanger like I did for my accessory wall and I hang it by the door to the breezeway. I about passed out when he said yes. So, Walt will be be getting a mini accessory wall in the kitchen. :)
Lisa
Haha! I love it!

I'm not sure if any of you ladies ever check out Pick Your Plum (daily deal website), but I noticed that today they have solid maxi skirts for $9.99 and striped maxi skirts for $12.99. I think shipping is $4.99.

lol, a few years ago we went on a family group cruise, we snuck a double ended item in my adult and married sisters bag, she had no idea it was in there till they had her open her bag and she pulled it out, funniest moment of my life.
Hahahahahahaha!

Magandab, you absolutely rock that "frumpy" dress! It looks great on you! Very figure flattering!
Even some of the brands mentioned earlier as "non-frumpy" do nothing for me. I think we are all different shapes and different sizes and so it only makes sense that it takes different cuts to flatter our own unique bodies. I am tall and lean so when I try on many misses sizes (specifically bottoms), they are cut too wide in the hips for me. Does that make me inferior or superior to anyone else? No. It just makes me different. And that’s okay. That’s why there are so many different options out there. We can all find something that works well for us without having to resort to being tacky or judgmental when someone else has a different opinion of a clothing brand.
