  1. Personally, I like 'em and consider them a fun part of cruising. We take our most recent card and put it on our master bedroom door at home. I know, I know... It's a little corny, but we enjoy it ;) It helps us look forward to being onboard again!

  2. - can they as newbies skip the MDR lunch and just tour the ship on their own, then eat in the buffet?

Yes! You can skip the tour and the MDR lunch if you'd like, and simply tour the ship at your own pace and enjoy the other dining options onboard. It can work out well actually, because since you are one of the first Guests onboard, you can sometimes be the first to the International Cafe or up to the lido and buffet before it gets super busy.

I love the BVEs - they are a great Princess offering. I don't understand why the other lines don't offer something similar to add a little additional revenue.

  3. The anniversary stuff does not live up to the hype.

I disagree. My wife and I very much enjoyed the 50th anniversary touches on our January cruise. The updated logos onboard, added details around the ship, banners and cake in the atrium, anniversary pizzas, special chocolates throughout the cruise, the cakepops and truffles, the special commemorative dinner and menu, and flag at the bow of the ship .

We didn't receive the bag with the 50th anniversary logo however. . . that was disappointing.

Overall, it was more than we had expected to see around the ship. We were pleasantly surprised!

  4. Hi,

My wife, sister, brother-in-law and I are doing the Star Princess BVE on March 14 as a day outing. This will be my brother-in-laws first time on a ship (and my sisters second time) so it will be fun to show him around! And of course my wife and I are just looking forward to being onboard for the day :)

Does anyone have any idea what the BVE lunch might be these days?

    Thanks!

  5. If you like Love Boat - and what true cruise lover doesn't - then find and watch an movie called OUT TO SEA starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. They are featured as dance hosts aboard a cruise ship. It was shot on HALs old Westerdam, now Thompson Dream.

Great movie! Much of it was filmed on the Queen Mary.

  6. Thank you for posting the 2015 dates!

I am looking forward to booking some dates for my wife and in out of San Francisco or possibly LA.

We are loving cruising Princess and have taken 5 since getting married last September. We are now expecting our first child, and so we figure we won't be able to cruise as easily for a while, and definitely not again this year because of Princess' limitations to cruising after a certain week of pregnancy ... so the BVEs are a perfect way for us to get on board for at least an afternoon, bring family or friends with us, and build up credit toward our next trip :D

  7. Princess@Sea is available on the Crown, but not the messaging feature, and just as a mobile site, not mobile app. Also, I found it interesting that the experience for Events was slightly different on my cell vs tablet.

Overall - a great tool to use onboard! Thanks Princess!

  8. It's no longer 6 pm, it's 9 and boarding is at 5:30!

    CROWN PRINCESS PRE-BOARDING HEALTH ADVISORY

Please be advised that during the current cruise there has been a slightly higher than expected number of cases of gastrointestinal illness among guests suspected to be caused by norovirus. Throughout the cruise we have been carrying out a comprehensive sanitation program and although case numbers remain relatively low, in an abundance of caution we have arranged for the ship to undergo an additional disinfection in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Check-in for your cruise will be delayed until 5:30 PM. Please do not arrive earlier than 5:00 PM as the terminal will be closed for sanitation and there will be no seating or services available. To minimize terminal congestion we use a progressive check-in schedule as follows:

5:30 PM - Dolphin and Emerald Decks: Cabins begin with D or E

6:30 PM - Caribe and Riviera Decks: Cabins begin with C or R

7:30 PM - Aloha and Lido Decks: Cabins begin with A or L

8:00 PM - Baja and Plaza Decks: Cabins begin with B or P

Crown Princess is expected to depart Los Angeles at 9:00 PM.
