  1. Have you tried the usual: clear cookies, clear cache, different browser?

Thanks Bob, I did try with no luck. I even tried IE, Chrome and Firefox as well as my phone...all go blank at different points in the search but none go to actual cruise info.

I will just wait until later today or tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fixed at some point.

So many companies don't invest in good IT. Whether they realize it or not, they are only hurting themselves.

  2. I've gone in to check the price of my already booked cruise several times today to see if the "sale" will lower my price or encourage me to upgrade. While I can choose the ship and date, once I hit "book" to see pricing, it goes to a blank page.

It looks like Royal IT is at it again!

  3. Here is my list although most, if not all have already been mentioned:

Sailaway from the Helipad...best secret I heard before we left

Flowrider - you aren't even close to being too old.

Grab a seat (and a drink) on the Promenade in the evening and people watch :)

Helipad at night to look at the stars...it's pretty dark up there at night

    Ice Show

70's or 80's Dance Party (which ever one they have when you are on)

  4. I always use a cash account. For a seven day sailing you can charge up to $500 before they advise you that you need to pay on the account. I will usually go down the morning of day 6 and settle up then put a charge card on the account in case we have any other charges before check out. This avoids having to wait in the long lines on the last night to settle up any last minute charges.

I do not recommend using a debit card. As someone else said, the bank will put a hold on the card and it could be several hundred dollars and could stay on for up to two weeks.

  5. I started reading the replies and decided not to continue.

I went on a cruise, ALONE, when I was 19. I signed up for a group cruise thru "Single World" and went on only group excursions. There were some scary times in Nassau but I stuck with the group and was fine.

That being said, it was a long time ago and things have changed. I took my 16, 17 & 21 yo on a cruise and we all stayed together.

I'm not sure if the 16 yo could get off the ship without you. You may want to check the age limit for that as RC will not let a "minor" off the ship without a parent or guardian.

Enjoy your cruise and do what you think is right for your family.

  6. I finally got a chance to check this out and was pleasantly surprised. I had the offer on my AE Everyday card so I loaded it and figured I would give it a try.

I called RCI Friday to pay $350 on my 2017 cruise and while I was still on the phone with the agent I got an email from AE congratulating me on using the offer. First thing Saturday the $75 credit had already posted to my account.

Since this is a newer card for me and I'm interest free for a while it was definitely worth it for me to take advantage.

  7. My three teen dd's and I shared an inside and we worked it out without anyone having to leave the cabin. Two showered at night and the early birds showered in the morning. We did have the gym as a backup just in case but no one wanted to pack a bag to go to the gym to shower then come back and pack up a bag for the excursion. It worked out fine.

  8.

Indy is a nice choice, but I think for 4 people you still need at least the larger balcony cabin with the sofa bed. On Enchantment I would think the same. Majesty - definitely the JS.

I don't necessarily agree with this. My three dd's (21, 17, 16 at the time) and I had an inside room on Indy and did just fine. That being said, we did have pullmans. I do believe some insides have the sofa instead. There is also the option of family inside or family promenade on Indy...LOVE that ship!

I can't comment first hand on the kids clubs, etc as mine are too old for that but I did hear from many in our large groups that the options were plentiful for littles.

  9. I know this thread is three years old, but it seems the best place to put this:

While on the Grandeur last month, I tried to "buy" a photo of our tablemates as my free photo (Diamond Plus) -- we were going to give it to them as a surprise -- but was told that I couldn't because I'm not related to them. Okay, fair enough.

So, then, I immediately said I would instead get a photo of my 12-year-old daughter (who was standing there right next to me while this conversation was happening) from formal night at dinner. They gave me such a hard time because -- apparently -- you can only use the free photo benefit if you, yourself, are in the picture. Otherwise, you have to pay for the photo. This, according to staff of the Grandeur.

I was pretty surprised because that has never happened on any other RCI ship. I've never had an issue getting a photo of our daughter by herself as the free photo.

Eventually they relented, but let me know that they were bending the rules.

Anyone else ever had this happen?

Very strange. Last fall while on Indy, our first RC Cruise, a couple offered us their free photo as they travel frequently and aren't interested in the photos any longer. I met them at the photo "shop", showed them the two I wanted and they had no problem purchasing them. Maybe because I was there with them and I was in the photo?

  10. True. But it still ties to a cabin with 2 adults. It is the same scenario as the parents with 3 kids in a connected cabin. It is not a single parent tied to 2 cabins.

I couldn't do it when my kids were young as a single parent. Just curious if single parents can do that now.

I will be traveling next fall with my 3 dd's and we have two cabins next to each other, not connected. I did have to call but was able to reserve the rooms with no problem. I will be with the 14 yo and the 16 & 17 yo will have the room next door. It wasn't even an issue when I asked. They even said if they couldn't find two rooms next to or across from each other they could be a few rooms down. I reserved early enough that wasn't an issue.

  11. Definitely don't "need". I recall about a year ago asking this same question then doing my own research as I planned a cruise for myself and three of my daughters. I was not going to spend the extra $400+ on passports. In my research I found that some of the islands where we were stopping did not have a consulate of their own; instead they shared with several islands and there would only be a representative, at most, once a week on each island. Even though the risk of us being injured or missing the ship was low, I was less interested in the prospect of spending several unplanned days on an island (no matter how beautiful) with my three teen age girls while we waited for assistance to get home (especially if someone was sick or injured).

I decided to spend the money since we will be cruising again. It was worth the peace of mind for me!

  12. Budget-minded here too! I sailed on Independence (sister ship) with my three dd's and we had an inside cabin...two twins (or one queen if pushed together) and two pullman bunks. It was a tight squeeze, especially on packing day, but we made it work so we can afford to sail more.

I don't know how close you are with your friends. That would make a big difference. A JS may be enough room but I am unsure as to the sleeping arrangements, there may only be two twins and a pullout sofa for two.
