Try to get on a newer cruise ship if possible, makes the first experience much better. The older ships are okay but they tend to show their age. The Eastern Caribbean is a great cruise too.

It's crap shoot, you can call Princess and see how full the ship is. If they are not sold they may have a last minute deal. I booked a 4 day and 7 day in Nov. The 4 day I booked when it was on sale and it's gone up a bit in price. Good luck.

After you have paid or presented your ticket, you can select the one you want if it's vacant and not spoken for. Best to get there early then you can choose one in the first row.

Thanks Working 2 Cruise, you're absolutely right. You just saved me some $. I didn't even think to look at when we're leaving Cabo San Lucas. We've been there b4 at a resort so maybe we will stay on the ship this time. By the way, I cruise on the Royal Princess in Feb. this year, nice ship.

I am wondering if anyone on the Princess Mexican Riviera cruise has booked the Villas El Arco Resort excursion in Cabo San Lucas and if it is worth it?

We rented one on Princess Cays and probably won't next time. If you get there first thing (first tender out), you should be able to find a lounge chair(s) under a tree. There are two sides to Princess Cays when you arrive by tender (facing the island), the happening side (to the left) where there is more going on and the quiet side (to the right). If you decide to rent one, you should get their early as first come, first serve and you want to get the ones in the facing the ocean, otherwise if you come later your view will be the backside of another clamshell in the row behind. One thing about the quiet side, there are no lineups for food. One thing about the clamshell is that if you are concerned about your personal belongings, they are a bit safer out of view in your shell. When you arrive at Princess Cays, you present your clam shell ticket (don't forget to take with you when leave the ship) for the to the attendant, then go with them to pick one out. There are clam shells on the left and right sides where the tender arrives.

Hello, I am cruising on the Crown Princess in the Mexican Riviera and need help from season cruisers as I am not familiar with cruising to these areas. I have been to Cabo San Lucas but that was resort vacation, not a cruise.

1. Does anyone know which resort is part of the Princess Cruises The Golden Zone / Zona Dorada Mazatlan port of call excursion? Is it worth it? This a excursion is described as Shopping, Resort, Beach & Lunch (7 hours).

2. Is the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta close to the cruise port of do you need take transportation, and if so, what type of transportation i.e. taxi. Is it safe in that area? or can someone suggest where the majority of the tourist shop.

3. Where does the tender drop you off in Cabo San Lucas?

SadieN, sorry I see now that you have laid out the best means of transportation, does Super Shuttle provide a service from San Pedro to Santa Monica?

Thank you both, I didn't realize that Super Shuttle will drop off at the Crown Plaza in San Pedro. We are staying one extra night in Santa Monica after we disembark the cruise ship so I think it would be cheaper to take Super Shuttle back to LAX then take a taxi from there to Santa Monica, or does Super Shuttle take passengers from LAX to Santa Monica (near the pier).

Can anyone help me with shuttle service LAX, San Pedro and Santa Monica?

Question 1: We are flying into LAX the day before our Mexican Riviera cruise and are staying at the Crown Plaza in San Pedro. If I take Super Shuttle or Primetime Shuttle from LAX to the cruise port, will the Crown Plaza shuttle pick us up or do we have to take a taxi to the hotel.

Question 2: We are on the Crown Princess, what time does the ship normally disembark at San Pedro after returning from Mexico as I don't know what time to arrange a shuttle pickup from the cruise port back to LAX. What would be the best time for pickup?

Question 3: We are staying in Santa Monica one night before we leave LA, I think it might be cheaper to take the Super Shuttle or Primetime Shuttle back to LAX then take a taxi to Santa Monica instead of a door-to-door shuttle service.

I've gotten quotes from some shuttle agencies but it's pretty pricey for a private Van, I was quoted $110 (LAX to Crown Plaza), $140 (San Pedro to Santa Monica) and $110 (Santa Monica to LAX) for 3 shuttle trips.

Your help and advice is greatly appreciated as I an not familiar with LAX or the San Pedro Cruise port. Thank you very much.
